Mr Shankar Allimatti, Vice President, Next Generation Networks, Tech Mahindra
As Vice President, Shankar Allimatti heads the Next Generation Networking capability at Tech Mahindra and he also leads the Technology Council within the organization. He has been working with Tech Mahindra for past 9 years and has a total of over 35 years of experience in the Electronics and Telecommunications industry. Research & Development (R&D) and Management of the Technology has been Shankar’s core competency in this field.
With a deep understanding of the Next Generation futuristic technologies like IMS, IPTV, WiMax, Web 2.x and Broadband, Shankar has helped Tech Mahindra take a leadership position working with some of the Global Tier 1 Telecom Service Providers. Shankar has been closely consulting on the NGN projects with Telecom companies both in Service providers and Telecom Equipment Vendors.
Shankar also represents Tech Mahindra with in the NASSCOM community and has accepted the new role to chair the Telecom Interest Group (TIG) at the forum to continue leading the Indian software industry’s interests within the Telecom domain.
In his previous role, Shankar successfully spearheaded the R&D in Defense and Real time Systems within the Tata group where he successfully led a large team of Research and Development engineers and was responsible for setting up and Managing the telecommunications R&D lab for the Tata group.

Mr Syed Asghar, Network Security Architect, Vodafone Australia
Syed is the network security team leader at Vodafone Australia. He has architected, designed, implemented and supported complex networks within Vodafone and has achieved an overall understanding of various technologies like IMS, 2.5G, 3G and HSDPA. Syed has accomplished from planning to architect to design and then deployment of several projects with full understanding of the technology and the business requirements.

Mr Michael Biber, President, IPv6 Forum Downunder, IPv6 Forum
Mr. Biber is the CEO of an Australian consulting, education and network software distribution company, Asia Pacific Networx (APN). APN has been established for over 14 years and provides consultancy, project management, support and training in the areas of advanced technology network design, Broadband Networking, Voice and Video over IP, ASP Strategy, VPNs, LAN Interconnect, IP Networking, Voice/Video/Data Convergence, Thin Client/Server Based Computing, Windows NT/Exchange implementation and IT&T (Information Technology and Telecommunications) project management. APN is an accredited IPv6 Transition Authority and is actively involved in IPv6 strategic network planning.
Mr. Biber has over 35 years experience in the telecommunications industry. He worked for Telstra in Australia, Esso/Exxon in the US, Fujitsu in Australia/Japan and Digital Equipment Corporation in the US before commencing his consultancy, BiberTel Consulting Services, in 1992. BiberTel was absorbed into Asia Pacific Networx in 1996. He is the original Chair of the IPv6 Forum in Australia/New Zealand, Past Chair of the AARNet IPv6 Working Committee and External Relations Director of the Advanced Networking Forum Australia (ANFA).

Hugh Bradlow, Chief Technology Officer, Telstra Corporation
Hugh S. Bradlow is Chief Technology Officer for Telstra Corporation Limited and leads a group responsible for investigating the future technologies that will impact Telstra’s business. Prior to joining Telstra in September 1995, Professor Bradlow was Professor of Computer Engineering at the University of Wollongong in Australia. During his time at the University of Wollongong (from 1987 to 1995), he directed the Centre for Information Technology Research (CITR) and was Head of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. He also took leave of absence from his University duties for 4 years to be Foundation Director of the NorTel Technology Centre, a R&D facility established on the campus of the University of Wollongong, by Nortel Networks. Before coming to Australia in 1987, Professor Bradlow was Professor of Electrical Engineering (Digital Systems) at the University of Cape Town and a Control Systems Engineer at ICI Plastics Division in the United Kingdom.

Mr Paul Budde, Managing Director, BuddeCom
Paul Budde is the managing director of Paul Budde Communication (trading as BuddeComm), a global independent telecommunications research and consultancy company, which includes 45 national and international researchers in 15 countries.
His website (www.budde.com.au) has 2,000 research reports covering 170 countries, 400 companies and 200 technologies and applications. The company operates what is believed to be the largest telecommunications research service on the Internet and has over 3,000 customers in 80 different countries.
Paul is frequently interviewed on radio and television current affairs and news programs, as well as by the leading national and international financial and business press. He is quoted in company prospectuses and his knowledge of the industry is a valuable resource at the governmental level.

Mr Patrick Carson, Vice President of Multimedia Solutions and System Integration, Ericsson
Patrick has over 15 years experience in the IT&T industry in senior executive positions. Prior to coming to Australia Patrick held an executives position as Head of Solution Management at TelstraClear New Zealand a challenger Telco and leader in IP networking and applications. Patrick has worked for Telecom NZ and held various roles including leading the roll out of Broadband (JetStream) to the business market.
Patrick also worked for 3Com as NZ Country manager a US IT vendor. In his career he has held Sales Management roles and work in distribution and channel management positions.
Patrick is currently based in Melbourne and is Vice President Multimedia & System Integration for Ericsson ANZA.

Mr Richard Chirgwin, Research Manager, Market Clarity
Richard Chirgwin is Market Clarity's research manager. After a 17-year career as a technology journalist, including 13 years specialising in telecommunications and networking, Richard joined Telsyte as research manager in 2005. He joined Market Clarity as research manager in January 2006.
Richard's career highlights include 7 years as managing editor of Australian Communications (later relaunched as CommsWorld), launch editor of Comms.Network (for Reed Business Publishing), e-Access (for Auscom Publishing) and Systems Magazine (for Informa). He is a long-time columnist for Decisive Publishing's Communications Day.

Paul Gowans, Triple Play Global Business Development Manager for Agilent Technologies is a 16-year veteran of the communications industry. He is currently responsible for Agilent's OSS portfolio of NGN solutions focusing on Triple Play IP services. Mr. Gowans' expertise in Telephony, IP, Mobile, VPN/MPLS, VoIP and IMS comes from developing, supporting, marketing and consulting on major data networking and telecommunications projects.
Mr. Gowans is a seasoned spokesperson on many networking issues for a variety of international conferences and forums including VON, Supercomm, Billing World and Telestrategies. He is a graduate of Edinburgh University in Scotland with a B.S. in Computer Science and Management Science.

Mr Hubert Kjellberg, Head of Media, Ericsson Sweden
For over 50 years, broadcast television has more or less worked the same way: as a one-way distribution channel that provides a certain program at a certain time. But now this is changing, to something new and better. Soon, any time will be our personal prime time. We will begin to control and interact with TV and switch from passive viewing to active 'lean forward' participation. This is the view of Ericsson, whose networks handle the majority of existing mobile TV services. Hubert Kjellberg has been working with content and media for the past seven years. He has been active in creating and licensing content at different production and format companies and has his own media rights management company. Hubert has experience both from the media and communications sector as he has headed up Three's content department in Sweden and is presently the head of content at Ericsson.

Mr Abhijit Lahiri, Chief Technology Officer, BSS, Tech Mahindra
Abhijit Lahiri has been instrumental in transforming the BSS SI & Consulting practice at Tech Mahindra and has helped the company to become the 3rd largest BSS System Integrators globally for 2005 and 2006 (Gartner 2007). He has been in the forefront of technology and innovation in the end to end BSS programs with Adjunct Rating solutions (Achievement in Innovation – 2005 at B/OSS World - 2005), Best SI project (World Billing Awards, London, 2005) and Outstanding Achievement Award at B/OSS World, Chicago, 2007.

Mr Brendan Leitch, Director, Service Provider Marketing, Juniper Networks
Brendan is Juniper Networks’ APAC director for service provider marketing, responsible for all aspects of communicating Juniper’s unique value proposition to the regional service provider market segment including developing and implementing go-to-market strategies at a regional level, interfacing with local account teams, regional sales and marketing resources, as well as being responsible for various corporate marketing and business team functions. Brendan brings to Juniper 16 years of industry knowledge with 11 years of technical sales management and sales leadership experience in the Asia-Pacific region. He is based at Juniper’s APAC headquarters in Hong Kong. Before joining Juniper, Brendan was with Broadsoft as its Vice President of South East Asia and Japan, focusing on a range of SP solutions including next generation voice applications. Prior to Broadsoft, he worked for Cisco Systems in a variety of roles including as CTO of Service Providers and SE Director for Global Enterprise accounts in Asia Pacific. Brendan also worked with Nortel Networks in Asia and in Canada.
He has a B.Sc. in Computing Science from the University of Alberta.

Mr Alan Lloyd, Executive Director, Wwite plc
Alan Lloyd is a long time player in the large-scale directory, identity and information management area and is known internationally for his work with carriers, banking, government and allied defence forces worldwide. Alan initiated and was a key designer of what is now the Etrust directory, owned by Computer Associates. Alan is the principal architect and inventor of CADS and CADS SDP. In CADS SDP he has realised a 20 year vision to bring sophisticated, robust information engineering and customer service dimensions to the online world.

Dr Thomas Magedanz, Professor, Technical University of Berlin for Next Generation Networks
Thomas Magedanz (PhD) is full professor in the electrical engineering and computer sciences faculty at the Technical University of Berlin, Germany, leading the chair for next generation networks (www.av.tu-berlin.de). In addition, he is director of the “next generation network” division of the Fraunhofer Institute FOKUS (www.fokus.fraunhofer.de/NGNI ), which also provides a national Next Generation Network testbed in Germany. Since more than 18 years he is working in the convergence field of fixed and mobile telecommunications, the internet and information technologies, which resulted in many industry driven R&D projects centred around Next Generation Service Delivery platforms. In the course of his research activities he published more than 200 technical papers/articles. In addition, Prof Magedanz is senior member of the IEEE, editorial board member of several journals.
Based on his long experience in the teaching complex IT and telecommunication technologies to different customer segments in an easy to digest way, Prof. Magedanz is a globally recognised technology coach. His employments as university professor and division head of a major German R&D organisation make him a prime choice for such trainings, as he is able to provide a non-biased presentation of the technologies. He regularly provides strategic and technology briefings for many tier 1 and 2 operators and major international telecom vendors. As well, he acts often as invited tutorial speaker at major telecom conferences and workshops around the world.

Mr Keith Murray, Group General Manager, Commander
Keith Murray is the Group General Manager responsible for Converged Services at Commander Communications in Australia. In this role, Keith is responsible for the development, implementation and sales of converged services, and has directed the deployment of Commander’s new IMS based core network. Involved in the ICT industry for over 25 years, Keith has held roles in software development, systems engineering, marketing, sales and management in organisations such as Racal, Datacraft (now Dimension Data), Jtec and Eyretel. He has also worked on deploying carrier services in Europe, Asia and Australia, across quite widely varying technical standards such as X.25, ISDN and ATM, as well as quite different regulatory regimes. Keith holds a BSc/BE (Electrical Engineering) from the University of Sydney.

Mr John Neil, Executive Manager, Sector Analysis and Reporting Branch, ACMA (Australian Communications & Media Authority)
John Neil is currently responsible for developing and implementing a research strategy for ACMA and for coordination of ACMA’s approach to VoIP regulation. In his 32 years working in government John has been responsible for policy advising and program management in the portfolios of Prime Minister and Cabinet, Transport and Communications and Communications, Information Technology and the Arts. In the Communications portfolio he has been closely involved in such issues as: auctions of radiofrequency spectrum; privatisation of Telstra; monitoring of industry performance against regulated consumer safeguards; and ACA’s Vision20/20 project which developed scenarios about the possible future of communications.

Wing Ng, Head of Product Marketing, Hong Kong Broadband Network
Mr. Wing NG heads our Product Marketing Team, which specialises in advance products development that supports the Group's business growth strategies. Wing played a significant role in three of the "Firsts" in the history of Hong Kong's Telecommunications Development, and that of HKBN, including the launch of the "First" 1Gbps broadband access services using Fibre-To-The-Home/ Building technology; the "First" internet Speed Guarantee for the residential market, and also the introduction of the "First" ever Free Movie Downloads in Hong Kong. Wing's involvement had contributed to HKBN's role as a pioneer of Telecommunications in Hong Kong, as well as in the global arena. Other than the above contributions, Wing has also driven the development of many large-scale projects, e.g. bb200, bbDRIVE, bbBOX.
Wing graduated with a double major degree (Management of Organizations & Operations Management) from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and on graduation joined the Group as Management Trainee.

Mr Anders Norrga, Senior Marketing Manager, Ericsson
Mr. Norrga joined Ericsson in 2000 and has since been marketing responsible for several different product lines. He has been working with IMS since 2003 and is now marketing responsible for the Ericsson IMS solutions targeting fixed and mobile multimedia telephony. Before joining Ericsson Mr. Norrga worked as management consultant at Ernst&Young. Mr. Norrga holds a Master of Science in Industrial Engineering and Management.

Matthew Standish is the Head of International IMS and 3G practices at Deutsche Telekom, Matthew was assigned to Cingular Wireless's CTO directing IMS and Dual Mode Service deployments. Matthew has developed IPTV, Mobile TV and Video for Mobile Network Providers throughout Western Europe. Matthew is a leader in Wireless and Wireline convergence and is a Technical Advisor and Director for Venture Capitalists. Previously as a Vice President of Technology and Services with Avaya Mr. Standish was responsible for Storage Area Networking, Mobile Wireless, VoIP and Optical Networking deployments with customers such as Verizon, Comcast, Deutsche Telekom and Enterprises abroad. Previously, Mr. Standish held leadership positions at Motorola and Sycamore Networks.
