The Asset Allocation Summit examines asset allocation from both a strategic (liability-driven) and a tactical (TAA) viewpoint. Now in its sixth year, the event attracts around 300 delegates, mainly institutional investors, including asset allocators, strategists, pension scheme managers, charities, insurers, investment consultants, private banks and hedge funds.
This year’s event covers “investment strategies and techniques” on day one and “investment markets and outlook” on day two. Delegates can book each day independently - although both days promise to be fascinating - with a world-class speaker faculty including some of Europe’s most influential investment consultants, inspirational global strategists, leading pension schemes and award-winning fund managers.

DAY ONE: INVESTMENT STRUCTURES AND TECHNIQUES
The last five years have witnessed a radical re-appraisal of how global investment portfolios should be structured. Equity weightings have been reduced in favour of fixed income and alternatives, and fund sponsors are moving towards separating the alpha- and beta-producing parts of their portfolios, with persistent alpha and cost-effective beta being the Holy Grail. Day one of this year’s Asset Allocation Summit examines these recent developments, showcasing the techniques being used in the searc for alphah, the capture of beta and the control of risk. The day begins with an opportunity for institutional investors to consider their approach to environmental, social and governance issues. In all, a varied and content-rich agenda, led by some of Europe’s top pension funds, fund managers and consultants.

DAY TWO: INVESTMENT MARKETS AND OUTLOOK
The last 12 months have seen huge contrast between the returns from equities, bonds, commodities and property, with volatility levels exceeding the highest peaks for many years. Will the recent trends continue, or are we at a turning point in investment markets? To answer these questions, IRC has selected some of the world’s most respected investment strategists, including thought-leaders from Morgan Stanley, Credit Suisse, Goldman Sachs, State Street and Deutsche Bank, each one of them amongst the world’s best in their particular area of specialism. Each day of the Asset Allocation Summit can be booked separately, so if your focus is purely investment strategy, this is a day not to be missed.

PRE-CONFERENCE WORKSHOP: FUUNDAMENTALS OF EXCHANGE-TRADED FUNDS
This workshop will enable investors to understand ETFs better and to assess how ETFs can best be used in the context of their own portfolio management. The workshop forms part of the Terrapinn conference, ETF and Indexing Investment Europe, which for the first time is being co-located in the same hotel as the Asset Allocation Summit. Although each event will have its own conference agenda, the two conferences will benefit from a shared exhibition/hospitality area, where delegates from both events will have the opportunity to network, share ideas and do business.
