100% dedicated to Middle Eastern hedge fund investing
Wealth generation in the Middle East
This year alone it is estimaged half a trillion dollars will be placed in OPEC coffers - more than at any time since the oil boom of the 1970s and 1980s. Where is that money going? How is it affecting the global economy? The last oil boom, from 1973 to 1985, had dire consequences in the creation of a lethal mix of inflation and slow growth worldwide. This time though the impact of money-flows from the Middle East does not appear quite so toxic.
Big Arab investors - investments and liquidity
Middle East money is definitely venturing abroad. It is going into large private equity deals and hedge funds and these investors are actively seeking out these opportunities. Bankers in the Middle East, however, say both governments and family companies controlled by Gulf billionaires are becoming more adventurous. “Big Arab investors”, while still predominantly invested locally, are increasingly on the hunt for equity stakes in overseas companies, real estate deals and into hedge funds.
The convergence of private equity and hedge fund investing
The challenge to the global hedge fund business is how to tap into this market and create a portfolio of investments for big Arab investors that are including hedge funds now and in the future. How can fund managers take advantage of private equity deals and structure hedge fund products that incorporate the benefits of “real assets” and “private equity”. Has the time come for hedge funds to converge with private equity?
If the Middle East is not an integral part of your geographical portfolio or marketing efforts, it ought to be!
