Oduro Kwadjo Gyarteng, is the Chairman of the 15-member Board of Commissioners of the Water Resources Commission (WRC) of Ghana which was inaugurated in July 2007. Before then his last Public Service appointment was a 9 year stint as the Chief Executive of the Ghana Irrigation Development Authority (GIDA) which he also represented on the 1st and pioneer Board of the Commissioners of the Water Resources Commission (WRC) of Ghana.
Mr. Gyarteng holds a Bsc.(Mechanical Engineering) from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST); a Postgraduate Diploma in Agricultural Engineering -Farm Machinery Design- from the National College of Agricultural Engineering (NCAE), Silsoe, UK; and an Msc.(Agricutural Engineering) –Tropical Mechanization- at University of Reading/NCAE, UK.
He first joined the Public Service as an Assistant Agricultural Engineer in September, 1967 and rose through the ranks to become the Director of the Agricultural Engineering Department of Ghana’s Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MOFA) where he spent most of his over 30 years of professional career and working life. And for a period from November 1991, to December, he was made to act in the topmost professional post of the Chief Director of the Ministry (MOFA).
When in service he found time to serve on professional engineering bodies and some High School Management Boards. He has also served his terms as the President of Ghana- and the West African- Associations of Agricultural Engineering.
Since retirement in August, 2002, Mr. Gyarteng has been engaged in short term Engineering consultancies in Agricultural Engineering and water, and currently engaged in promoting the development of the rural area where he hails from He has also found time to be with his 7 grandchildren. .
