During her 26 years as a business person Bea represented business on numerous bodies in local, regional and state arenas.
She has been a member of Commerce Queensland for over 15 years and has experience in the areas of explosives construction, small business, primary production and regional development. She is currently Chair of the Commerce Queensland Far North Queensland Regional Committee, Cairns.
In 2006 Bea was elected as the first female director to the Australian Chamber of Commerce & Industry and Chairs the new Australian Chambers Alliance.

Prior to his appointment as Chief Executive, John was Deputy Chief Executive and General Manager, Minerals and Energy, Department of Business, Industry and Resource Development.  From November 2001 to November 2002, he was the department’s General Manager, Business and Trade Development.
John came to the Territory in March 2000 and was Chief Executive Officer of the Northern Territory’s Department of Industries and Business until November 2001.

Jeremy Dawkins was appointed Chairman of the Western Australian Planning Commission in 2004.  A planner, academic and designer, he was city planner at Fremantle, commissioner of the Australian Heritage Commission and foundation director of the postgraduate urban planning program at the University of Technology Sydney.  More recently he reorganised the planning of Sydney Harbour for the NSW Government and, for the Australian Government, designed a new national model for streamlined planning approvals.

Paul Henderson was appointed a Minister in the Northern Territory’s first Labor Government following the party’s historic election win in August 2001. He was appointed 26 November 2007 as Labor’s second Chief Minister.
That appointment included the two important new ministries of Climate Change, and Territory-Federal Relations and Statehood.
He was elected as the Member for Wanguri, in Darwin’s northern suburbs, in a byelection in 1999 and has held the seat in two consecutive Northern Territory elections in 2001 and 2005.

Eric was previously the CEO of the City of Melville since 2006.  Prior to his appointment at the City of Melville, he had been the CEO at the City of Swan since December 1989.  Prior to that, he was Director of Planning and Development at the then Shire of Swan and also at the Shire of Mundaring.
During his time at the City of Swan, Eric has been involved in major planning studies at both the Local and Regional levels and has played a major role in planning strategies for the Eastern Region and more recently, he has been heavily involved in the planning process entitled “Dialogue with the City”.

Robert Macleod joined Council in 2000 and has been appointed Deputy Mayor twice and now elected as the new Mayor.  Robert's vision for Palmerston is for a clean, friendly and safe city.

His particular area of concern is the provision of adequate services and facilities for youth and sporting clubs in the Palmerston area, town planning and better infrastructure in and around Palmerston.

Robert and his wife Pam own the Janome Sewing business in Darwin and are very active community volunteers and fundraisers for various charities in Palmerston and Darwin.

Robert and his family built their house in Palmerston in 1994; both their children have gone to Palmerston schools and have worked in the Palmerston area.

Mayor Macleod represents Council as a member on all committees and organisations, in particular:

  • Palmerston Safe Communities Committee (Chair),
  • Seniors Advisory Committee – (Chair)
  • Entrepreneurial Working Party (Chair),
  • Sister City Advisory Committee, (Chair), and
  • Palmerston Regional Business Association.

Bob McCarthy’s reputation as a proactive, results-driven executive administrator and policy maker has been cemented over the past 30 years in his work in the private sector, and federal and state governments.
Bob is currently the Director-General of the Department of Tourism, Regional Development Industry.
In this position Bob leads a staff totaling more than 800 people who are responsible for initiatives which capitalise on Queensland’s advantages to grow regional economies and strengthen industries.
In this role Bob is responsible for delivering the Smart Industry Policy, which will improve productivity levels across key Queensland priority industries, and rolling-out the Centres of Enterprise initiative, which will build the economic strength of regional areas by focusing on their particular industry strengths.

She worked as a commercial lawyer in Perth and London before joining the Ministry of Premier & Cabinet as General Counsel in 1994.  In 1999 Deidre was appointed Chief of Staff to then Premier Hon Richard Court.
In 2001, Deidre moved to Melbourne where she was General Manager, Executive Services for the Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games.
