Mr Andrew Philip
Managing Director
Retirement Communities Australia

My background in the retirement living and residential aged care industry initially involved the provision of strategic advise (via a career in Investment Banking) to major institutional property investors and funds managers looking to enter this exciting sector of the property market.

Later, through a consultancy, I assisted industry operators with retirement living projects both in Australia and in Asia.

This consultancy base evolved into a role as Chief Operating Officer of Australian Retirement Communities, then Australia’s largest privately owned, fully integrated retirement living and residential aged care developer and operator.

In March 2007 ARC was acquired by Stockland, where I continued as Regional Manager, Stockland Retirement Living, with responsibility for:

• setting strategy and managing its implementation; and
• managing the profitable operation of Stockland Retirement Living in Victoria, including:

  - identifying new retirement village opportunities;
  - developing new village sites and other business opportunities;
  - constructing of new villages and facilities;
  - marketing and selling retirement village stock; and
  - ongoing management and administration of completed facilities.

In February 2008, I left Stockland to become Managing Director of, and a shareholder in Retirement Communities Australia.  RCA is a developer, builder and owner/operator of retirement villages in Australia.

Prior to my involvement in the retirement living industry, I have 20 years experience in accounting, finance and investment banking.
