Mr. Berlin is currently the Head of Market Analysis and Development for Norilsk Nickel, a leading global mining company headquartered in Russia. Norilsk Nickel is Russia’s largest producer of nickel and palladium and a major supplier of copper, cobalt, gold, platinum and other platinum group metals to world markets. Mr. Berlin has held this post since 2003. He has been with Norilsk Nickel since 1999. He was also Senior Lecturer at Moscow State Aircraft Technology University from 1999 to 2003.
Prior to working for Norilsk Nickel, Mr. Berlin was the Head of Laboratory at Moscow State Aircraft Technology University and the Head of Foreign Trade Department at Elincom Company.
Mr. Berlin was educated at Moscow State Aircraft Technology University, receiving a Masters Degree with a specialty in Systems Engineering and Production Administration for Aircraft Instruments and Flight Control Systems. He was born in Moscow, where he resides with his wife and two children.

Kate Hoey has been the Labour Member of Parliament for Vauxhall, South London since a by-election in 1989.
She was appointed Parliamentary Private Secretary to Frank Field, the Minister for Welfare Reform, after the election of the Labour Government in 1997. Before then she was a member of the Social Security Select Committee and the Broadcasting Select Committee. In July 1998 she was appointed as a Minister in the Home Office before becoming the UK's first female Sports Minister in 1999 - a position she held until the 2001 General Election.
Since then she has been an active backbencher promoting the views and interests of constituents in Parliament. She is very interested in foreign affairs - visiting Sarajevo at the height of the siege, monitoring the first democratic elections in Angola, and visiting Zimbabwe undercover in 2003, 2005 and 2006 to investigate the deteriorating political and humanitarian crisis. Kate chairs the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Zimbabwe.
She is proudly independent minded and is one of the small number of Labour MPs who voted against a ban on hunting, opposed the war in Iraq, renewal of Trident, foundation hospitals, university tuition and top-up fees, ID cards, and extended detention without trial, and wants a referendum on the EU Constitution.

Mr. Holohan graduated in 1979 with a Bachelors of Science degree in Physical and Extractive Metallurgy from Leeds University (United Kingdom) and is a Chartered Engineer (QP) through the IMMM (United Kingdom). Mr. Holohan joined Platmin as Chief Operating Officer in June of 2007. He most recently (2003 to mid 2006) held the position of Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for Ivanhoe Nickel and Platinum Limited. He has extensive experience in the design, construction and operation of large platinum group metal mines, smelters and refineries previously (2002 to 2003) holding positions as Business Manager, and Alternative Director, for Anglo Platinum and its subsidiary that operated the Rustenburg Base Metal Refinery and the Waterval Smelter. He has also held senior management positions for both Impala Platinum and BHP Billiton.

Prior to joining Rio Tinto, David worked as an advisor on minerals policy to the UK government.

Prior to her move to Navistar, Rita was a Purchasing Manager at One Stop Steel in St. Louis, MO, where she managed the purchasing department. She has over 13 years experience in the steel industry. Ms. Thurmon-Moore earned a BS degree in Marketing from Roosevelt University and a MBA from Washington University.

An executive director and senior strategist, John has worked for UBS since 1996. In addition to his current role he was also UBS' gold equity analyst in Johannesburg between 1996 and 1999 and worked as a Foreign Exchange strategist with responsibility for European time-zone emerging market currencies between 2003 and 2006.
Educated at the Royal School of Mines, part of Imperial College, London, he worked for eight years in the South African gold mining industry as a mining engineer with responsibility for production and new projects at various operations of the forerunner to South Africa's second largest gold mining company.

Michael Solomon has 28 years professional experience as a practicing engineer within the mining industry in many commodities including gold, platinum, diamonds and base metals as a mining engineer and mine manager, and some 17 years in the consulting engineering environment as a Senior Mining Engineer with SRK Consulting and Principle Mining Engineer with EL Bateman and The Mineral Corporation.
During the political transition in South Africa in 1992-1994, he was a member of the African National Congress Minerals and Energy Group, and participated in the development of transformation strategies for the South African mining industry and the consequent drafting of the ANC minerals policy. This policy formed the basis of the country’s current Minerals and Petroleum Resources Development Act. After the 1994 elections he was a founder member of the Minerals and Energy Policy Centre where he served as Senior Policy Analyst and Head of Minerals Policy.
He has subsequently served as an advisor to labour, a number of African governments and multinational organisations, including UNCTAD, the EU and the World Economic Forum and was the mining expert on South Africa’s Water Advisory Council.
In 2007 he was voted into sixth place of the top 10 South African Business Leaders by a panel consisting of the University of Cape Town Business School, the South African Institute of Directors, the Afrikaanse Handels Instituut and Business Report. He was recently appointed as a member of the World Economic Forum’s Global Agenda Council on the Future of Metals and Mining.
He currently serves as Chief Executive Officer of Wesizwe Platinum Limited, a South African platinum exploration and mining company listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange.

Mike Steel was Market Research & Planning Director of the Precious Metals Division of Johnson Matthey (JM) until he retired in May 2006. He headed JM’s global precious metals research team, which produces long-term forecasts of supply and demand for platinum-group metals for JM and Anglo Platinum and publishes JM’s acclaimed biannual market reviews Platinum. In addition, he was responsible for JM’s technical publication Platinum Metals Review and its internet portal Fuel Cell Today. Mike has a keen interest in Russia, having established JM’s Moscow office in 1993 and managed JM’s operations there until his retirement.
Mike graduated in chemistry and has a PhD in catalysis. He joined JM in 1972 as part of the team that developed the first commercial autocatalysts before moving into market research. He now does some consulting on precious metals but is mainly just enjoying retirement.

Alex Vines is Director of Research for Regional and Security Studies at Chatham House since September 2008 and has run its Africa programme since 2002. He was Chair of the UN Group of Experts on Côte d’Ivoire from 2005 to 2007 and was a member of the UN Group of Experts on Liberia from 2001 to 2003. For nine years he was a senior researcher at the Arms and Africa Divisions of Human Rights Watch working on Angola until 2002 and now works part-time for its Business and Human Rights Division. Prior to joining Human Rights Watch, he was the Africa Analyst at the international political risk consultancy Control Risks and has been a research associate of Queen Elizabeth House, University of Oxford and a Macarthur NGO Fellow at the Department of War Studies, King’s College, University of London. He was a research assistant for National Museums and Monuments of Zimbabwe in 1989 and has lived and worked in Mozambique, Angola and Kenya. He sits on several academic editorial boards including the South Africa Journal of International Affairs and was awarded an OBE in the 2008 Queens Birthday Honours for his work on Africa.

Dr Paul Walker is the Chief Executive Officer of GFMS, in addition to being responsible for gold, silver and PGM research in East Asia, India and South Africa. He joined the company in 1995.
After graduating with degrees in commerce and economics from the University of Cape Town, Paul worked as an economics researcher for a Member of Parliament in the UK House of Commons before joining the United Nations affiliated International Lead and Zinc Study Group, where he was involved in a wide range of economic studies and forecasts.
He has a PhD in the application of mathematical optimization to large non-linear economic systems from the University of Nottingham in the UK.

Jenny specialises in PGM demand at SFA with particular emphasis on new technologies that may impact demand for PGMs. This includes monitoring and evaluating announcements that may offer new markets for PGMs and those that pose threats from thrifting and substitution. Recent assignments have included studies of the automotive market and the potential of alternative transport technologies to displace current vehicle technology. Previously, she worked on new product development (with several patents granted), technology transfer and process improvement in the industrial materials industry in Europe and the US.
