Co-Founder & Managing Director,
Conference Bay Pte. Ltd.
After obtaining my Masters Degree in Financial Business, I started working in private equity in the Netherlands. I got the opportunity to work directly with the CEO and experienced first hand how to the real business world works. Apart from being responsible for the investments and developments in real estate I managed key operational and commercial processes within the various subsidiaries of the company. I learned to understand how small- and medium sized organizations work and how to do business with internal and external stakeholders in order to improve the company’s performance. In my last interim role as business development manager I learned how to work with different cultures and travelled regularly to Asia to manage the business development in this region. I saw from the board room as well as from the working floor various M&A deals and different companies and understand how to grow them.
At Conference Bay my main focus is on business development, finance and legal matters.

Mr. Andrew Cooper has a background in online retailing that spans the dot-com boom, the subsequent bust, and through to the current period of resurgence. In 1998 Andrew and his brother, Tim, founded HotShed, a hosted software service providing ecommerce systems to large retailers in Australia. Clients include Rebel Sport, The Perfume Connection and many others.
In 2001 an opportunity arose that thrust Andrew further into the middle of Australian online retailing scene. dStore had been the quintessential dot-com darling but after burning through over $30 million in cash within 18 months it fell on hard times. So Andrew, Tim and their small team purchased the business. Despite limited capital and resources and relying only on their drive and ingenuity dStore has been successfully turned around and is back near the top of the Australian online retailing tree.
Andrew is an entrepreneur with a varied business background. Along with his software and online retailing businesses he also owns video stores, car washes and property interests. In 1987 Andrew graduated from Queensland University of Technology with a Bachelor of Business. He is also on the board of Entrepreneurs Organisation in Brisbane, a worldwide membership based organisation with a charter to help fuel the entrepreneurial spirit within.
