Prepaid Cards Asia Summit 2008
The Prepaid Silver Bullet?
Could prepaid be the “silver bullet” to unlock new revenue by supporting transactions for Asia’s unbanked billions? Perhaps it’s just one more new quiver to add to your arsenal of munitions in waging the war for a winning cards portfolio. Could a prepaid strategy involve transitioning a younger segment into credit cards? Capturing and releasing money at will is the promise of prepaid. Asia has seen the likes of prepaid in the form of store value phone cards taking the masses by storm. But this is only a limited rendition. What’s the attraction? What new creative uses can we derive – incentive cards, payroll cards, health-saving account cards, etc.? How do we develop and market effective programs? Should we be concerned with issues of money laundering? Is there new potential combining prepaid with the internet? What of combining prepaid with debit? Where are the top growth segments for prepaid in Asia? How much money is there to be made from top up services?
PSE Consulting released a report in Aug 2006 estimating a 110 percent increase in the prepaid industry over the following 4 years in Europe. Europeans are expected to spend €75 billion (US $95 billion) on prepaid cards by 2010. In December 2006, Visa introduced the first contactless prepaid product to the US fueling the trend for micropayments. And the US is no small market; Aite estimates prepaid card spending will hit US $178 billion by 2010. That’s an enviable market to snatch.
The Inaugural Prepaid Cards Asia Summit 2008 promises to be THE premier prepaid event in Asia with a strong emphasis on professional, end-user driven content. Discover together the trends and mechanics behind a profitable prepaid program and how you can achieve new revenue growth here in Asia.
