Wayne practices in the area of intellectual property with an emphasis on patent litigation. He has in excess of 28 years’ experience advising in relation to and conducting intellectual property litigation in Australia and other jurisdictions.

Wayne’s specific area of expertise is in the conduct of patent infringement and revocation proceedings and he has been involved in a number of Australia’s leading patent cases. Wayne’s involvement in those cases has often been as part of a global team in multi-jurisdictional proceedings. He is therefore particularly experienced in dealing with the unique issues which arise in global litigation of this kind.

Wayne has particular experience and expertise in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology sector. He led the team in the Australian patent proceedings which clarified the law relating to the patentability of methods of medical treatment and he was a member of the team in the case which established an important set of guiding principles in Australia for determining when an interlocutory injunction order can be granted in pharmaceutical patent infringement cases.

Assoc Prof Tom Faunce

Dr Thomas Faunce is an associate professor in both the College of Law and Medical School at the Australian National University. He is director of two large Australian Research Council grants investigating the impact of international trade agreements on Australian medicines policy and safety and cost-effectiveness regulation of nanomedicine in Australia. He was a keynote speaker at the European Generic Medicines Conference in Berlin in 2007.

Elizabeth Frost

Elizabeth Frost, a registered pharmacist since 1964, was a partner in two pharmacies in Wamberal for over 30 years. She is a Fellow of both the Pharmaceutical Society, and the Australian College of Pharmacy Practice.

Elected to the Pharmacy Board of NSW in 1996, she was the appointed President from 1998 until standing down in 2007. She was the first woman President in the 100 year history of the Board.

Currently Elizabeth is President of the Australian Pharmacy Council, the body representing the Pharmacy Boards of Australia and also Deputy Chairman of the Australian Pharmacy Examining Committee.
