All of you have made Hedge Funds World Asia what it has now become – THE industry event for Hedge Funds in Asia Pacific. A BIG thank you to those special individuals that have given their invaluable time, support and ideas over the past ten years. We couldn’t have done it without YOU.
Hedge Funds World Asia 2007 was a roaring success bringing together 700 academics, investors, hedge fund managers, fund of hedge funds and product specialists from over 35 countries.
Delegates were given the opportunity to design their own agenda by attending sessions or streams from three fantastic events: Hedge Funds World Asia, Hedge Funds World India and Portable Alpha Asia- all in one week, under one roof!
The Hedge Funds World Asia 2007 conference was chaired by Hans-Willem van Tyull, Independent Advisor, Switzerland on Day 1. Two streams ran concurrently on the 2nd day and were chaired by Joel Katzman, Private Investor and Consultant, USA and Kate Colchester, Director, Eurekahedge, Singapore. Portable Alpha Asia 2007 was chaired by Angelo Calvello, Executive Vice President of Man Investments, USA and Hedge Funds World India 2007 was chaired by Seth Freeman, CEO of EM Capital Management, USA.

- An exclusive keynote interview with Stefano Russo who shared his views on top trends shaping the global hedge fund industry
- Professor Jay Muthuswamy discussed dynamic trading strategies that will significantly enhance one’s portfolio returns
- Leading Asian institutional investors gathered together to debate about whether hedge fund fees were too high
- Some of the misconceptions of the hedge fund industry were revealed in a panel discussion with mainstream press representatives
- Giovanni Beliossi led a debate on whether investors can replicate the returns of the hedge funds
- Where are the opportunities in Asia over the next 12 months? Frontier markets? China? Emerging markets?
- Ted Lee discussed some of the key trends witnessed over the past 10 years
- Steve Cochrane, Robert Walton and Erik Valtonen delivered investor case studies on seeking alpha returns, manager selection and turning concept into reality
- Rakesh Jhunjhunwala gave his insights on examining the growth of the global investors’ appetite for Indian focused funds
Hedge Funds World Asia promised YOU ‘Out of the Box’ surprises . . .
 The 10th annual Hedge Funds World Asia conference kick started with a traditional Chinese Lion Dance. The lion is a symbol of power, wisdom, and good fortune; bringing happiness, longevity, and good luck to all of our delegates, speakers and sponsors. We were delighted to invite our guest of honor, Kevin Birkett, Director of Dubai International Finance Centre to dot the “lion’s eye" or to awaken the spirit of the lion. We were delighted to have Hans-Willem van Tuyll, Chairman of Day One, to cut the fabulous Tiger Cake to mark the 10th Anniversary of Hedge Funds World Asia event.
What does it take to follow your dreams? This was the very question we asked Perveen Crawford, Hong Kong’s first astronaut as she prepares for the Virgin Galactic Voyage in 2009. This was an excellent motivational session for new emerging managers starting their own hedge fund business.

Mix, mingle and network!
 Terrapinn squeezed in many networking opportunities for all participants. We hosted two Speed Networking sessions – one on both days. The quickest way to collect over 100 business cards in 20minutes! Delegates enjoyed an evening of delectable food, fine wine and lively entertainment at Terrapinn’s cocktail party and Anniversary Dinner at the end of conference Day One. A perfect opportunity for a true industry gathering with industry peers. To wrap up the 10th annual Hedge Funds World Asia event, delegates partied the night away at Hong Kong’s hottest club, Dragon-I.
Next year?
Hedge Funds World Asia 2008 will be held on 10 – 12 September 2008 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. It will be a week of information gathering, networking activities, business meetings and lots of new topics and sessions. We've got lots planned -- a brand new advisory board, fantastic new agenda, a stellar line-up of speakers, new mini conferences and more!
