The facts – past and present
Hedge Funds World Middle East is the meeting point for regional investors and the best global investment strategists and managers. An unprecedented 43% of all attendees at Hedge Funds World Middle East 2007 were institutional investors. Having attracted over 650 attendees in 2007, Hedge Funds World Middle East is set to continue its growth as one of the largest regional hedge fund events on the calendar and we plan to welcome over 750 delegates in 2008.
New format, new speakers - a whole new experience in 2008
Hedge Funds World Middle East 2008 promises a festival of content and networking, where the region’s top investors come to hear the world’s top strategists and managers.
 This year, Terrapinn is proud to present some of the world’s top economists, strategists, global macro traders and hedge fund managers, in a festival of content that will help investors plan their strategy for the year ahead. Top of the bill is our Guest Strategist Barton Biggs, drawing on decades of experience and extensive recent research, to guide us on “future investment opportunities in a violent and volatile world.” We are also fielding as a keynote speaker, Peter Clarke, CEO of Man Group plc, the world's largest listed hedge fund provider and one of the most prominent in the emerging "superleague" of hedge fund players. Peter will provide a global perspective on themes and trends shaping the sector and the businesses  which operate within it. Another highlight will be Dr Sushil Wadhwani CBE, who worked at Tudor and Goldman Sachs, and was a member of the Bank of England’s Monetary Policy Committee, before founding Wadhwani Asset Management. Other top strategists, discussing where the “smart money” should go in 2008, include Richard Davidson of Lansdowne Partners, Ann Thivierge of Morgan Stanley and Steven Bell, who runs the global macro programme at London-based GLC. Hedge Funds World Middle East has consolidated its position as the region’s leading investor conference, and in 2008 is better than ever!

The conference has grown in stature, quality and reputation for 2007. The Madinat Jumeirah Hotel exceeded expectations as our new venue to cope with the growth of this world class conference for 2007.

Hedge Funds World Middle East will herald a new concept in hedge fund conferences. The purpose is unchanged - to meet the serious needs of serious investors - but the look and feel of the event will be refreshing and different.
We bring you a festival environment, designed to deliver an experience which is fun, dynamic and uplifting. Delegates are promised a red carpet experience, where the stars of the hedge fund industry share their inspiration and insights, successes and failures.

 The first Hedge Funds World Middle East awards, took place on March 6th at a glittering gala dinner at the Jumeirah Beach Hotel to recognise and celebrate the leaders, innovators and pioneers in the Middle East’s hedge funds industry.
The awards identify and reward those companies and individuals who have demonstrated an unparalleled ability to succeed, continually set standards of excellence, and who will be the future stars of the industry. The quality of the finalists in the running for the awards highlighted the strength of the local market and the high class managers and service providers available to investors in the Middle East.
Aside from the awards presentation the 300 guests were treated to a fascinating speaker in John Simpson, the BBC World Affairs Editor, who gave his observations and insights into the Middle East and the opportunities and challenges the region faces.
