Masterclass A: BioStatistics — computer based statistics for biomedical and clinical research

This masterclass will address the key issues of data collection, processing, analysis and interpretation in relation to the life science industry. It is best suited for health care professionals in hospitals and specialist institutes, research scientists from biomedical research centres and research administrators/managers.

Masterclass B: Cold Chain Management Awareness - Packaging & Monitoring – a Hands on Experience

Cold chain transportation is facing increased scrutiny from regulators around the world. To maintain the appropriate temperatures for cold chain shipments in different climatic conditions, it is important for shippers to be equipped with the specialized knowledge and understanding to prepare temperature-controlled shipments.

This masterclass is tailored for professionals managing or directly involved in the handling of investigational drugs and vaccines, biotechnology products, biological products, biological specimens, sampling kits and temperature-controlled drug shipments.

Masterclass C: Virus and prion clearance of biopharmaceuticals

The risk of viral contamination is a feature common to all biopharmaceutical products derived from human or animal plasma and mammalian cell lines. Virus safety concepts have to guarantee the absence of endogeneous and adventitious viral contaminants in order to be introduced into the global markets. In this workshop, regulatory requirements and guidelines, virus inactivation, absorption and removal technologies, methods for detecting viral contaminants and virus clearance validation studies will be explored. Biopharmaceutical company staff and scientists working in areas of production, quality control and product development will find this a must-attend.

Masterclass D: Protecting your IP while outsourcing to Asia

The wave of foreign outsourcing is continuing to fuel the expansion of Asia’s biomedical industry. However, some Asian countries are not yet reaching their full potential, as fears over inadequate intellectual property (IP) laws are holding many international companies back. This workshop will address the current state of intellectual property (IP) law development in Asia countries, highlight case studies and strategies to adequately protect your IP while outsourcing R&D and manufacturing to Asia, and evaluate the implications of IP protections when planning for outsourcing strategies in Asia.

Masterclass E: Implementing a well planned RFID strategy across your global manufacturing operations

As pharmaceutical products make their way through the supply chain, from manufacturer to end consumer, issues on cost, implementation and maintenance challenges may seem overwhelming, but many manufacturers agree that the potential benefits—from product quality and integrity to patient safety—offer more than enough pull factors for manufacturers to meet these issues head on. This full day workshop will demonstrate how you can test, implement and roll out an effective RFID strategy for your operations in Asia.
