Jacques-François Martin
President
Parteurop, France

Jacques-François Martin has spent a lifetime in the pharmaceutical, biological and life sciences industries.

From 1970 to 1976, he was the Chief Executive Officer of Rhône-Poulenc Pharma in Hamburg, Germany. Martin then returned to France to join the Institut Mérieux as Vice President of Sales and Marketing, where he largely contributed to the international expansion of Mérieux. He was named the company’s Chief Executive Officer in 1988, and successfully negotiated with the Government of Canada the acquisition of Connaught Laboratories.

In 1991, Martin set up Parteurop S.A.S., a biotech consulting company based in Lyon, France. Among other activities, Martin has been a consultant to Chiron from November 1991 to March 2000. But Parteurop helps as well establish start-up companies by leveraging innovation from French and foreign institutions.

From 1996 to 1998, Martin was the Chief Executive Officer of the Fondation Jean Dausset – Centre d’Etudes du Polymorphisme Humain, a private foundation dedicated to genomics research.

From September 1996 to September 1999, he was a member of the Board of INSERM (Institut National de la Santé et de la Recherche Médicale, the French National Institute of Health).

From 1994 to 1997, Martin served as the Chairman of the Biologicals Committee of the International Federation of Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Associations. As such, he was a member of the Scientific Advisory Group of Experts of WHO (SAGE).

From November 1997 to June 2003 he was a member of the Board of the International AIDS Vaccine Initiative (IAVI).

From 2000 to January 2005, Martin was the first President and CEO of The Vaccine Fund. He lead the Fund’s efforts to provide lifesaving vaccines and other immunization program support to low-income countries. In this capacity, he was also a member of the Board of GAVI (Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization).

He is member of the Board of several life sciences companies, including Pelias Ag, a new company launched with Intercell and Chiron to develop vaccines against nosocomial diseases.

Martin is a member of the French Academy of Technologies. He is an officer in the French Order of Merit.  

Suresh Jadhav

Dr.Jadhav joined Serum Institute of India Ltd., Pune in 1979, and is its Executive Director since 1992. Dr.Jadhav being most instrumental in the development and adoption of latest QC techniques, and taking the Institute at high standards at par with Western world, played a vital role in securing accreditation for Serum Institute from World Health Organization. Today, Serum Institute is the largest vaccine manufacturer in the world and was recently awarded the Global Corporate Philanthropy Award by Albert B. Sabin Vaccine Institute, U.S.A.
 
With over 10 years of persistent efforts and severe follow-up with WHO, he helped bringing Serum Institute on the global map, supplies to U.N.Agencies fulfiling requirement of over 140 countries besides the Expanded Programme of Immunization of the Government of India.
 
Dr.Jadhav’s 35 years technical expertise covers vast areas including QC/QA/cGMP/GLP/GCP techniques, standardization of biochemical methods, handling sophisticated instruments, SOPs, master formulae, inspections of laboratories and validation of various production and quality control processes, pharmacological and toxicological screening of various drugs, toxins and venoms etc.

Jean-denis Shu

Formerly the Regional Director of Far East & North Pacific for Chiron Vaccines, Dr. Shu is widely recognized as a vaccine expert in China. He has got extensive experiences in business start-ups and general management in vaccine industry, proven track-record in medical and marketing management in France and China, and strong resources and network. His ten-year career in vaccine field also includes General Delegate China for Aventis Pasteur, based in Beijing, China, and Medical and Regulatory Affairs Manager for Pasteur Merieux Connaught, based in Lyon, France. Dr. Shu was the author of several articles and books in vaccines.


A French citizen born in Shanghai, Dr. Shu is bi-cultural and tri-lingual (English, French and Chinese). He earned a Certificate of Finance and Accounting from Wharton School, a MBA from the European School of Management (ESCP-EAP) in Paris, a Diploma of Specialization on Gynecology-Obstetrics from Medical and Pharmacy College of Besancon in France, and a Medical Degree, B. Med. from Medical University of Shanghai II, in China. Dr Shu had spent five years as Foreign Physician in French hospitals, before having joined vaccine industry.
