Alfonso Baigorri Escandón focuses his practice on international tax and estate planning. He has handled such issues as deferral of taxation strategies, taxation of real estate transactions, foreign withholding tax, pre-immigration planning directed at diminishing the impact of U.S. and foreign taxes and business succession planning for international families. Alfonso has particular experience in assisting high-net-worth Latin American families. He also has experience with the challenging tax systems of Mexico and Venezuela. Prior to joining Buchanan, Alfonso was a partner with a Miami-based commercial law firm, where he performed inbound tax planning for high-net-worth individuals and corporations dealing with income, estate, gift and generation-skipping transfer tax issues in the United States, Latin America and Europe. He also developed offshore trust structures with tax and succession objectives.

Mr. Jorge Becerra, Partner, The Boston Consulting Group
Jorge Becerra joined The Boston Consulting Group in 1988 and was elected Director in 1995. He is currently Senior Vice President and the Managing Partner for BCG’s Miami, Santiago and Buenos Aires offices. He also leads BCG'S Organization and Change Management Practice in the region. Mr. Becerra has led several key assignments for industrial clients in North America, Europe and Latin America, developing an extensive professional practice in areas such as organization, business strategy, value management, commercial strategy and operational effectiveness. John Benevides is the president of Family Office Exchange (FOX). Drawing on his years of high net worth industry research and advisory expertise, Mr. Benevides has greatly expanded the role of research at FOX. Prior to joining the Board in February 1996, John spent nearly two years as the lead examiner of Fannie Mae. Formerly, Mr. Benevides worked for Allied Irish Banks, plc, in London, and spent two years in the residential mortgage division of First National Bank of Maryland. He holds an undergraduate degree in organizational psychology and economics from the University of Maryland, awarded in 1989. He studied business and international economics at the Boston University, London, and was the distinguished graduate in finance and economics at The Johns Hopkins University, where he received an MS in finance and his MBA (Summa Cum Laude) in 1995.

Seno has worked for BNP Paribas for the past 29 years occupying various posts in Amsterdam, Paris, Panama, Mexico City, London, Geneva and Miami.
Seno was appointed CEO of BNP Paribas in Miami in June 2000 and oversaw the grafting of a Broker Dealer structure to the site which added a large range of services to its clientele and complemented its offer.
Seno oversaw the quintupling of the assets under management of the BNP Paribas Miami site since his arrival in Miami in 2000, through organic growth as well as various acquisitions. Ms. Fredda Herz Brown, Principal, Relative Solutions
Fredda is a pioneer in the field of family enterprise. Her career in working with families who share substantial assets began almost twenty years ago after she completed a research project examining successful first to second generation transitions. Her research began at The Family Institute of Westchester, a world-renowned postgraduate training center in family systems work, which she founded with several colleagues. It is the expertise in family systems work that began there that continued in her consulting work with family enterprise.
Dr. Herz Brown was a member of the founding board of The Family Firm Institute where she also spearheaded the work on developing the body of knowledge that defined the work of the field. She has continued to serve on the editorial review board of its journal, THE FAMILY BUSINESS REVIEW. She has written and published extensively on the subjects of women in family enterprise, raising children in wealth, board and leadership development, family governance, harmony and communication, and philanthropy. Recently she has begun a second book with a working title of The First Organization; the influence of the family on our emotional intelligence. Her first book, Reweaving the Family Tapestry (Norton, 1991) marked her earlier work with families defining a model for understanding and working with them as they evolve through their life cycle. In 1993, Fredda and Mark Rubin founded The Metropolitan Group, LLC, an organization devoted to the education of, and consultation with, families who share assets -- whether as an operating company, a family office and/or a foundation. In 2006, Fredda joined with Dennis Jaffe, Fran Lotery and Sam Davis to form Relative Solutions, considerably expanding the depth of client services offered and the breadth of consultant availability. Along with her colleagues, she helps families achieve optimum functioning that will enhance their business and their financial lives. One of the underpinnings of Relative Solutions is the belief that building family intellectual, emotional and community capital is necessary for the preservation and growth of the family's other assets. Fredda is also in demand as a speaker. She is a guest lecturer at Wharton’s Private Wealth management Program, conducted in conjunction with the Institute for Private Investors. Additionally, she has continued her interest in training by maintaining faculty appointments at Rutgers University and Fairleigh Dickinson University. Rutgers was one of several universities, including CUNY and Hahnemann Medical Center, where Fredda taught early in her career. Fredda has received a number of awards recognizing her work in the field. In 1996 she received the Hollander award for her contribution to the community of family enterprise. Mr Robert Isbitts, CIO, Emerald Asset Advisors
Rob co-founded Emerald Asset Advisors LLC ("Emerald"), a Registered Investment Advisor firm, in 1998. He is the creator of the Hybrid investment approach and Emerald's other internally-managed portfolio styles, with his research efforts in this area dating back to the mid-1990's, long before Hybrid and hedged investment styles were fashionable for individual investors and their advisors. He chairs Emerald's Investment Committee. Since entering the the portfolio management business in 1986 Rob has seen the industry from many viewpoints, with positions at major banks, trust companies and brokerage firms in New York City and Florida prior to going independent with the formation of Emerald. Joseph Kellogg, Esq., TEP is an attorney licensed in New York and Florida. He currently heads the UBS Wealth Planning team in Miami providing wealth planning services for international private clients. Joseph began working in the area of international fiduciary services with the Citco Group in 1997 in Curacao, Netherlands Antilles and subsequently moved with Citco to the British Virgin Islands. Maria Elena Lagomasino (Mel) is Chief Executive Officer of GenSpring Family Offices, a multi-family office that was originally established in 1989 as AMA – Asset Management Advisors. Mel was named CEO of the firm in November 2005. A recognized leader in the wealth management industry, Mel was most recently Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of JP Morgan Private Bank, an institution with more than $300 billion in client assets under supervision.
Her career in banking began in 1977 at Citibank. She joined the Chase Manhattan Private Bank in 1983 as Vice President and Team Leader for Latin America and was named head of Chase’s worldwide private banking business in 1997. Following the Chase-JP Morgan merger, she became Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the JPMorgan Private Bank.
Mel serves on the boards of Avon Products, Inc., the Lincoln Center Theater, and is a Trustee on the Board of the National Geographic Society. She is also a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and The Economic Club of New York. In September 2006, she was appointed to serve on the Secretary of State’s Advisory Committee on Transformational Diplomacy. In November 2005, she was appointed by President Bush to help lead an effort to secure private sector funds to aid disaster victims in Central America.
A graduate of Manhattanville College (B.A.), Mel also completed graduate work at both Columbia University (M.S.) and Fordham University (M.B.A.).

Mr Steven Levitt, Managing Director, Cambridge International Partners
Steven, who joined Cambridge as a partner in 2005, is actively involved in business development and client advisory work. He has focused on middle-market M&A in the financial services sector for the past 10 years working with asset and wealth managers, broker-dealers, and fund administrators all over the world.
Steven re-joined Cambridge from MilleniumAssociates AG, a Swiss investment banking boutique, where he led the firm’s North American practice, focusing on strategic advisory work in the securities and investment advisory industry for North American and European financial institutions. Prior to that, Steven spent three years with Putnam Lovell Securities, also focused on strategic advisory and transactional work in the securities and investment advisory industry.
From 1997 through 1999, Steven was an Associate at Cambridge. During his career Steven has completed approximately thirty-five investment banking assignments. Steven holds a BA degree in Economics from Stanford University, and an MBA in Finance from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He is an alumnus of Stuyvesant High School. He is also a General Securities Principal.
Steven is a frequent speaker at industry conferences and seminars, and has been particularly active in the Speaker Retainer Program of the CFA Institute speaking on the topic of valuation of asset and wealth managers. Mr. Peter Stanyer, CIO, Overture Investments
Peter Stanyer began his career as an economist and for the last 18 years he has been advising investors from around the world on asset allocation and investment risk. Since October 2005 he has been Chief Investment Officer of Overture Investments, the New York-based investment adviser, he was formerly managing director at Merrill Lynch’s Global Private Client division in London and previously he was head of the portfolio risk and client advisory service for Merrill’s European fund management business. Prior to this Peter was Investment Director of the UK’s Railways Pension Fund and he has also worked as an economist for the Bank of England and also for the IMF. He was recently appointed to the Investment Committee of the Railways Pension Fund.
Prior to joining Overture Investments, Peter took a year off to write a book, titled “Guide to Investment Strategy, How to Understand Markets, Risks, Rewards and Behaviour” which was published in 2006 by The Economist worldwide and jointly with Bloomberg in the US. Peter studied Cambridge University, where he won the Adam Smith Prize for economics.

Previously, Mr. Suárez was head for Latin America at Bank Julius Baer in New York (2002-2004), CEO of Banorte Securities (1994-2000) and Head of Latin American Reasearch at Nomura (1992-1994).
Jorge founded and developed Paragon Global Funds in 1997, a family of funds of hedge funds listed in the Dublin Stock Exchange.
Since 1998, he has done weekly editorial contributions for Economía y Finanzas, broadcasted through CNN en Español; and since 2006 he has published Inversión Sin Fronteras, a weekly column at Yahoo! en Español. He has been guest of different programs of CNN, CNBC, PBS, Bloomberg Television, Univision, and numerous networks in Latin America.
He has been a guest speaker at Columbia University, Pace University, Tecnológico de Monterrey, ITAM, UPAEP, Universidad Panamericana, and different conferences in the United States, Mexico, Costa Rica, Venezuela, Argentina and Chile.
Since 2005, he serves on the Board of Trustees of the Puerto Rican Legal Defense and Education Fund, a non-for-profit entity that defends civil rights of Hispanics in the United States. Since 2004 he has served on the Board of Trustees of the Lycée Français of New York, and in the Advisory Board of the Museo del Barrio. From 1998 to 2000, he was the President of the Northeast Chapter of the US-Mexico Chamber of Commerce.
Jorge taught economics at the Universidad Panamericana in Mexico City from 1984 to 1988, after obtaining his BA in economics at the ITAM in Mexico City in 1983.

Mr Santiago Ulloa, President, GenSpring Family Offices
Mr. Ulloa founded TBK Investments in 2000 to counsel and advise high net worth families from around the world. With his dedication to objective and ethical service he has overseen the dramatic growth of TBK since inception. Prior to TBK, Mr. Ulloa was with BBVA “Banco Bilbao Vizcaya” where he was in charge of Private Banking for all of Latin America as well as product development and regional distribution for the Americas. He was an active member of the Council Board of Banco Provincial Overseas in Curazao (BBVA Group) and of the “BBVA American Fund Managers Limited” (BBVA’s asset management firm). Previously, he represented Argentaria in Argentina and was member of the Directive Council of Banco Exterior of Argentina. Formerly, he was Assistant Manager of Banco Banif de Gestion Privada (BSCH Group) in Spain, where he was part of the international team managing Private Banking assets abroad and international clients within Spain. He attended the Univerdiad Compluterse and he completed the Advanced Executive MBA Program at IESE in Barcelona, Spain. Mr. Ulloa is a frequent guest speaker on CNN Espanol and at investment and family office conferences. He has also written articles for Dinero magazine and other business publications.

Mr. Alberto Valenzuela, Deputy CEO, Societe Generale Private Bank (Suisse)
Mr. Valenzuela is presently Deputy CEO of SG Private Banking Suisse (S.A) and heads the Commercial and Development activities. SG Private Banking manages CHF 30 Billion in Private Banking Assets and has a staff of 400 in 7 locations (Geneva, Lausanne, Lugano, Miami, Montevideo, Curacao, and Zurich). Mr. Valenzuela was named to this position in July 2003 when Société Générale acquired 78% CBG - a private bank in Switzerland.
Prior to this position, he served from 1999 to 2003 as Country Head for Société Générale in Mexico where he was responsible for all banking activities including Investment Banking, Private Banking and Commercial Banking. He was also Senior Banker for the group to Pemex, UMS, CFE and Cemex.
From 1994 to 1999 Mr. Valenzuela was based in New York where he was a Director at the Latin American Corporate Finance Division of Sociéte Générale. In this capacity he was responsible for origination of Corporate Finance transactions for Mexico, Central America, Colombia and Venezuela.
Prior to joining SG, Mr. Valenzuela was an emerging market debt trader at France's Banque Worms from 1987 to 1991.
Mr. Valenzuela is a graduate of France's prestigious Ecole Nationale d' Administration and holds a Masters in Management from Ecole Supérieure de Commerce de Paris, additionally he has a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from UCLA (University of California Los Angeles) where he attended on a golf scholarship . He was captain of the team and the number one golfer in 1986 (All Pac -10).
Mr. Valenzuela is a scratch golfer who has won national championships in Europe and Mexico - he was a member of Mexico's national team to the World Amateur Championship and the Spirit International which Mexico won as a team.
Mr. Valenzuela is married to Diane Belvallette and together has two children (Albane 7, Alexis 3).

Dan Wright is Senior Vice President and Head, Wealth Management for the International Banking Division of Scotiabank.
