Joao Adamo Jr. - Mr. Adamo is a Managing Partner at Vision Brazil Investments. Mr. Adamo has an extensive background in banking sector. He previously worked with UBS group focusing in implementing and developing Wealth Management products platform in Brazil.
During his stay he also played an important role in the integration of Banco Pactual into UBS platform a deal of $3 billion. Prior he worked at Deutsche Bank from 1997 to 2003 as Head of Structured Products. During his period at Deutsche Bank he was appointed as the Country Head of Maxblue Investments - a start up initiative of Deutsche in Latin America. In 2001 Mr. Adamo sold 49% of Deutsche Bank’s stake to Banco do Brasil.
Prior to that Mr. Adamo spent 5 years at Banco Fenícia, a Brazilian Investment Bank, known as an innovative house in terms of Asset Backed Securitization in Brazil back in 1995. Mr. Adamo holds a MS in Philosophy from PUC-SP. Also he has a BA from Fundação Getúlio Vargas and a JD from University of São Paulo Law School.

Edward I. Altman is the Max L. Heine Professor of Finance at the Stern School of Business, New York University. He is the Director of Research in Credit and Debt Markets at the NYU Salomon Center for the Study of Financial Institutions. Prior to serving in his present position, Professor Altman chaired the Stern School's MBA Program for 12 years.
He has been a visiting Professor at the Hautes Etudes Commerciales and Universite de Paris-Dauphine in France, at the Pontificia Catolica Universidade in Rio de Janeiro, at the Australian Graduate School of Management in Sydney, Luigi Bocconi University in Milan and CEMFI in Madrid. Dr. Altman was named to the Max L. Heine endowed professorship at Stern in 1988.

Andres Azicri is the president and founder of Convex Management. Mr. Azicri is the CIO of the Convex Fund. Prior to founding Convex, Andres Azicri was a Managing Partner of Cima Investments and the senior portfolio manager of the Cima Aconcagua Fund, with over 20% average return during the period under his management (2000-2006).
He was also president of Safimar S.A. , a local mutual fund manager. Before joining Cima, Mr. Azicri was the head of Asset Management at MBA, prior to which he headed the Proprietary Desk for Latin America at Bankers Trust in New York (1997-1999) and the Emerging Markets Fixed Income Research Department at Oppenheimer & Co., in New York (1995-1997). He has more than fifteen years of experience in financial markets in Argentina and abroad.
Mr. Azicri is an economist from the University of Buenos Aires (1988), and has a Master in Economics from Instituto Di Tella (1991) and a Master of Science in Economics from the University of London (1992). He is currently a professor of finance at CEMA University and the University of Buenos Aires . He served as an external consultant for the Argentine gas regulator ENARGAS (2000), and for the Peruvian Pension Fund Regulator (1996).

Dr. Inés Bustillo is the Director of the Washington Office of the United Nations Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC). She joined ECLAC in 1989 as Economic Affairs Officer working on a variety of areas ranging from macroeconomic analysis, international trade, and financial flows. In addition, she has been involved as coordinator of ECLAC’ s provision of technical support to the ongoing negotiations for a free trade area in the Western Hemisphere.
Prior to joining ECLAC, Dr. Bustillo was Professor of Economics at Universidad Anáhuac in Mexico where she taught international trade and finance and microeconomic theory. She was, as well, Visiting Faculty at The American University in Washington D.C.
Previous positions include consultant to the World Bank, the Center for Latin American and Monetary Studies (CEMLA), and Operadora de Bolsa in Mexico City.
She is the author of several articles and is a frequent lecturer on the Latin American economies at universities, think tanks, and other fora.
Dr. Bustillo holds a doctorate in Economics from The American University.

Cole Partners, created in 1998, is a unique marketing and sales consultantcy specializing in alternative investments. In starting Cole Partners, Brad developed a targeted, niche, and opportunistic business strategy that leverages partnerships with respected investment managers.
Prior to founding Cole Partners in 1998, Brad served as the Vice President and Director of Sales and Marketing for Sjo, Incorporated, a Chicago-based alternative investment manager. Brad began his career at Goldman Sachs, where he was hired as part of their currency arbitrage group on the International Monetary Market (IMM). He applied this analytical foundation as Vice President at Dean Witter, where he managed the institutional currency futures and options desk.
Brad is a member of the Managed Futures Association (MFA), and the Alternative Investment Management Association (AIMA). Henrique de Campos Meirelles has been Governor of the Central Bank of Brazil since January 2003.
Prior to this position, he was President of BankBoston and FleetBoston’s Corporate and Global Bank. Mr. Meirelles joined the company in 1974 and became President and Regional Manager in Brazil in 1984. Mr. Meirelles was appointed President and COO of BankBoston Corporation in 1996. He was named President of FleetBoston’s Corporate and Global Bank in October 1999, following the merger of BankBoston and Fleet Financial Group. He was a member of the Board of Directors of BankBoston Corp, FleetBoston Financial, Raytheon Corporation, Bestfoods and Champion International.
Mr. Meirelles also participated in Advisory Boards of the Harvard Kennedy School of Government, Sloan School of Management of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Carroll School of Management of the Boston College and of the Board of Trustees of New England Conservatory of Music and of the Institute of Contemporary Arts of Boston.
Mr. Meirelles was elected a Congressman in Brazil in 2002.

Dirk Donath joined Eton Park Capital Management as Managing Director, responsible for Eton Park’s private equity and illiquid investments in Emerging Markets. Prior to joining Eton Park, Dirk was a Founding Partner and Managing Director of Pegasus Capital. Pegasus is a principal investment firm focused on distressed private equity, turnarounds and restructurings in Latin America. Before founding Pegasus, Dirk was a Partner of McKinsey & Company and was based out of the Mercosur Office in Buenos Aires.
Dirk was head of McKinsey’s Latin American Consumer Goods and Retail Practice and also a leader of the Latin American Corporate Finance and Strategy Practice. He originally joined McKinsey in 1988 and previously worked in the New York, London and Madrid offices.
Dirk is also the Founder and Creator of FarmaCity, the leading retail pharmacy chain in Argentina with over 78 outlets, revenues of $700 million and over 2,200 employees. At FarmaCity, Dirk was Chairman and served on the Board of Directors. Dirk is also on the Board of the Latin American Advisor of the Inter-American Dialogue.
Dirk graduated with honors from Yale University with a BA in Economics (with distinction) and studied international relations at Oxford University in England. He received an MBA degree from Harvard Business School.

Mr. Donayre is the Chief Investment Officer and founder of INCA Investments, LLC, a Latin American investment management firm based in Miami. INCA Investments has approximately US$300 million in assets under management in hedged and long-biased mandates. Before founding INCA Investments, Mr. Donayre was employed by Zephyr Management, L.P. from 1996 through 2003. At Zephyr he was the sole portfolio manager for the Zephyr Latin America Fund since its inception in 1997. Mr. Donayre continues to manage the investment strategy of the Zephyr Latin American Fund via INCA Management’s subadvisory role. From 1994 through 1996, Mr. Donayre was the Director of Research at Globalvest Management, which at the time was the largest Latin American specialty investment manager in the world. From 1988 through 1994 he was in charge of international and emerging market equity investments for the Investments Department of FPL Group.
Mr. Donayre is a native of Peru and has lived in South America, Mexico and the Caribbean. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst, a Certified Public Accountant and received his M.B.A. in International Business from the University of Florida. Mr. Donayre is a long-time student of the Latin American markets and has published a variety of articles on the subject including “Investing in Latin America: Good Idea, Bad Time?” in the Journal of Investments (Summer 1994) and “Latin America: History Repeats?” in Benefits and Pension Monitor (Summer 1995).

Ms. Klingebiel is a Principal Investment Officer for the World Bank’s Pension Fund where she is co-managing the USD 2.8 bn hedge fund assets across two portfolios. The portfolios are diversified across all hedge fund strategies and consist each of about 40 managers. Since joining the hedge fund team, she has strengthened the asset allocation, manager selection and risk management tools and has restructured the risk management processes. Previously, she was responsible for the international equity portfolio, the currency portfolio and the GTAA portfolio. In that capacity, she developed quantitative tools for manager selection and portfolio construction and developed a currency trading model for 11 developed market currencies that trades live.
Ms. Klingebiel has also worked in the World Bank’s Financial Sector Policy and Strategy, the Private Sector Development Department, and the Macroeconomics Department of the East Asia and Pacific Region. In that capacity, she has provided advice on financial sector issues including pensions to the governments of Brazil, Guinea, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Mali, the Philippines, Poland, Russia, South Korea, Thailand and Vietnam.
She has published extensively in the areas of pension management, capital markets, financial crises, banking, enterprise and financial sector restructuring, and internationalization of financial services in leading professional and academic journals. Ms. Klingebiel joined the World Bank in 1995 as a member of the Young Professionals Program.

Prior to joining Moneda (1996-1998 & 2000-2006), he worked at Bancard, a Chilean investment company, assuming as CEO from 1997 under Mr. Rivera’s management, Bancard’s investment portfolio grew from us$ 250 million to us$ 1,300 million, investing in financial securities such as equities, derivatives, corporate bonds, distressed debt, syndicated loans, commodities, etc mainly from Latin American companies and U.S. companies. He also led several private equity processes, acquiring companies such as Chilevisión, Constructora Aconcagua, Chile.com web portal, etc.
Mr. Rivera holds a Master of Business Administration degree from Harvard Business School, and a business administration degree from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. He also acts as part time professor in that University dictating finance courses.

Before coming to The California Endowment in July 2006, Ms. Sanchez was a portfolio manager and strategist for 8 years at American Century Investment Management in Mountain View, CA. At American Century she was the Co-Lead Manager for $6 billion in assets in the Strategic Asset Allocation Funds, Life-Style, Age-Based and 529 College Savings Fund of Funds. She recommended the overall asset allocation and implemented overlay strategies for the fund. Prior to American Century, she was an investment analyst in JP Morgan Emerging Markets Research Department in New York City covering the local currency debt for Mexico, Eastern Europe and Asia. Ms. Sanchez is a regular Market Maven for CNBC’s Power Lunch as well as a regular guest on Bloomberg TV and Radio. She is frequently quoted in Barron’s, Bloomberg, The New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, etc. She received her A.B. in economics from the Harvard University and an MS in international economic policy from Stanford University.

The Hon. Ronald Scheman is currently Chairman and CEO of iMallsGlobal, Inc. Mr. Scheman has been involved in inter-American affairs and has held various positions in finance, law and academics for over 40 years. He had been the U.S. Executive Director of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) from 1993-1998 and from 2000-2004 he was Director General of the Inter-American Agency for Cooperation and Development (IACD), established by the Organization of American States (OAS) to manage inter-American technical cooperation and training efforts.
In the private sector, most recently he was Senior Advisor to Kissinger McLarty Associates in Washington, D.C. Mr. Scheman was Chair of the International Finance Practice of the law firm, Greenberg Traurig (1998-2000). Previously he was senior partner in the firm of Heller, Rosenblatt & Scheman. He has served as advisor to numerous governments and corporations as president of Porter International Company between 1970-1975.

Roland Staub is the joint founder of TS Holdings Overseas Corp. and is Managing Director of its three Swiss subsidiary companies: TS Trust GmbH (since April 2003), TS Trustee Suisse AG (since November 2003), and FS Finance Suisse GmbH (since August 2005). Mr. Suarez was the founder and former Chairman & CEO of Midtown Bank & Trust Company, from its inception in August 2002 through May 2004. Mr. Suarez began his banking career in 1983 with First American Bank in Atlanta, Georgia. Mr. Suarez helped form and became the Manager of the bank’s Private Banking Group. From 1987 until 1992, Mr. Suarez worked with Buckhead Bank (which merged with Chattahoochee Bank) in the Midtown Atlanta market as Vice President and Manager of the bank’s second largest corporate office, which was known as the Midtown Banking House. During 1992 and 1993, he also served as President of The Ayoub Group, Inc., a small merchant bank owned by a former CFO of the Coca Cola Company.

Mr. Vieira is Director of Asset Management and Head of Fund Advisory Services of Safdié Group in Brazil. He began his career in 1992, as a fixed income sales & trading associate at FAMA DTVM. In 1997, he joined PEBB Bank, one of the primary dealers of the Brazilian Central Bank. In 2002, he was hired by GPS - Global Portfolio Strategists, the biggest multi-family office in Brazil. There, he was responsible for the on-shore asset allocation and products.
Mr. Vieira left GPS and joined the Safdié Group in December, 2005. He holds a BA in business administration and post-graduate degree in finance from Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (PUC-RJ). He undertook an MBA program at Thunderbird, The Garvin School of International Management in Phoenix, AZ.
