Exploiting the combination of mobile and NFC

This full-day workshop builds on the combination of mobile and NFC technology in a variety of sectors to help the participants develop both a shared baseline built from their practical experiences and useful perspectives on the future. The goal is to provide the participants with the knowledge to explore and exploit this genuinely disruptive technology combination in the Asian environment.
Session One: Contactless Crazy Understand the momentum for NFC in the mobile context Participants will be presented with some examples of contactless (proximity) deployments in a number of market sectors to identify the key drivers for stakeholders and to clarify the lessons already learned that are relevant to the mobile/NFC combination.
Session Two: Technical Architecture Providing a realistic view of where the technology is, how it is performing in practice and what the key strategic issues are In this session, participants will be introduced to a structured view of the combination of NFC and mobile technologies; review some practical experiences to understand basic technical architectures.
Session Three: New Opportunities Sharing new business opportunities built on top of these technologies Participants will walk through a roadmap that helps to locate mobile and NFC within the overall evolution of relevant technologies.

Masterclass leader:
David Birch, Consult Hyperion David G.W. Birch is a Director of Consult Hyperion, the IT management consultancy that specialises in electronic transactions, where he provides specialist consultancy support to clients around the world. Before helping to found Consult Hyperion in 1986, he spent several years working as a consultant in Europe, the Far East and North America. He graduated from the University of Southampton with a B.Sc (Hons.) in Physics. Dave is a member of the advisory board for European Business Review, writes regular columns for Financial World and SPEED, and UK correspondent to the Journal of Internet Banking and Commerce.
This will be a participatory event, combining presentations, discussions and breakout sessions. Participants should expect to leave the workshop with a broad understanding of the technologies, key players involved and business benefits of NFC.
