RFID Asia Summit 2008

Leadership

Several trends and interesting cases are emerging for 2008. Of which we see Europe continuing to lead in terms of innovation while the US is leading in terms of services implementation. Asia is delivering on tag volumes due to its role in the RFID-enabled supply chain as the world’s production source but lacks far behind in significant deployments. Asia is still struggling with the ROI conundrum but needs to move beyond it in the leadership race; developing countries can be just as effective in this emerging technology but the window is closing as the intelligence/creative gap widens.

Noteworthy pilots are taking place in the region particularly Japan, Korea, Singapore where RFID is a strategic national initiative. Can Asia innovate to a leadership position? How does the CHINDIA effect change the dynamics of the RFID industry as these two giant economies come online to the global RFID-enabled supply chain. What are the spin off effects?

Imagination takes flight
The 2008 conference theme will be to go beyond the ROI fixation, to inspire the next phase of RFID thinking in Asia and to encourage learning through idea “cross fertilization” across industries.

What similarities does RFID in the Tire industry have with RFID deployments in the Pharmaceutical industry?Did you know the revolutionary A380 making its maiden voyage from Singapore to Sydney contains over 10000 RFID tags? RFID is in active use today. From innovative uses that interact with the public such as Singapore's National Library board( the country's largest RFID user) to creative customer experience enhancements by The Jewelry Store in the U.A.E. The world of RFID is here. Don’t be left behind.
