Mr. Denny joined Inmarsat Global Limited and its intergovernmental predecessor in 1988, to head the establishment and operation of the Satellite Control Centre, in association with the Inmarsat-2 Programme. In the ensuing years, Mr. Denny held a number of positions across the technical and operational functions of the business and, from 1998, has held the position of Vice President of Satellite and Network Operations. In this role, Mr. Denny is responsible for Inmarsat’s fleet of satellites, network operations and engineering activities, satellite gateways, spectrum regulatory and spectrum management activities and satellite navigation services.
Prior to joining Inmarsat, in the period from 1984 to 1988, Mr. Denny worked with AUSSAT Pty Limited (now OPTUS) in Australia, in the establishment of the company’s satellite control facilities and subsequent operations of their first generation satellites. Between 1975 and 1984, he held various positions in the satellite control and satellite communications field with the Overseas Telecommunications Commission, an Australian international communications carrier. These roles primarily involved satellite launch and in-orbit support activities for Intelsat and the European Space Agency.

Mr Garth Freeman, Chief Executive Officer, Buzz Broadband
Garth Freeman has a long and distinguished career in regional Australian telecommunications.
As technical director and co-founder of Australia’s only independent hybrid fiber/coaxial network in the mid 1990’s, Neighborhood Cable, Garth steered the company from an entertainment to telecommunications infrastructure play in 1999, being the first company to deploy broadband over cable using the DOCSIS standard in the remote city of Mildura, Victoria. Helping to create the term regional broadband, Neighborhood Cable deployed Voice over IP in 2000, to 265 handsets in 12 offices across 4 towns for one client, all over its own infrastructure. At the time, it was Cisco Systems largest wide area network deployment of Voice over IP, worldwide and cut the telecommunications spend of the client by over 60%.

Mr David Hartshorn, Secretary General, Global VSAT Forum
David Hartshorn is Secretary General of the GVF, the London-based non-profit international association of the satellite industry. GVF consists of more than 170 member organisations from every major region of the world and from every sector of the industry, including mobile and fixed satellite operators, manufacturers, system integrators, and other service providers.
Supported by 15 affiliate offices, two regional offices and seven working groups, Mr. Hartshorn leads the Forum’s global efforts to facilitate the provision of satellite-based communications solutions throughout all nations of the world.
Mr. Hartshorn works closely to support national-, regional- and global-level policy makers as they formulate state-of-the-art satellite regulatory frameworks. He is also responsible for creating greater awareness of the commercial, economic, political and technological advantages that satellite-based communications provide. GVF’s education and training programme is an important means by which these aims are achieved.

Mr Bob Murray, Senior Consultant to Telecom Fiji, Telecom Fiji
Bob is a well-known identity throughout the satellite communications industry with some 30 years experience. His breadth of technical, market knowledge and experience extends across a broad spectrum of communications technologies and services including satellite, cable and radio communications.
He has also worked on a new design for the provision of satellite voice and Internet services to the remote areas and islands of Fiji. A challenging project as it encompassed implementation of a new VSAT network with remote sites in locations where mains power is non existent and hence required solar energy.

Mr Terry Percival, Managing Laboratory Director, National ICT Australia Ltd
Terry spent the first ten years of his career building microwave receiving systems for radio-telescopes. He joined OTC in 1987 and spent four years working on new satellite systems for thin-route VSATs. He then joined CSIRO and developed and patented new technology for high speed wireless LANs which now forms the basis of 802.11a &g systems. After this he worked on applications for advanced networks such as tele-health and distance education. He is currently Managing Laboratory Director at NICTA.

Ms Linda Sheahan, Telephone Coordination - Information Management Division, ICT Command, Queensland Police Service
Linda has been in the Queensland Police Service for the past seven years where she manages all voice telecommunications. Linda’s responsibilities have covered strategic, tactical and operational network and services planning, direction of program and project implementations and network management. With the emphasis always on maintenance of community connectivity with the Police Service over 500 Plus location, she has a wealth of experience in maintaining operations critical /client facing telecommunications. Satellite communications are a key part of the Queensland Police Service operational networks and Linda has introduced a range of satellite services to enable first responder and dispatch coverage for most operational contingencies.

Mr Paul Sheridan, Head of Satellite, Singtel Optus
Paul has been with Optus since 1994 and has over 25 years experience in the Satellite industry.
Since November 2005 he has had the role of Head of Satellite. Paul is responsible for major broadcast and satellite accounts across Asia Pacific.
Since joining Optus, Paul has held a number of Strategic Account and Business Development roles within the group.
In his role as General Manager Satellite Sales, Paul drove the Sales team in attaining the highest ever Customer Satisfaction Survey that has ever been achieved within Optus.

Mr Elias Zaccack, Vice President, SES NewSkies
Elias Zaccack is Vice President of SES NEW SKIES, based in Hong Kong. He has been with SES for seven years, and is responsible for sales of satellite services, as well as business and service development activities in Asia-Pacific. Prior to joining SES NEW SKIES, he held various positions within the SES group of companies, including: Vice-President, Strategic Sales and Business Development for SES Asia, based in Hong Kong; Vice-President of international sales for SES-Americom, based in Princeton, New Jersey, USA; and Managing Director for Americom Asia-Pacific, based in Singapore
Prior to joining SES group of companies, he worked for eight years with Scientific-Atlanta, based primarily in Singapore. Prior to that, he was with GE for ten years, the last three with GE Astro Space (now Lockheed Martin) in Princeton, New Jersey, where he was International Marketing Manager for Commercial Satellites, managing activities in Europe, Middle East and Mexico.
He holds a Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering (1984) and an MBA in International Business (1990) from George Washington University in Washington, DC.
