Prior to joining Aberdeen, Alessandro was Head of European Research for the Catella Property Group. Before joining Catella he worked for Security Capital, a major American REIT, where he assisted in the investment decision-making process through research. Prior to taking up the position with Security Capital in 1998 he worked for Eurostat in Luxembourg and for the Ifo Institute for Economic Research in Munich. Alessandro holds a Masters Degree in Economics from the University of Munich and speaks four languages fluently.

Robert is Global Head of Property Markets at Reuters and is based in London. In 2006, Robert started www.reutersrealestate.com – a new initiative at Reuters to create a global information hub for real estate investment community. Robert joined Reuters in 1998 and worked in variety of roles including four years as Head of Corporate Foresight in Reuters Group Strategy. He holds a dual MBA degree from Columbia Business School in New York and London Business School. Robert is also an international master in chess.

Geoffrey Cox,

After a career of more than thirty years as an officer in the British Army, Geoffrey retired in Paris in 1983 where he became a lecturer at the Institute for the Study of Political Science (SciencePo) and the editor of the English edition of Defence and Armament International.

In January 1993 he moved to Moscow and soon became involved in the newly emerging property market there, joining Weatherall International. In 2001 when Weatherall became part of Atis Real, he co-founded Astera, a full service real estate company with offices in Moscow, Saint Petersburg and Kiev. An ONCOR International partner, Astera specialises in retail property and is leasing agent for many shopping centres throughout the Russian Federation. Recently Astera has teamed with NorthStar Corporate Finance, an associate company of HSH Nordbank Hamburg, and is now also involved with the development of industrial warehousing and more general investment in property in Russia and the Ukraine.

A founding member of the Association of European Businesses in the Russian Federation, Geoffrey has recently been appointed Chairman of its Honorary Council of International Advisors after serving on the executive board for 11 years, where he was the Deputy Chairman for the last seven years.

Bill worked with the Credit Suisse Group in Switzerland, Italy and the UK for 11 years, prior to which he worked for the State Bank of South Australia Group as a distressed debt specialist.

Peter Howard Sceats,

Peter Sceats is Director of Business Development at TFS, a major global OTC intermediary. In his career he has focused on founding new businesses and marketplaces. He is probably best known as the person responsible for starting the coal derivative market. To this day the Atlantic Basin coal industry uses the TFS API indices he launched as its basis and the derivative market he started is now five times the size of the underlying physical market on which it is based. In 2006 Peter took on the role of building TFS’s UK & European property business and is responsible for carving out TFS’s leadership role in the property derivative markets.

Iain is Chairman of the Property Derivatives Interest Group and CEO and CIO of Protego Real Estate Investors. Protego was founded in May 2004 and specialises in the creation and management of funds, direct and indirect property portfolios and synthetic instruments for all investor types. Iain is Chairman of the Investment Property Forum’s Property Investment Performance Committee and represents the IPF on the All Asset Class UK Investment Performance Committee.

In 2005, Protego won two Property Week awards – “Up and Coming Property Company of the Year” and “Innovation of the Year”, for its work in property derivatives.

During the 1990s, Iain devised the first exchange-traded property derivative in the UK, known as Property Index Certificates (PICs). Several issues have since taken place in collaboration with BZW / Barclays Capital with whom he also created and ran a market for two years in Property Index Forwards, an O.T.C. derivative.

In conjunction with Barclays Capital, Iain Reid and his team have executed in excess of £1 billion of property derivative transactions since the formation of Protego. Mr. Ryall joined BlackRock following the merger with Merrill Lynch Investment Managers (MLIM) in 2006. At MLIM, he was the fund manager of the European Property Fund of Funds. Prior to joining MLIM in 2006, he was a Director of European Research and Strategy at LaSalle Investment Management, where he worked for 9 years. Prior to this he had been the Chief Economist of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.

Mr. Ryall earned a Post Graduate Diploma in econometrics from Birkbeck College, University of London in 1997, he studied for his BSc in economics at the University of Southampton and the University of Milan in 1991, and his MA in the Economics of the European Community from the University of Exeter and University of Messina in 1992. Allan Saunderson is founder and Managing Editor of Property Finance Europe, a twice-monthly specialist report on mainland Europe investment real estate finance launched in April 2005. A Reuters financial journalist in London, Frankfurt and Paris during the 1980s, he was appointed by the late French Prime Minister Pierre Bérégovoy as adviser to the French finance ministry in 1991. Allan moved to Bank Julius Bär (Frankfurt) in the early 1990s as head of European research before founding an economic and monetary asset management consultancy, Eurozone Advisors, and becoming a well-known Bundesbank and then European Central Bank ‘watcher’. He moved into real estate finance in 2002 with easetec, a Frankfurt-based consultancy.

Prior to joining INREV, Lisette was responsible for all research and strategy activities of the ING Real Estate European Investment Management Organisation, based in The Hague. Her responsibilities covered corporate strategy, acquisitions & disposals and portfolio analysis for existing real estate funds, feasibility studies and investment strategies for new fund products, institutional investor advice on real estate investment issues, and presentations and publications. Ralph Winter has been involved in the German real estate market since 1985 when he founded and managed KVV GmbH a real estate corporation investing in German properties. In addition, he was the Managing Partner of SAB GmbH for five years, responsible for the selection of real estate investments and the raising of equity capital for investments worth €600 million. Mr Winter is chairman of the Asset Manager.
