New fluid technologies in improving fracture success and well economics

Objectives:
Fracturing treatments vary widely in scale, each requires the successful integration of many disciplines and technologies, regardless of reservoir types. At theheart of the complex treatment process is the fracturing fluids. In the past decade, oil companies, service companies and polymer manufacturers has made in-roads for major advances in fracturing fluid technologies including
high-performing polymers, simpler fluids, multifunctional additives and continuous mixing. These developments have had a significant impact on the industry.

This workshop is for engineers, specialists, research scientists, operational and technical personnel from operating and service companies working with fracturing fluids in stimulation operation to develop a deeper understanding of the complex nature of fracturing fluids and the recent advances in technologies. Workshop participants will engage in discussions and assessments of the following:

Agenda:
  • The basic principles of fracturing fluids – introductory overview, function, properties and types
  • Typical additives used in water-based fracturing fluids
  • Characterisation methods used for fracturing fluids
  • Rheology, fluids loss and conductivity
  • Recent innovations in fracturing fluid technologies for:
      - controlling fluid loss to increase fluid efficiency
      - enhancing facture conductivity
      - improving proppant transport
      - reducing formation damage
      - providing improved wellbore cleanup

Advances in technology have provided opportunities for improved well economics. Attend this workshop to gain new insights into the fundamentals and the technologies of fracturing fluids to achieve overall well costs reduction and optimal efficiency for your operations and projects.

Environmental management in drilling and completions

Objectives:
In the oil and gas business, environmental issues have been identified as a risk to be managed. By not giving proper consideration to possible environmental implications and issues, project and operations performance can be impacted. It can lead to increased costs for reclamation of damaged environment and delayed schedules; higher capital investments could be needed if a project has to be redesigned because of improper risk identification. Reputation with communities, NGOs and governments can be impaired if environmental issues are not addressed in projects and operations. Environmental performance thus affects reputation and reputation affects the ability to get
access to resources and reduces production performance levels. Good environmental management
therefore is one imperative aspect in the planning of drilling and completions projects.

This workshop is for exploration and production project owners and operators, particularly managers, engineers, advisors and consultants from the HSE department, drilling and completions division as well as technical and operational professionals involved in the planning and management of drilling and completions in an E&P project.

Agenda:
Workshop participants can expect to get filled in with new insights and gain a better understanding in the following key areas:

  • Identifying environmental impacts and challenges in oil and gas E&P business
  • Developing an internal environmental policy – establishing environmental objectives and targets
  • Implementing a viable Environmental Management System (EMS)
  • How does EMS affect the planning of drilling and completions in a project?
  • Drilling and completion fluids and waste management options, technologies and their implications.
  • Application of environmental best practices and cost efficient techniques.
If you would like to truly understand the application of environmental practices in drilling and completions and have started taking steps to ensure compliance and improve environmental performance of your projects, this workshop will be a value-add to your expertise and projects.
