Barrie Barton
Creative Director
Right Angle Media

Having watched an episode of LA Law at the age of 12, Barrie Barton foolishly told his parents he would be a lawyer, but after a bitter five years of study at ANU in Canberra, Barrie decided law was for dogs. Throwing caution to the wind, Barton entered the marketing and media industry, including stints as Editor of Large Magazine then Australia’s largest free-press title, and National Marketing Manager at Moonlight Cinema – a position Barrie says personified everything he didn’t want out of corporate media and communications culture, kulcha or culture kultur (depending where you went to school).

A brief sabbatical later, Barrie founded established Right Angle Publishing which, via it’s flagship title ThreeThousand.com.au  delivers sub-cultural snapshots of Melbourne via email to an audience of inner-urban dwellers. The immediate success of the title led to commissioned work for The City of Melbourne and Tourism Victoria, as well interstate iterations of the publication in Sydney and Brisbane.

Right Angle Publishing now produces seminal ‘underground’ guides to Australia’s largest cities, delivering assiduously researched content across film, art, reading, dancing, drinking, letching, listening and other monkey business. The company’s monthly audience reaches up to 100,000 people, which explains in part why Barton was selected by The Age Melbourne Magazine as one of the city’s top 100 most influential people.

Francisco Cordero
General Manager Australia
Bebo

With a deep understanding of both traditional and online media environments garnered from the past seventeen years in the industry, Andrew Cordwell is a steady influence in a pivotal role leading the Fox Interactive Media, Australian & New Zealand sales team.

When speaking specifically about MySpace.com, Andrew admits the position of the social networking site has changed, “MySpace is now well and truly top of mind for Australian consumers when they are going online…. as the 4th most popular website  Australians from all walks of life are increasingly heading to MySpace.com to discover, be entertained as well as share, connect and communicate with their friends.”
Andrew has grown up in the advertising sales environment through the 1990s, spending the first six years of his career working with suburban newspapers in the Cumberland Newspaper Group, then moving to metropolitan newspapers for four years within the News Limited business, working on The Daily Telegraph, Sunday Telegraph and The Australian Magazine.

Taking the leap from traditional print media to the digital online environment was an obvious one for Andrew, moving in January 2001 to ninemsn where he worked his way up to become the Group Sales Manager within PBL Media. In 2003 Andrew then moved within the PBL business to take up the Network Sports Executive position at the Nine Network.

Feeling the pull back to the digital space in January 2006, Andrew headed to News Digital, and in March 2007 took up the Director of Sales role at Fox Interactive Media.
