Robbie Robertson
President Emeritus
Professional Fire Fighters of Georgia, USA
International Trustee Address

Robert is a Retired Captain from DeKalb County Fire-Rescue Services with twenty-eight years of service. He served two terms as an employee elected trustee and served as the Vice-Chairman of the DeKalb County Pension Board from 2000 to 2004. He was one of two employee elected trustees that represented 6500 employees. He was elected to a four year term January, 2008 as the trustee representing retirees and currently serves as Vice-Chairman.

He served as President of the Professional Fire Fighters of Georgia, which is the state organization of the International Association of Fire Fighters and as the field service representative for the same IAFF for eight years. In this capacity, He advised and held educational events for all the fire fighter locals across the state. And he was granted the status of President Emeritus for my many years of dedicated service to the fire fighters across the state.
 
He also serves as Secretary Treasurer Emeritus of the DeKalb Professional Fire Fighters IAFF Local # 1492 and he is the sole advisor on all pension matters. He served in the position of Secretary Treasurer for 12 years.
 
He also served as Secretary Treasurer of the Metro Atlanta Professional Fire Fighters Council, which is a more localized organization to serve the locals in the Metro Atlanta area.  In this capacity he serves as an advisor on pension matters due to his experience and longevity with pensions. He served in this position for 12 years.

David Brown

David joined VFMC in December 2006 after 7 years at QIC in Brisbane where he was a Senior Portfolio Manager within the Strategy Division.
While at QIC, David developed the platform which is now being used as a key component of QIC's alpha-beta separation and developed their approach to implementing global private equity and infrastructure programs.  Prior to this, David spent a decade in the UK where he was an Investment Manager with Standard Life Investments, one of the largest institutional investors in Europe.  Previously David was at Euromoney plc in London and IPAC in Sydney.  He has a Master of Science in Investment Analysis from the University of Stirling in Scotland, and a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Auckland and is an Associate of the CFA Society of the UK.

Mark Delaney

Mark Delaney is the Deputy Chief Executive and Chief Investment Officer for AustralianSuper (the merger of ARF and STA on 30 June 2006).  Prior to that he was Chief Executive of STA from May 2003.  During that time he oversaw continued strong investment performance, the development and growth of STA Corporate.

Mark joined STA as Investments Manager in 2000 and prior to that had an extensive career in funds management.  Mark is a Director of Industry Superannuation Property Trust (ISPT) and is a Chartered Fund Analyst.

AustralianSuper is the largest industry fund with over $30 billion in assets, 1.3 members and 102,000 contributing employers.  It invests in a wide range of asset classes with significant exposure to both direct and unlisted investments.

Dennis Sams

Dennis Sams is the Head of Public Markets at UniSuper Management Pty Ltd, the superannuation fund for the tertiary education sector in Australia with assets of approximately $24 billion.  Dennis is responsible for managing the public (listed security) markets portfolio, leading and coordinating the public markets investment manager research function and supervising incumbent fund managers across a diverse range of public market asset classes, both domestic and international.

Previously, Dennis was Director, Investment Consulting and Director of Investment Research for Russell Investment Group in Australia.  In these roles, his principal focus was the development of effective investment strategies for clients, advising on risk management and the establishment of appropriate and effective investment practices.  As head of research, Dennis was also responsible for directing the research program for the firm as well as undertaking capital markets research.

Dennis’ industry experience includes economic research with the Impact Research Centre, as well as senior positions in the Victorian Department of Management and Budget, and the Victorian Department of Treasury.  From 1994 to 2000, Dennis was an asset consultant with Towers Perrin.  From 2000 to 2003, Dennis was Head of Investment Research at InTech.

Nicole has over 9 years of superannuation and investment experience having worked for AMP Capital Investors and Telstra Super.

Nicole’s current role includes portfolio construction and manager selection relating to the Alternative Assets program which represents approximately 15% of the fund’s assets.

Dragana Timotijevic

Dragana joined Mercer Investment Consulting in October 2004 as Principal, Alternatives Research Manager. She is primarily responsible for alternatives research and development and also provides some retail consulting advice.

Dragana was previously Head of Manager Research at vanEyk Research for 5 years. Before joining vanEyk in 1999, she spent 11 years with State Super Investment Management Corporation, Axiom Funds Management and Deutsche Bank Asset Management as an economist and asset allocation analyst.

She holds a Bachelor of Economics and Masters in Statistical Economic Analysis from University of Belgrade and a Graduate Diploma in Applied Finance and Investment from the Securities Institute of Australia. Dragana also qualified as a CFA in 1998.

Tim Hughes

Duran oversees HRJ Capital’s global buy-out and special opportunities funds and has been an active private equity fund investor since 1997. Prior to joining HRJ Capital, Duran was Managing Director and Head of the U.S. office of LGT Capital Partners, one of the largest European based private equity and hedge fund of funds managers with over USD 8 billion of discretionary capital under management. Before founding LGT’s U.S. office, Duran was based in LGT’s main office in Zurich, Switzerland. While at LGT, Duran was responsible for over USD 1 billion of private equity fund commitments in buy-out, venture capital and special situations funds. Duran was also deeply involved LGT’s co-investment activities in connection with a USD 50 million dedicated co-investment pool for direct investing alongside LGT’s buy-out fund managers. While at LGT, Duran was a member of a number of fund advisory boards, including Sun Capital, Wellspring Capital and TPG. Prior to joining LGT Capital Partners, Duran spent nearly five years with Pacific Corporate Group, where he was responsible for the evaluation, due diligence, negotiation and monitoring of private equity fund investments on behalf of major institutional investors such as CalPERS, the State of Oregon and the State of Washington. Duran was also actively involved in PCG’s co-investment activities, discretionary separate account relationships and Fund of Funds activities. He began his career at Schroder & Co. in Los Angeles. Duran received his MBA from the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University and B.S. in Finance from Bowling Green State University in Ohio. He is a CFA Charterholder and a member of the CFA Institute.

John Livanas

John has over 20 years investments and financial services experience gained in financial services and multinational corporations in Australia and internationally.

John was previously Director of Investments for SEBO, a $3bn South African Superannuation and Pension Fund, and Principal Consultant in Financial Services at Deloitte Haskins and Sell.

John has also had extensive corporate management experience, having held senior executive positions at Kimberly Clark, O’Brien Glass, Rothmans and Unified Telecom. He has held several board positions in industries including: publishing and printing; motoring; stock broking; financial services, and an airline.

John holds an M.B.A, a Bachelor of Science (Engineering), and a Post Graduate Diploma in Finance and Investments.  He is currently a PhD candidate at UNSW investigating “Behavioural Finance implications in Investing, and Superannuation Risk Management” at the School of Actuarial Studies at the University of New South Wales.

John is member of ASFA, a Fellow of Finsia, and a member of the Funds Executives Association of Australia (FEAL), and is a regular industry presenter on Financial Services and Investments topics. He also sits on the Alternative Investment Management Association (AIMA) Education committee. John has also published several papers including: ‘Are investors rational? And does it matter?’ and ‘Behavioural Finance implications in portfolio construction’

During Glenn’s career he has provided asset consulting advice to a wide range of clients both in the public and private sector. He therefore has extensive experience in working with clients in identifying their investment needs and developing investment solutions that meet these needs. He also has been involved in the review and analysis of investment managers in the Australian market for over 20 years.

During the three years that Glenn worked with ING Investment Management he was involved in the analysis of ING’s investment processes and communicating these processes to clients. He was also involved in developing and running a Socially Responsible investment vehicle. During this period, Glenn was also involved in the expansion of the ING Investment Management  Implemented Investment products into the wholesale investment market.

Peter is the Chief Executive Officer and founder of Greenway Capital Limited. Peter started his business career as an engineer and has worked in the marine contracting field in Asia, USA, United Kingdom, Norway and South America. He returned to Australia in 1984 and undertook a variety of roles including investment banking, a director and major shareholder of a start-up engineering company and his own ‘workout’ consultancy. 
Peter was the founder and CEO of Rothschild Australia Capital Investors the private equity arm of N M Rothschild (Australia) Ltd in 1990. He became CEO of Rothschild Australia Asset Management Ltd in 1994 and over a seven year period, successfully restructured the organisation into a highly regarded retail and institutional player in the Australian funds management industry. Peter was instrumental in selling the business to Westpac in June 2002.
Peter holds a Master of Business Administration from Harvard Business School and a Bachelor of Civil Engineering. He now lives in Sydney with his wife and four children. His interests include physical fitness, sport, the arts, farming and travel.
