Dr. Martin Atkins,

Martin is Programme Manager and Research Director for BP’s activities in Dalian, China and is currently engaged in establishing a new laboratory for clean energy technologies with the Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics (DICP). Martin has worked in Dalian for the last two years. DICP is a research institute comprising ca 1800 personnel.

The technology development activity with DICP was started at the end of 2001 and has grown in stature and depth. BP has adopted the “open model” of collaboration and with DICP has developed protocols to handle IP, technology transfer and exploitation. This will equip the partnership with the vehicle for effective commercialisation of technology in and outside of China.

Prior to taking up the post in China, Martin worked on many multi-partner joint venture activities for BP in the field of process innovation and catalyst discovery. He managed three major European initiatives in the period 1985-1999.

He joined BP in 1980 with a background in mechanistic chemistry (Professor Bernard Golding) and scale-up of photochemical synthesis activities. Martin worked in the New Technology Division within BP’s Corporate Research Centre at Sunbury as a pilot plant technologist before moving into technology development and managing many of BP’s earlier university links and programmes in the field of catalysis and process innovation.

He has over 50 patents and publications in BP.



Vasant Bennett,

Vasant Bennett is the President and Managing Partner of Barry-Wehmiller International Resources (BWIR), a member of the consulting group of Barry-Wehmiller Companies, Inc. With a career spanning more than 20 years, Vasant was a pioneer in the introduction and execution of offshore outsourcing strategies for multiple manufacturing companies. At Barry-Wehmiller, he has played a key leadership role in the strategic positioning of the offshore model as a tool for enhancing the competitive position of the company’s 11 business divisions. Vasant helped set the strategic direction for Information Technology across the organization and launched a program to market IT and Engineering services to third-party customers worldwide. His prior experience includes working as an Assistant Professor of Information Systems at the University of Wisconsin-Superior and as a Business Systems Analyst for Marquip, Inc. Vasant holds an MBA from Tennessee Technological University and a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Annamalai University in India.

Peter Brudenall,

Peter joined Simmons & Simmons in 2001 and has been a partner since 2004.

Peter is a dual (UK and Australia) qualified lawyer and a specialist outsourcing advisor having worked on some of the largest outsourcing transactions in the UK in recent years. In addition, Peter advises on all areas of Information Technology Law including IT security, systems integration, licensing of intellectual property, data protection and e-commerce issues. He is experienced in advising a range of major Indian IT service providers on their involvement in UK and European projects, including Wipro, TCS and HCL.

Peter is the editor and co-author of Technology and Offshore Outsourcing Strategies published by Palgrave Macmillan, June 2005, and is a frequent speaker on technology and outsourcing law issues.


John Burns,

John Burns is a Managing Director of Credit Suisse and Asia Pacific Head of Information Technology, based in Hong Kong. Prior to this he held positions in front-office development in both London and Hong Kong, where he first arrived in 2000 as regional head of Equity IT.
Mr Burns joined Credit Suisse from BZW when it was acquired in 1997. At BZW, he was a director in Equity Technology, responsible for technical architecture and client-facing technology. Prior to that he had worked for a consultancy firm, providing business analysis, data management and IT strategy services to a range of clients including investment banks, utilities and UK government departments. He started his career in IT in local government, joining the Greater London Council as a trainee in 1982.
Mr Burns holds a BA in Economic and Social History from the University of Sheffield and an MSc in Operational Research from the University of Strathclyde.

Jerry Christoforo,

Albert "Jerry" Cristoforo is executive vice president and chief technology officer. He is head of enterprise information services and global markets technology services, overseeing all aspects of online information technology at State Street in support of Investor Services and Global Markets. He is also responsible for the office of architecture, corporate information security and data management services.
Mr. Cristoforo has been the driving force behind a number of systems development initiatives aimed at the re-architecture of State Street's information delivery infrastructure and the build-out of Global Markets' electronic execution strategy on Global Link. Additionally, he is Chairman of State Street Hangzhou Software Technology Company where he pioneered State Street's partnership with Zhejiang University's Research and Development Technology Center, which has grown to more than 350 staff members working exclusively on State Street software products.
Mr. Cristoforo joined State Street in 1994 from Image Business Systems, where he held the position of chief technology officer. He has also led Mutual Fund Technology Services where he drove the development of NAV Alert, an industry-leading product that provides instantaneous access to key fund data in order to automate the validation and reconciliation process when computing a fund’s net asset value (NAV).

Mr. Cristoforo is a senior computer/securities industry executive with in-depth technology and management experience in advanced distributed systems architecture, product development, workflow re-engineering, large-scale systems integration, and project management. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in mathematics from Northeastern University and has served as Master Lecturer in the computer science department of Boston University.

Bob serves as the Vice Chairman of Asia ex-Japan. Stephen Lund,

Stephen is a 20-year veteran of the financial industry and brings a broad and professional outlook to Nova Scotia Business Inc. As President & CEO, he leads a group of accomplished, business-focused employees who work to strengthen Nova Scotia’s economy through business growth.

Before he joined the NSBI team, Stephen was Vice-President of Working Ventures Canadian Fund, Canada’s largest national venture capital firm, where he led investing activities for the fund in Atlantic Canada. His work experience includes running an offshore mutual fund administration company, a lease financing company and several years in corporate commercial banking.

He is a graduate of St. Francis Xavier University and Queen’s University and has also completed a number of executive courses at Queen’s and Harvard. Mark Payne,

Mark has worked for Honeywell since 1999. Initially he was responsible for establishing their UK Financial Shared Service Center of 150 employees. He then added European responsibility to this role and managed various projects that off-shored European Finance operations into centers in Mexico, India and China.

In 2005 Mark integrated Novar’s Shared Services and Corporate Finance activities following Honeywell’s $1bn acquisition of Novar plc. In 2006 he was responsible for developing and overseeing the implementation of Honeywell's Travel & Expense Strategy and policies. This included rolling out Amex cards and web-based T&E software to over 50,000 users, with a central audit team based in Bangalore. He is currently developing the Global Finance infrastructure that will be required for Honeywell’s transition of some of its accounting processes to Genpact in India and China.

Mark is a Chartered Management Accountant with a BSc Honors degree in Accountancy and Statistics. Prior to working for Honeywell he worked for GEC Alstom, British Aerospace and ICI in various Controllership roles. He is married with 3 children and is based near London, UK.

Prithvijit heads Decision Support and Analytics Services (DSAS) at HP Services. In 2005, he was mandated to set up a Decision Support & Analytics services business for HP. Since then, Prithivjit has overseen the growth of HP's DSAS business to transform it into one of the largest and fastest growing players in the KPO industry. DSAS today comprises of a group of highly qualified professionals who work in DSAS Center of Excellence with specialization in Modeling and Optimization, Primary Research, Performance Analyses, Business Research, and Creative and Content Media Services. The domains DSAS is involved in is Sales & Marketing, Finance & Risk Management and Supply Chain Management.

Prior to joining HP, Prithvijit spent six years at GE Capital International Services (GECIS) – Analytics Division, where he was involved in a wide range of roles from services delivery to business development and marketing. During his tenure at GE, Prithivijit was part of a leadership team that was instrumental in building the first Analytics Services/ Outsourced Center in India. Prithvijit began his career as a consultant with National Institute of Public Finance and Policy (NIPFP), and subsequently moved to Tata Energy Research Institute (TERI), New Delhi. He is a member of the Advisory Board of Master of Science in Market Research at the University of Texas at Arlington.

Prithvijit's contributions to the Analytics industry in India have led him to become a key proponent of its growth.
He has been involved in all facets of an Analytics service business - from building growth and marketing plans, doing sales and business development to hiring and training people in Analytic tools, and managing global teams. His exposure in Analytics has been across various products lines like Banking, Credit Cards, Insurance, Healthcare, High-Tech, Consumer Packaged Goods etc., and across industry verticals.

Prithvijit is an Economics graduate from St. Xavier’s College in Kolkata, and a Masters in Quantitative Economics from Indian Statistical Institute in New Delhi and Kolkata in 1998.


Daniel Sadhu,

Daniel is based in Singapore and serves as the Asia-Pacific Sales Director. He manages a number of engagements for investment banks, hedge funds, private equity, fund of funds and large corporates.
From 1993 to 2001, Daniel worked for the global environmental engineering consulting firm Montgomery Watson Harza in the UK, Hong Kong and Singapore. His responsibilities included business development, regional Client account management and project management for Fortune 500 and large European organisations – chemical, industrial, automotive, semiconductor, FMCG, financial institutions and law firms. Daniel has undertaken project work for various Clients across Europe, North Asia, South-East Asia, India and Australia.

Sanjay Singh,

Sanjay Singh is the President & Country Manager of HP BPO in India. His responsibilities include delivery and business development for the BPO business in India, with all the BPO delivery centers in India reporting to him.

Prior to taking on this role, Sanjay was Director, Strategy and Business Operations for the BPO Organization, which included HP’s Shared Services footprint.

Sanjay has also worked at Accenture where he was an Engagement Manager in their Strategy group. He led and managed projects related to new market entry, operational effectiveness, and supply chain rationalization in a number of industries, including Technology, and Manufacturing. Sanjay has also worked for IBM Corporation and United Parcel Service.

He is acknowledged as an expert in the Shared Services domain and has been a frequent speaker at Shared Services & Outsourcing conferences, including speaking engagements at Stanford University, MIT and IPQC.

Kevin Taylor,

Kevin was appointed Chief Operating Officer in Asia Pacific for BT Asia Pacific in September 2006. Besides the overall responsibility for all sales activities in the region, Kevin also has responsibilities for directing the Sales, Business Management, Customer Service & Network Operations teams as well as managing BT’s relationships with key customers at a CEO level.
Kevin initially joined BT as vice president, Global Solutions in December 2003. His responsibilities included delivering and managing BT’s products, services and solutions, including IP infrastructure/WAN, Mobility, CRM, Conferencing, Security and Outsourcing throughout the Asia Pacific region.
The Global Solutions business closed and delivered £7 billion worth of business in the 12 months up to 2005, and Kevin has been one of the key contributors behind BT’s transformation to a network-centric outsourcing and services business.
Kevin brings to BT in Asia Pacific a wealth of experience gained through years of building businesses, and has been the architect behind many outsourcing deals.
In the early years of his career, he worked with Data Sciences (part of IBM), CFM (part of ICL), and later with the Capita Group. In each of these roles, managing and securing large outsourcing projects was a major component of his responsibilities.
Kevin also spent six years with global consulting company, James Martin & Co. in a variety of roles, including president and COO International for Europe and Asia Pacific, as global head of sales, and as head of offshore development
Kevin is based in Hong Kong.


Joseph Teo,
Vice President, Head of Planning and Governance,
Singapore Exchange


Joseph Teo is currently the Vice President and Function Head of Planning and Governance within the Technology Group at the Singapore Exchange. His current portfolio includes IT Planning, Vendor Governance and Quality Assurance for Technology. He has most recently directed the outsourcing of the Exchange’s Data Centre and IT infrastructure operations.

He was most recently Vice President and Head of Operations Planning at United Overseas Bank. At UOB, he was responsible for the business and financial planning for back-office operations, management information, risk reporting, and productivity improvements. He has led initiatives to secure ISO 9001:2000 certifications, and the Singapore Quality Class award for UOB Operations. Joseph was also played a key role in setting up a joint-venture and outsourcing back-office business processes for funds administration and distribution.

Prior to joining UOB, Joseph held a position as Assistant Director at the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) where he worked on the integration between the stock and futures exchanges in Singapore to form the Singapore Exchange and on the development of a policy framework for regulating electronic financial services.

He spent the early part of his career in information technology, technology management and process re-engineering for various public sector organisations in Singapore. These included the High and Subordinate Courts, and the Central Narcotics Bureau, and the National Registration Department.

Joseph graduated with High Honors in Computer Science from the University of California at Berkeley. He holds a Master of Science Degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and graduated from the MBA programme at Nanyang Technological University in 1996.



Noel Thomas,

Noel is responsible for ING Global BPO Services, working with Corporate Operations & Information Services, a Group-level unit reporting to the ING Executive Board. In this position, he has shaped the BPO agenda and is a Director of ING BPO Services India. Noel joined ING Australia in 1996, initially negotiated the outsourcing of infrastructure and then in 1999 moved within ING to Amsterdam to take up responsibility for ING IT Strategy. In that role, he has shaped the functional IT agenda and its alignment with the business as ING moves from a decentralized to a ‘line of business’ approach.

Noel has focused on the financial services industry – the banks and insurance companies, plus the service providers to the financial services industry - working internationally with a number of organizations. He has gained broad experience in this arena over the past 15 years, including operational management, outsourcing and service provision, management consulting, strategy, and organizational change initiatives. Noel was educated in New Zealand and Australia and holds a BSc(Hons) and MBA.

Rajnish Virmani is Chief Executive Officer of Aviva Global Services which is the offshoring arm of the Aviva Group located in the Indian subcontinent across five cities in two countries.

He joined the Aviva Group in December 2004 and was based in the UK gaining domain expertise in the insurance business, before taking charge as the CEO of AGS in September 2005.

As CEO of AGS, Rajnish brings over 24 years of industry experience to the table. His key responsibilities are to strategise and implement the offshoring initiative for Norwich Union, UK and the other Aviva businesses across the world while driving stringent performance norms to ensure that the benefits of offshoring are ploughed back to the UK. He has been successful in leading the first-ever BOT project in the BPO industry worldwide which has allowed Aviva to quickly set up a strong offshoring base in the Indian subcontinent.

Rajnish is an engineer with a management degree from Delhi University. He started his career with TATA Consultancy Services [TCS] as an IT consultant. During his six-year stint with TCS he was also based in the UK for three years. He then joined American Express [AmEx] and his 16-year association with them saw him in a variety of customer service and technology roles. He spent three years in the US during this time, based at the AmEx headquarters. In his 16 years with AmEx he has gained over 10 years of offshoring / BPO experience.

He is a complete outdoor person and has represented his college in inter-university tournaments in over nine different sports. He is a keen golfer and plays badminton, tennis and cricket whenever he is able to find some time out from his busy work schedule.

Lalit Wangikar,

Lalit leads the India operations of Inductis. He is responsible for continuing to build Inductis’ offshore delivery capabilities. Lalit has advised some of Inductis’ key clients on issues like customer attrition management, revenue enhancement, technology spend optimization etc.

Prior to Inductis, Lalit has advised several large financial services, media and technology clients on various management issues. His primary areas of expertise are consumer risk management, sourcing and IT strategy. Some of his work includes pricing consumer debt, advising a global financial institution on IT infrastructure strategy and management of corporate IT functions.

Lalit holds a B.Tech in Civil Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Mumbai and an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Ahmedabad. Previously, he worked as an engagement manager with Mitchell Madison Group and Deloitte Consulting. Prior to his MBA, he spent a couple of years as a Regional Manager of Industrial Sales for a medium sized Indian company.

George Zhibin Gu, a native of Xian in central China, is a journalist/ consultant based in Guangdong, China. He obtained his education at Nanjing University in China and Vanderbilt University and the University of Michigan in the United States.
