Bulk material handling: In-pit crushing and conveying (IPCC)
In the current climate of high oil prices and global mining boom, the use of large trucks for haulage is increasingly expensive and inept. Along with the rising cost of labour and emerging environmental issues, the bulk material handling of the mining industry is heeded for significant transformations.
This masterclass will explore the ‘new generation’ of semimobile in-pit crushing and conveying systems and the potential impact on cost reduction. It will look at the key drivers for and against in-pit crushing and explore the factors that will affect its success. The class will also include an evaluation of the results of a study undertaken by Sandvik for a real but “typical” in-pit system versus the truck/shovel alternative.

Masterclass Leaders:

Phil Morriss, Vice President of Mining Technical services ,
Sandvik Mining and Construction
