The prepaid landscape is emerging as one of the fastest growing trends in retail.  Prepaid cards (or open loop prepaid card) transactions will amount to about US $150 billion by 2009, up from US$12.8 billion in 2004. 

 

The European prepaid card market is in its infancy but currently accounts for 2% of retail sales, with industry experts predicting that by 2010 the cards will be responsible for 3.1 a turnover of 79bn.
