Ms Sue Arden,

Sue Arden is Vice President - Life Sciences & Healthcare Industries group, Global Customer Solutions at DHL Asia Pacific.

Based in Singapore, she is responsible for providing regional strategy, account development and strategic direction for customer solutions within the Life Sciences and Healthcare Industries portfolio. She is a highly talented individual who has constantly exceeded expectations and has played a pivotal role in the expansion of the Life Sciences and Healthcare division within DHL GCS.

She is an industry veteran with an extensive experience in the logistics industry both in Asia Pacific and internationally. She joined DHL in 1999 as Industry Sector Head Asia Pacific, Life Sciences, DHL Danzas Air & Ocean and has been in senior management positions since then. She also has been instrumental in the promotion and development of new businesses and leveraging on existing global relationships within Asia Pacific

Prior to joining DHL, Ms Sue has worked for a number of leading global companies in various senior positions in Asia within the operations, sales & marketing areas. Her past experiences include Manager, Global Customers and State Sales Manager with BAX Global, State Sales Manager and Market Development Manager with Hellmann International and various other senior positions with Burlington Air Express and Air Express International.

Sue Arden is an Australian citizen and a graduate of the University of Western Sydney in Logistics Management. She is currently pursuing a Masters in Logistics Management from NUS and Georgia Tech and she also holds a number of professional certificates from IATA.

Mr. Berg has been with Amgen since 1992 and has worked in manufacturing, operations project management, and quality administration. For four years he has led Supplier Quality, a group that is responsible for managing the quality aspects of Amgen’s raw material suppliers. In order to continue to advance Supplier Quality at Amgen and within the Pharmaceutical industry, he actively participates in industry wide focus groups, PDA, and other relevant trade organizations. Mr. Berg holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from California Lutheran University.

Sherman is a pioneer in the technology development and implementation of integrated supply chain and cold chain management and achieved many break-through technologies and improvements. He integrates pharmaceutical, chemical, supply chain/ logistics, business process re-engineering, Total Quality Management, and supplier partnership initiatives together to develop a very effective and new approach for cold chain distribution management. His unique integrated approach on cold-chain management helps Sanofi Pasteur Ltd. achieved close-to-zero deviation performance for years. Sherman is also a frequent speaker and professional trainer in many world-scale cold-chain related conferences (see attached). He also provides cold-chain and supply chain consulting services to many renounced corporation in improving their cold-chain management capability. He also partners with containers manufacturers and logistics services providers (such as airlines, couriers) to pioneer and jointly develop/improve cold-chain technologies for the industries. He also helped airlines (Air Canada, Air France/KLM, Cathay Pacific) and couriers (Fedex) to uplift their cold-chain management capability and launch their cold-chain management products and services. In the past two decades, Sherman worked for many Fortune 500s companies, such as: • Union Carbide, • Sea Land, • Dow Chemical, • Jardine Matheson, • Sanofi Pasteur. He serviced in various functions of supply chain/operations management. His industrial experience covers manufacturing, channel distribution, logistics, chemical and IT in Canada, U.S. and Asia Pacific region.
Ms Jeroze Dalal,

Jeroze Dalal is one of the most versatile and experienced clinical research professionals in India currently.

By academic training, she is a post-graduate in Chemistry and has had five years research experience in the field of leprosy and malnutrition at a leading hospital in Mumbai. She is currently pursuing her PhD in General Management.

She started her career in the pharmaceutical industry in the Medical Services department at Merind, where she was responsible for market support and product-training to field representatives.

She has successfully managed Clinical Operations in several multinational pharmaceutical companies and in Clinical Research Organizations, including SmithKline Beecham, AstraZeneca, and Quintiles. She is experienced in various different aspects of Clinical Research, including monitoring, project management and training.

She trained and managed a team of Clinical Research Associates at SmithKline Beecham and AstraZeneca,. Prior to that, she has worked as a Project Manager & Global Team Leader with Quintiles and was responsible for starting-up operations in Bangalore. At Pfizer, she was a Quality Standards & Process Implementation Manager. Presently, she heads the Clinical Operations department at GlaxoSmithKline, India.

More than 12 years experience in supply chain management in Asia Pacific region having worked for numerous chemical multi-national companies leading various supply chain roles and currently working for Novartis Pharmaceuticals as Head SCM for Region Asia Pacific. Handling international trade distributions; 3PL negotiations and contract management; inventory optimization through LEAN distribution; outsourcing operations, setting up regional distribution hubs where optimal; and managing effective end-to-end Cold Chain distribution has been his value add to the organizations he has been employed in. CPIM certified and hold a Degree in Biochemistry and Microbiology and a Graduate Diploma in Inventory and Material Management. Equally qualified in Health, Safety & Environment practices and a qualified Fire Safety Officer.
Dr Iftekhar Karimi,

A BTech graduate of Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, India, Professor I A Karimi received his PhD from Purdue University, USA. Currently, he is a Professor in the Department of Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering at the National University of Singapore. He is currently leading an A*Star project on chemical supply chain management and logistics at NUS. Before joining NUS, he worked in both academia and industry for several years in the USA. A leading optimization expert with world-wide recognition in the areas of design, planning, and scheduling in batch chemical industry, he has published extensively in a variety of top-tier, international journals both in the fields of chemical engineering and operations research and management. Professor Karimi has several years of experience in chemical logistics and supply chain management. During his tenure at NUS, he has led several industry-collaborative research and consulting projects with a variety of local chemical and logistics companies and agencies. With his unique blend of more than twenty years of research and consulting experience in academia and industry, he has been instrumental in developing several novel and efficient optimization models and methodologies for decision support on many complex and practical problems in noncontinuous chemical process design and operation, chemical logistics, and chemical supply chain management.

Chetan’s experience in Supply Chain management spreads out through different industries both in Indian and International Markets. In his present role he Heads the Logistics function for Baxter India where his team is responsible for overall logistics management for the organization providing support in the areas of inbound logistics, transportation, demand forecasting, logistics sizing, cost management, planning and inventory management, warehousing operations, exports logistics, cold chain logistics and improvement initiatives to all group business units with key focus on leading innovations in customer operations.

Chetan moved into his present role from Schneider Electric Asia Pacific Ltd, Hong Kong, where he worked on various Global Supply Chain & Logistics Projects as a part of the Asia-Pacific Supply Chain team, prior to joining Schneider Electric he has also worked with BAX Global India Ltd’s Logistics arm, he had started his career in manufacturing Plant operations in automotive industry.

Mr Sundar Narasimhan,

Sundar Narasimhan is a Mechanical Engineering Graduate and has a Masters in Financial Management. He is a Certified Purchase Manager by the Institute of Supply Management, U.S.A. Sundar is a keen follower of developments in the field of Supply Chain Management and is a Certified National Trainer for Indian Institute of Materials Management especially for the courses they conduct in collaboration with International Trade Centre (ITC), Geneva. Sundar has over 20 years experience in the field of Supply Chain Management as a practicing professional.

He heads Supply Chain Management function in Neuland Laboratories Limited, Hyderabad. Neuland Laboratories has embarked on an ambitious growth path and is targeting growth in its core capability of Pharmaceuticals Manufacturing and through forays into CRO and a Clinical Trials JV. Sundar currently handles purchasing and logistics for these business verticals for the past two plus years.

Sundar comes from a multi-industry background and his previous stint was with a large Industrial Group viz. Murugappa Group with two of its divisions – Parryware Division (now a part of Roca, Spain) and TI Cycles where he served as Deputy General Manager – handling Sourcing, Logistics and Manufacturing at different points of time. Prior to this Sundar has worked handling Supply Chain functional areas in companies belonging to Brakes India Limited (TVS Group), Style Spa RTA Furniture (KK Birla Group) and Greaves Limited (Thapar Group).

Sundar’s core capabilities are in Supply Chain Management and especially in Global Sourcing and Logistics Management. Among his successful projects are a) putting together a complete source base and a set of private labeled products out of China for Parryware b) implementation of SAP system and a B2B system for Supply Chain visibility for Parryware and its key vendors and c) implementing a source base de-risking and a zero Stockout program for Neuland Laboratories.

Mr Yee Seng Ng,

Yee Seng is an Associate Director Supply Chain with UCB Pharma. He is responsible for overseeing all supply chain operations for Asia Pacific region. He is an experienced supply chain professional with wide regional exposure, built up in several supply chain roles such as planning, procurement, trade & logistics within top international pharmaceutical (GSK & Roche) and global consumer (Philip Morris) companies. Yee Seng has a Pharmacy degree from Brighton University, and holds an MBA from Strathclyde University. He is currently pursuing a Supply Chain Professional Certification (CSCP) from APICS.

Serge Pampfer is the Managing Director of Wallonia Biotech Coaching (WBC), the incubator launched in September 2006 to stimulate the creation and development of biotech spin-offs and start-ups in the Belgian region of Wallonia. Dr. Pampfer is also the Chairman of the executive committee leading the BioLog Europe initiative, which is aimed at structuring and developing the biologistics industry in Wallonia and at capturing a substantial share of that emerging market. Prior to these functions, Dr. Pampfer was General Manager of GIGA, an innovative R&D project based at the University of Liège (Belgium) that combines a research center specialized in applied genoproteomics and a training center for technicians and scientists. Before directing the GIGA project, Dr. Pampfer has worked as Chief Operating Officer at Beta-Cell, a Brussels (Belgium)-based spin-off specialized in stem cell therapy to cure diabetes and as Chief Scientific Officer at Arevia, a Berlin (Germany)-based start-up focused on finding new diagnostic tools and therapeutic agents for endometriosis. Before joining the biotech industry, Dr. Pampfer was Professor of Human Embryology and Laboratory Director at the School of Medicine of the University of Louvain (Belgium). Dr. Pampfer holds a PhD in cellular biology from the University of Louvain (Belgium) and University of Essen (Germany) and performed his post-doctoral fellowship in molecular biology at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York (USA). Dr. Pampfer is first author or co-author of more than 40 peer-reviewed publications and 3 patent applications and has received several scientific awards, including the Menarini Prize for Excellence in Diabetes Research.

Georg Schulz holds a Degree in Economics and an MBA and is a professional with 14 years of logistics/supply chain management experience based in Asia. He joined Zuellig Pharma, the APAC leader in Logistics Services to the Healthcare Industry in 2006 as Head of Operations for the Regional Distribution Centre (RDC). He currently holds the position of Business Development Director for Zuellig Pharma’s Specialty Solutions Group. In his role, Georg Schulz is responsible for the strategic positioning of the Business Unit, the conceptualization of new services and solutions and leads the Group’s expansion through organizational development and set-up of new infrastructure elements throughout Asia. His Group has consulted numerous pharmaceutical and clinical trial companies in re-engineering their supply chains in Asia.

He joined Zuellig Pharma from Kuehne + Nagel, a global 3PL provider, where he worked for six years as General Manager (Contract Logistics), overseeing logistics operations and client relationship management. He set up new logistics hubs, supported operations in Southeast Asia and conceptualized and implemented new supply chain solutions across all industry verticals.

Prior to that, he gained his logistical foundation knowledge holding several appointments in purchasing, distribution, production planning, business process re-engineering and contributed to the factory strategy while working for Leica Instruments, an optical equipment manufacturer.

Mr Damien Tan,

Damien Tan is the Managing Director for TNT Singapore. He has more than 12 years of extensive business experience in the management consultancy and manufacturing field.

Mr. Tan joined TNT in 2004 as the Major Accounts Director of Singapore, where he played an active role in developing the Major Accounts business portfolio. These included Fortune 500 companies in the life sciences, high-tech, and equipment and machinery sectors, where he was instrumental in the development of new supply chain solutions for these sectors.

Prior to TNT, Damien spent six years in management consultancy with Pricewaterhouse Coopers and IBM Business Consulting Services, focusing on the hi tech sector. He specialised in Supply Chain Management, Business Process Re-engineering, and Operations Strategy. Mr. Tan also has six years of experience in the manufacturing industry, spanning across different areas such as production, procurement, planning, product development and project management.

Mr Paul van Nieuwenhuizen,

Paul has over 25 years experience in the pharmaceutical industry and has worked in various manufacturing and quality assurance roles of increasing responsibility during this time. He is currently working for GlaxoSmithKline as the Quality Liaison Manager for Asia Pacific and Japan region, supporting GSK commercial companies with the implementation of their Quality Management Systems. He also provides advice and guidance on product quality risk assessments of their supply chains, the mitigation of cold chain issues and the assessment of Logistics Service Providers.
Mr Raymond Velez,
Regional Manager, Global Product Protection - Asia Pacific,

Raymond H. Velez is currently the Regional Manager, Asia Pacific, Global Product Protection, Eli Lilly And Company. In this role, he manages drug anti-counterfeiting investigations in the Asia Pacific Region. He is currently based in Bangkok, Thailand.

Some of the investigations under his direction and supervision have led to the dismantling of organizations responsible for the global distribution of counterfeit drugs. He has in-depth experience working internet-based wholesale and retail operations and is also well-versed in the global flow of counterfeit drugs from source country manufacturing to retail “brick and mortar” distribution.

Mr. Velez has also conducted and participated in training on several continents regarding the worldwide threat counterfeit medicines pose to patient safety.

By way of history, Mr. Velez entered on duty with the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in 1980 in Seattle, Washington, USA. His career led to San Francisco, then to postings in Pakistan and India before he retired from the FBI in 2001 while assigned to the American Embassy in Bangkok, Thailand.

Mr. Velez has broad experience in various investigative fields ranging from terrorism to drug trafficking. He has also conducted training of police and other government officials throughout Asia and the United States.

From 2001 to 2004, Mr. Velez was the Senior Investigator for Microsoft Corporation, Law and Corporate Affairs, responsible for IPR investigations in South Asia Pacific.

Mr Rodney Wee,

Having retired from commercial and the academia, he is a resource person for Supply Chain Management, Cold Chain Management as well as Postharvest operations for the Asian Productivity Organisation (APO) based in Tokyo, as well as speaker / moderator for APEC in Postharvest Cold Chain Management.

He has presented papers at APO, APEC as well as other organisations and chaired seminars/workshops in several countries. He is currently reviewing Post Harvest Cold Chain practices & operations in Indonesia, Thailand and the Philippines whilst working with the Virginia Horticulture Centre (South Australia) on expanding their operations and is on the Cold Chain and Quality Group working committee of the South Australian Freight Council.

Prior to Amgen, he co-founded a physician services company in the U.S. Earlier, he was responsible for starting subsidiaries in India and Malaysia for a publicly traded U.S. company focused in medical equipment sales & services.

Mr. Yepuri is active in industry trade groups and also a member of Dean’s Leadership Council at California State University Channel Islands. He has a Master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering from Case Western Reserve University and a Bachelor’s degree in Electronics & Communication from Delhi University.
