Tore Hayward

Before joining the Fund in January 2006, Tore Hayward was chief investment officer for AMP Capital Investors. He previously headed the foreign reserves management team at the Reserve Bank of New Zealand. Before that he led the wholesale investment management operations at ANZ Asset Management. Tore has a BSc from the University of Otago and a BA (Hons) from Victoria University.

Leo has overall responsibility for the investment strategy and asset allocation of AMP Capital’s diversified funds. Leo also contributes to strategy and decision-making in the NZ Fixed team, where he worked as strategist until being appointed to his current role. Prior to joining AMP Capital Investors, Leo worked at the Reserve Bank of New Zealand for six years, most recently as a senior portfolio manager in the Foreign Reserves section. He has worked as a fixed interest analyst/portfolio manager at AXA Funds Management New Zealand (now Alliance Capital Management), and started his career as an economic forecaster at the New Zealand Treasury.

Bob Walton got his undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of Texas at Austin, and spent a decade teaching at the Graduate School for Information Management at the University of Texas at Austin. In 1990, Bob became President and CEO of CLSI, Inc., a higher education related software firm in Cambridge, MA, concluding in the successful sale of the company on the Toronto stock exchange. In 1992, Bob moved to California where he took over as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial & Operating Officer for Innovative Interfaces, Inc., an international library & information management software firm, expanding its base of operations to 33 countries during the 90’s.
Bob moved from Innovative in 1998 to Ohio where he took the position of Vice President for Finance and Business at The College of Wooster. After 8 years as CFO at Wooster, Walton recently assumed the position of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Claremont University Consortium. Claremont University Consortium (CUC) is the central coordinating and support organization for a highly regarded cluster of seven independent colleges known as The Claremont Colleges located in Southern California and includes Pomona College, founded in 1887; Claremont Graduate University, 1925; Scripps College, 1926: Claremont McKenna College, 1946; Harvey Mudd College, 1955; Pitzer College, 1963; and the Keck Graduate Institute for Applied Life Sciences, 1997. The Claremont Colleges have endowments valued at $2B under management. Bob also serves on the boards of the Seaman Corporation, an industrial fabrics manufacturer and as Chairman of iPost Corporation, an internet-focused high technology company based in San Francisco, CA.

Richard Palmer

Richard joined NZVIF in 2006 as Investment Director - Seed Co-Investment Fund and is responsible for the NZ$40 million Seed Co-Investment Fund that invests into early stage businesses. He is also a member of NZVIF Investment Committees. He has 18 years experience in private equity, strategy and M&A roles both in New Zealand and offshore. Prior to his current role he worked for Tower Limited, where he was involved in the listing of Australian Wealth Management on the ASX, at AMP in senior strategy and corporate finance roles and was a founding principal at Orange Ventures, the US$225 million corporate venturing arm of Orange SA. During his career he has worked on many significant M&A and private equity transactions having completed in excess of 30 deals in his career. Richard is co founder of a privately owned NZ company Triplejump that provides life insurance advisory service throughout New Zealand. In addition to his professional career Richard has developed significant governance experience both reporting to Boards and serving on them directly. He is currently a Non Executive Director of the Mentum Group, Triplejump Limited and Mobile Mentor Limited.

Paul Duffy

Paul was appointed as the Chief Executive of the Dominion Group in March 2001. Paul has had 30 years experience in the property industry, both within New Zealand and internationally. He was previously general manager of Fletcher Property Limited and, prior to that, joint managing director with an offshore government property investment agency (Abu Dhabi Investment Authority), responsible for the formation of a large real estate portfolio in the United States and Europe. Paul is President of the Property Council of New Zealand and Chairman of Keystone, the NZ Property Education Trust.

Phillip Houghton-Brown

As well as head of the investment management team at ING, Philip is responsible for asset allocation, currency management and ING's multi-manager approach for international equities. Philip joined ING in 1996, with a background of 9 years’ experience in the investment industry. From 1991 to 1995, Philip worked at AMP Asset Management in London, where he was a fund manager in the firm’s international equities department. In this role, he shared responsibility for tactical asset allocation, programme trading and derivatives. Philip also spent four years with FPG Research, from 1987 to 1991, where he was responsible for investment manager research. Philip is a CFA charterholder and a Fellow of the Securities and Investment Institute in the UK. He has completed the UK Securities and Investment Institute, IMRO and NZ Society of Investment Analysts examinations.

Anthony Limbrick is Chairman and Chief Investment Officer of Pure Capital, a quantitative investment manager providing bespoke portfolio solutions for wholesale market participants with pervasive beta or gap risk issues. Pure Capital also has a range of Japan-only returns-based products.
Mr Limbrick has 18 years experience in the financial markets working for a variety of global financial organizations including Deutsche Bank (formerly Bain & Co.) and HSBC in Sydney, Calyon (formerly Credit Lyonnais) in Tokyo, and Bank of New Zealand in Wellington.
Mr Limbrick is a Director and member of the Investment Committee of 36 South Investment Managers Limited, a hedge fund management company that specializes in “tail risk” long volatility funds. He is also Chairman of the New Zealand Absolute Return Association (NZARA), the New Zealand organization representing the alternative investment management industry in New Zealand.
Mr Limbrick has a Master of Applied Finance degree from Sydney’s Macquarie University.

Peter Verhaart is responsible for overall investment activities of Arcus. He chairs the NZ Investment Strategy Committee and also sits on the AXA Australia Investment Management Committee and the ipac Australia Investment Management Committee. Peter has recently moved to Arcus having spent eight years with Mercer Investment Consulting where he was most recently Head of Investment Consulting and a member of the senior leadership team. Peter holds a Bachelor of Science degree in pure mathematics, a Post Graduate Diploma in financial mathematics and a Diploma of Financial Planning. Donal Curtin is Managing Director of Auckland based consultancy Economics New Zealand Ltd, and one of New Zealand’s best known business economists. Before setting up his own firm, which specialises in tactical asset allocation and portfolio design, Donal was chief economist for a major bank and also ran its national private banking and investment advisory service. He chairs the investment committee of Vestar, a national financial planning group. Donal is a member of the Commerce Commission, chair of boutique fund manager Mint Asset Management, and chair of the Public Trust. He is the Finance and Expenditure Select Committee’s adviser on monetary policy, and a member of the Advisory Committee on Economic Statistics. He was ‘Print Columnist of the Year’ in the Westpac Business and Financial Journalism Awards in 2006 for his monthly column in Unlimited, the national business magazine.

Ainsley has worked in financial markets since completing her Bachelor of Commerce degree in Economics at the University of Auckland. Her experience includes roles in share broking, bond trading, fixed interest portfolio management, client advising, money markets and foreign exchange.
Since May 2005, Ainsley has been Head of Investment Management for ASB Group Investments, where she is responsible for all investment management decisions, investment performance of portfolios, management of a team of investment professionals and key input to investment strategy decisions.
Between 1993 and 2005, Ainsley held a number of client-facing roles in the ASB treasury dealing room, culminating in her appointment as Head of Sales and Service for ASB Treasury & Financial Markets.
