Pieter Elbers

Pieter Elbers, a KLM veteran for 15 years, with broad experience in (senior) Operational, Commercial and Network positions within the company. Pieter J.Th. Elbers was born in Schiedam (the Netherlands) in 1970.
After concluding his studies in Logistics Management at the Transport Academy (Vervoersacademie) in Venlo, Mr. Elbers completed national service with the Royal Navy.
Mr. Elbers joined KLM on November 1, 1992. In the period between 1992 and 1999 he occupied various positions related to operations and business economics. During this same period, he completed his studies in business economics at the Open University of Amsterdam.
From 1999 to 2004, he held various commercial general management posts in Italy, Greece and Japan. After that, from 2005, he returned to Amsterdam and held the position of Vice President Network Planning KLM.
Effective September 2006, Mr. Elbers was appointed Senior Vice President Network. In this capacity, he now reports directly to KLM’s CEO and carries responsibility for the logistics processes at Network Planning and Capacity Planning within KLM, also in relation to Network Partners.

Syed Mohammed Mehdi is the Director for Marketing and Promotion for Civil Aviation Affairs of the Kingdom of Bahrain. Mohammed has gained over 15 years of experience in the field of aviation having worked for British Airways, SH&E and Jacobs Consultancy.
Mohammed started his career in airfield operations at Manchester Airport, UK and moved on to work for major consultancies on strategy projects.
Mohammed specialises in aviation marketing, market analysis and business planning. He has in the past prepared aviation marketing and business plans for various airlines and airports worldwide and has successfully implemented them. Some of his work included projects at London Stansted, Rome, Warsaw, Leeds Bradford, Phnom Pehn & Siem Reap and Hyderabad airports and Jet2.com, Kuwait Airways, Olympic Airlines etc.
Mohammed gained his Master’s degree in Airport Planning and Management from Loughborough University in the United Kingdom. Mohammed is also member of various professional bodies.

Kathleen joined AirAsia Bhd in August 2004. Despite being new to the airline industry and alien to low cost concept, Kathleen has single handedly mapped and put AirAsia footprints to China making AirAsia the first low cost carrier to operate in China. Today, under Kathleen commercial leadership, she has successfully steered and built an impressive China network with 150 weekly flights to Macau, Shenzhen, Haikou, Guangzhou, Guilin, Hangzhou and Hong Kong. As a Regional Head of Commercial, she plays a significant role to strategise and build a massive route network in Asean, Australia and a strong AirAsia brand over the last 4 years to become a global player and a key commercial driver to power the rapidfire expansion growth of AirAsia fleet of over 75 planes that span beyond 6 hubs and 4 airlines under her belt. Her current portfolio includes Revenue Management, Strategic & Route Planning, Marketing, Sales & Distribution, E-Commerce and Ancillary Services.
Prior to flying high with AirAsia, Kathleen brought with her a wealth of experience of brand and marketing management skills in the music and fashion industry. She worked 3 years as Regional Marketing Director with Warner Music Asia Pacific office based in Hong Kong and subsequently relocated to Singapore to head Warner Music Singapore office as Managing Director for 7 years. She spent a couple of years as Divisional Head of Marketing managing designer labels for SEAsian markets such as Gucci, Coach, Fendi, Lanvin, Guess for F.J.Benjamin, a public listed leading fashion company in Singapore.

Dr. Seock-Jin Hong
Executive Committee Member of Special Task Force on Aviation Development for City of Incheon
Incheon-Tiger Airways
Since March 2004, Seock-Jin Hong has been a Professor at the Graduate School of Logistics at the University of Incheon. Currently, he also serves as the executive committee member of Special Task Force on Aviation Development for City of Incheon overseeing the development of Incheon-Tiger Airways. Prior to joining University of Incheon, Prof. Hong was a Research associate at the air transport department of the Korea Transport Institute (KOTI) and an Assistant general manager in Korean Airlines Seoul from 1988. During his stay in Korean Airlines he acted as a key person on global alliance with Air France and Delta and preparation with opening the Incheon International Airport. And also, He has acted as a Researcher of ITA (Institute of Air Transport – Institut du Transport Aérien) in Paris, France. Prof. Hong has a Ph.D. from the University of Toulouse 1 of France in addition to a Master of Transport Economics from Ecole National des Ponts et Chausées in Paris, France.
