Masterclass B: Investing in Broadband initiatives – boosting municipality innovation
1:30pm-5pm (afternoon tea at 3pm)
Objectives: This practical and interactive workshop will provide an understanding of the importance and benefits of municipality involvement in True Next Generation Open Access Government Broadband. It will explain the natural role of (local) government in infrastructure. Participants will learn how the role of the municipality is to invest in roads, railroads, ports, airports and communication infrastructure and to guarantee open access/non discriminatory access to both supplier and end user in this communication infrastructure.
Municipalities are the key factor to innovation in many directions, tangible and intangible. Through Best & Next practices of several International Network of e-Communities (INEC) members (presented by problem, challenges, solution), the social and economic benefits of municipality involvement will be emphasised.
