Rod Hayes

Rod joined Horizon Power as Managing Director at the end of January 2006.

For the three years prior to this appointment Rod was the Chief Executive Officer of the Gladstone Area Water Board (GAWB) in central Queensland. GAWB is the bulk water provider servicing the rapidly growing needs of the highly industrialised Gladstone region.

Between 1998 and 2003 Rod worked for Aurora Energy, Tasmania’s electricity distributor and retailer where he undertook a wide range of roles with Aurora including operational, risk management, strategic change and regulatory management roles.

Rod’s early career was spent working for accounting and professional service firms with a primary focus on the development and implementation of risk management systems and process improvement.

Stuart Hohnen
Chief Executive Officer
Dampier Bunbury Pipeline 

Mr Hohnen spent 14 years with the WA Government including five years as Chief Executive of the Department of Resources Development.  This period coincided with the original negotiations for the NWSG project.  He was closely involved with the restructuring of SECWA in the mid 1990’s and served as Deputy Chairman of AlintaGas from 1995 to 1998, during which time he was also a Councillor with the National Competition Council.  In 1994 Mr Hohnen established his own consulting business, providing commercial, strategic and policy advice on a wide range of energy, resources and infrastructure issues.  Mr Hohnen joined DBP as Executive Chairman in May 2005 and since July 2006 has chaired the DomGas Alliance.  He is also a director of the Simcoa Group of companies. Mr Hohnen holds a Bachelor of Engineering from Adelaide University and a Masters of Business Administration from Stanford University, California.

Steve Hollis

Mr Hollis has been the managing director of LES since November 2001.  He is a civil engineer with 40 years experience in managing engineering projects.

In 1988 he was appointed Managing Director of the Scott & Furphy Group of companies and in 1991 took the company into a merger with Crooks Michell Peacock and Stewart to form CMPS&F Pty Ltd, at that time Australia’s largest engineering consulting group with a staff of 1,200.

Following the acquisition of CMPS&F by the French Egis Group in 1997 he became Chief Operating Officer (Deputy Managing Director) of CMPS&F.

In 1998 Steve joined SMEC Pty Ltd becoming Executive Director, Development until his appointment as managing director of LES.

Mr Marston has extensive experience in the Australian mining and exploration industry together with several years experience in a broad range of other industry sectors. Mr Marston has worked for a number of mining and exploration companies including Barrack Mines Limited.

Mr Marston joined Grange Resources Limited in 2004 in a resource project development role. Subsequently he worked for Grange as the project manager on the Southdown Magnetite and Kemaman (Malaysia) Pellet Plant Project. In July 2006 he was promoted to his current role.

Bill spent the first part of his career with BHP Billiton, mainly in iron ore and metallurgical coal marketing, including 10 years based in Tokyo and London.  On returning to Perth in 2002, he joined Wesfarmers where he has had various roles including responsibility for marketing for Wesfarmers Premier Coal and development of growth initiatives such as Premier Power Sales and Wesfarmers Char.

Mr Michael Ottavianna

Michael is Managing Director of Carnegie Corporation and SeaPower Pacific.  He is primarily responsible for commercialization of the CETO technology and oversees the all of the commercial and technical aspects including operations, engineering and design, intellectual property and finance administration. 

Prior to joining Carnegie, he was a Senior Manager specializing in Technology and Innovation consulting at a global accounting and advisory firm. He has advised companies on new product development, intellectual property, innovation portfolio management and technology commercialization across various industries and ranging from start-ups to ASX-listed companies with market capitalizations in excess of $1billion.

Michael previously worked in research and development and was a divisional manager for a private Australian engineering company.
He completed his Master’s of Science in Germany and his Doctorate in Business Administration in Melbourne in the field of Corporate Entrepreneurship and Innovation.

THE HON ERIC S RIPPER BA DipEd MLA
Deputy Premier; Treasurer; Minister for State Development

Eric Ripper has been Western Australia's Deputy Premier and Treasurer since the State Labor Government was first elected in February 2001. Mr Ripper is also Minister for State Development.

The Treasurer is responsible for delivering Western Australia's $15billion a year State Budget; preserving the State's AAA credit rating; and overseeing the Government's economic reform agenda.

As State Development Minister, Mr Ripper has responsibility for facilitaitng and coordinating the State's major resources projects.

Mr Ripper is also responsible for native title, delivering recognition of traditional rights to Western Australia's Indigenous people.

He was elected to the Western Australian State Parliament in 1988 and previous Ministerial portfolios have included:

Minister for Government Enterprises;
Minister for Energy;
Minister for Community Services; and
Minister for Disability Services.

Born in 1951, Mr Ripper was raised on a wheat and sheep farm at Nyabing in the Great Southern and educated at Nyabing Primary School, Churchlands Senior High School and the University of Western Australia, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts and a Diploma of Education.

Mr Ripper lives in his electorate of Belmont and has two adult children.

Dean Rosenfield

Dean Rosenfield joined Saab Systems in 2001 and as General Manager leads it’s Security Systems Division whose vision is to create a safer society through the protection of people, businesses, energy and information flows by simplifying intelligence for real time decisions. Prior to taking up this role he served as an Army Officer for 15 years before moving to industry in 1999 as a Management Consultant. Since joining Saab he has held a number of roles including Systems Engineering Manager, Project Manager and Sales Director. Dean is married with two children, enjoys outdoor adventure activities and holds a Master Degree in Management (University of New South Wales)..
