Hans-Martin Aerts is the Senior Portfolio Manager, Asian Infrastructure of APG Investments Asia Limited. Amitabh Bhargava is a Director at Deutsche Asset Management (India) Pty. Ltd. and is based in Mumbai. In his role, Mr. Bhargava is responsible for origination, execution and ongoing management of infrastructure investments as well as portfolio strategy and client relationships. Mr. Bhargava has over 15 years of experience in infrastructure, ranging from energy, transport to utilities sectors. He has performed varied roles in transaction advisory, project finance, corporate banking, private equity and operations. Prior to joining Deutsche Asset Management, Mr. Bhargava had a brief stint with Macquarie India as an Associate Director, where he was responsible for origination and execution of investments in the infrastructure sector. Prior to Macquarie, Mr. Bhargava worked with ICICI Bank and ICICI Venture, where he was involved in various deals and roles such as transaction advice in the power sector, project finance in the power, transport and oil & gas sectors, and private equity in utilities and real estate companies. During his tenure at ICICI Bank, Mr. Bhargava represented the bank on the boards of a number of portfolio companies. Mr. Bhargava has a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management from S. P. Jain Institute of Management & Research, Mumbai and a graduate degree in Chemical Engineering from Institute of Technology, Banaras Hindu University (IT, BHU), Varanasi.

John joined ABN AMRO in 1998 after 20 years with Hansen Yuncken where he led the project development group. The ABN AMRO infrastructure group was widely recognised as one of the leaders in structuring social and economic infrastructure transactions and for taking the principal position on these projects. Amitabh is Director of India Research at Trusted Sources and is based in New Delhi. He joined Trusted Sources in early 2007. Over the past year Amitabh has been jointly responsible for the production of India Infrastructure: Playing Catch Up - a research report examining the infrastructure sector in India which identifies likely developments in key infrastructure sectors including electric power, roads, ports and harbours, airports and civil aviation and railways. Amitabh’s work on the report, as well as detailing the key investment opportunities in each sector, offers an in-depth assessment of the political and policy context surrounding infrastructure development. His other recent Trusted Sources research publications include: ‘India's power merchants’; Indian retail logistics’ and ‘Moderating the flow’. Before joining Trusted Sources, Amitabh held the position of India analyst at Eurasia Group, a political risk consultancy, having previously worked as a business journalist in India. He holds degrees in economics and political science from Delhi University, the University of Chicago and Columbia University.

Gajendra Haldea graduated in Economics and Law at the University of Rajasthan and joined the Indian Administrative Service in 1973. He later went for a Fellowship at the London School of Economics. Among a wide array of assignments, he has spent 10 years with the Union Finance Ministry where he was last posted as Joint Secretary (Infrastructure) until November 1998. The combination of law, economics and finance coupled with his extensive experience in several sectors of the economy have placed him in a unique position for contributing to the evolution of the framework and policies for privatisation of infrastructure services. While in the Ministry of Finance, he was responsible for infrastructure sectors, exchange control, economic relations with the Americas, Project Monitoring Unit and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) portfolio. He was closely involved in policy formulation and implementation relating to infrastructure sectors. He also made significant improvements to the ADB portfolio in India including a sharp increase in disbursement ratios reaching a record 30 percent plus. In his different assignments over the years, he has been responsible for dealing with the World Bank, Asian Development Bank and various bilateral developmental agencies such as USAID, CIDA, JICA, etc. and has formulated and negotiated several infrastructure projects with these agencies. He advised the Government of Rajasthan on commercialisation of infrastructure services and is also drafting the model framework for privatization of state highways. He also advised the Government of Chhattisgarh on the legal and policy framework for BOT road projects. He was on the board of the Chhattisgarh Infrastructure Development Corporation (CIDC) chaired by the Chief Minister. He is also the Advisor to Government of Punjab on Public Private Partnerships for State Highway projects. In that capacity, he is responsible for structuring and bidding out 12 BOT road projects in the State. He was invited to join the National Council of Applied Economic Research, New Delhi as Chief Advisor and Head of the Centre for Infrastructure and Regulation and took that position in October 2000. Since November 2004, he is also Adviser to the Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission with particular responsibilities relating to infrastructure reforms.

Mr Surinder Singh Kohli is presently Chairman & Managing Director of India Infrastructure Finance Company Ltd, a wholly Government of India owned company engaged in the promotion and development of infrastructure. Mr Kohli has a long experience as a banker, spanning over 35 years having held positions of Chairman and Managing Director of Punjab National Bank, the third largest bank in India. Akshaya joined Goldman Sachs in 2000 in the Advisory Group in London where he specialised in complex cross-border situations across a number of industry sectors. Akshaya transferred to the Infrastructure Investment Group in early 2007. He moved to Mumbai in 2008 and is responsible for the Group’s business in India.

Manikkan recently joined Babcock & Brown to head its infrastructure business in India. Prior to Babcock & Brown, Manikkan was with ABN AMRO for around 10 years and was Head of M&A for ABN AMRO in India, with an experience of over 13 years in investment banking. He was educated in Mumbai (with a first class Honours in Mechanical Engineering and Master of Management Studies) and in UK (MSc – Business Economics, from University of Buckingham). He is also a qualified Securities lawyer from the Government Law College, Mumbai. Prior to ABN AMRO, he was an Associate Director in the Equities business of UBS Warburg for over 3 years. Manikkan has extensive experience of advising on a number of infrastructure and complex crossborder M&A, privatisation and capital raising for Indian corporates across a wide range of industry sectors. In recent years, Manikkan has played a key role in advising clients on a number of high profile infrastructure and M&A transactions, select few are listed below: • Advised AAI & Government of India on the award winning transaction on the privatisation of the Delhi and Mumbai airports with a deal size of US$2.4 bn. Anoop spearheads AMP Capital Investors’ infrastructure investments in Asia. He joined AMP Capital in 2007 from ABN AMRO, where he was Executive Director responsible for public sector businesses in India. A key achievement was his role in advising the Government of India during the recent privatisation of the Mumbai and Delhi airports – India’s largest privatisation to date. Anoop has previously worked as Vice President with Bechtel Enterprises, focussing on equity investment opportunities in a range of infrastructure sectors – airports, power, rail and water both within India and the UK. As Vice President Finance of Reliance Industries, Anoop was a senior member of the financing team for the US$4b integrated petrochemical and infrastructure complex at Jamnagar. He has been in the World Bank Group since 1996 and has worked on infrastructure financing in various capacities across South and Central Asia. Rajesh covers both public and private sector infrastructure financing for IFC. He is responsible for developing a public sector infrastructure financing engagement for IFC in India. Robert is currently a Managing Director in Macquarie Capital Funds and has been with Macquarie since 1999. Currently located in the Singapore office, Robert is focused on the establishment and further development of the Macquarie State Bank of India Infrastructure Group Fund. Robert will take an active role in the ongoing management of the fund, including the assessment and analysis of investment opportunities, management of assets owned by the fund, investor relations and oversight of the finance, tax, legal and compliance functions of the fund. Robert has held CFO and COO positions for several infrastructure funds managed by Macquarie, and was involved in the acquisition and ongoing asset management of several high-profile infrastructure businesses.

Nick is the Head of Macquarie Capital Funds for Asia and the Middle East. He has been with Macquarie Capital since 1997 and has been based in Asia since 1998. Prior to joining Macquarie, Nick spent 10 years mostly in the United Kingdom, working in real estate project finance, construction, development and investment management. Over the past decade, Nick has gained specialised experience in the areas of infrastructure investment and funds management throughout Asia. In particular, Nick lead the development of Macquarie's funds business in Korea, which saw Macquarie's investment in over 20 substantial infrastructure projects with an enterprise value in excess of US$10 billion. Nick’s present responsibilities include the development and management of the Macquarie Capital Funds business across Asia and the Middle East, where Macquarie has some US$5 billion of infrastructure funds under management. He also oversees the development of a variety of new infrastructure and private equity fund initiatives planned throughout Asia, particularly in India, China and the Middle East.

Nicolas Vix runs Calyon’s business in Asia in the sectors of natural resources, infrastructure and power. He is based in Hong Kong and heads a team of professionals based in Hong Kong, Singapore, Mumbai and Tokyo. The team offers advisory, arranging, lending and other financial services for new projects and existing producers, expansions, acquisitions, and restructurings. Calyon is one of the leaders in this market, both globally and in Asia, having earned several “bank of the year” or “best project finance bank” awards as well as numerous deal awards. Nicolas Vix has been in his current position since 2004. Before that, he has held various posts with Calyon in Paris, Singapore, China and Hong Kong, starting his career with the bank in Beijing in 1988.
