The aim of the CGS Groundwater Short Course Program is to improve understanding of groundwater as a key natural resource. Since 1988 the CGS Groundwater Short Course Program has contributed significantly to the national awareness of the environmental impacts of groundwater processes including recharge, discharge, contamination, remediation and management.
CGS’ collaborative research and education programs address a clear need by industry, government and the community for a greater awareness of the way groundwater behaves, and how it can be better managed and protected. Arising from this research and education the CGS Groundwater Short Course Program endeavours to extend groundwater education beyond professional development for groundwater industry staff to include technicians, non-specialists, environment community groups and all who are working in land and water management.
South Australia is the driest state in the world’s driest inhabited continent and is emerging as a world class, export oriented hub of water technology and services. Nature has demanded innovation in the way we use water, positioning us at the forefront of responding to climate change and water scarcity. Formed in 1998, the Water Industry Alliance is a not for profit cluster of almost 200 water-related organisations focused on growing the South Australian water industry. Collectively, our members have grown annual exports of South Australian water technology products and water management services from $25m to$379m with accumulated exports exceeding $2bn.
