Concept
Why an SRI conference?
With increasing oil prices; depleting natural resources such as our forests, fossil fuels and the oceans fish stocks, combined with the the increasing need for clean energies have all combined to create the demand by companies and investors to look for sustainable and environmentally friendly investments.
However Green Investments do not necessarily mean lower returns and in many cases the performances of Green Investments or Sustainable Responsible Investments (SRI) have outperformed those of traditional asset classes.
The growth in the number of SRI funds across the world and in particular Asia is a direct response for investors and company’s attempting to adopt investments and strategies which benefit our global environment. Globally there is an increased awareness and a heightened demand for SRI products which in turn has resulted in a push for resources that can help drive SRI developments in capital markets around the world.
A health check of the managed funds industry in Asia underscores a range of challenges which needs to be addressed for the creation of a healthy SRI industry. Hence a dedicated conference which addresses the key trends in SRI, the recent advances and how investors and managers alike can benefit from launching and investing in these products is both timely and essential.
SRI Asia 2007 will address the SRI issues specific to the Asian equities market and be of particular interest to asset and fund managers, institutional investors, trustees, governments and other related financial industry’s and service providers alike.
