Prior to his appointment, in September 2000, Agut was Executive Chairman of Terra Lycos and responsible for the strategic direction and day-to-day operations of the company.

Prior to joining Terra, Agut was leader of the European Corporate Executive Council (CEC) of General Electric (GE) and was the first executive of General Electric in Europe. At General Electric, Agut previously held the roles of vice president and general manager of Marketing and Sales, president and CEO of GE Power Controls, and GE national executive for Spain and Portugal and chairman of the Pan European GE Quality Council.

Warwick Bartlett is the non executive chairman of The Association of British Bookmakers. In 1993 he formed Racing Data plc a company supplying teletext data to the betting industry. He was Chairman of The Bookmakers Committee to the Horserace Betting Levy board for 6 years to 2006. With Simon Holliday he formed Global Betting & Gaming Consultants (GBGC) in 1999. From 1999 he has completed consulting assignments for The Government of Malta, William Hill, Coral Eurobet, Stanley Leisure plc, Kantone Holdings plc, General Atlantic Partners, Bridgepoint Ltd, Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein, and Charterhouse Development Capital Ltd & Union Bank Switzerland. GBGC produce the highly acclaimed Global Gambling Report which details gambling that takes place in 247 legalised gambling jurisdictions and the GBGC 50 index of leading gambling stocks by market capitalisation. Warwick is rated amongst the top 20% of consultants at the Council of Advisors run by Gerson Lehrman. Warwick is a speaker at various gambling conferences and runs the GBGC Industry Seminar. The 2006 topic being The Future Funding of British Horseracing. In January 2007 he completed the GBGC report, No Chips without Fire an investigation into the global effect of the smoking ban for bingo and casino.

Chris Bell,

Chris Bell graduated with a B.A. Hons in Business Studies specialising in Marketing, having worked a 12 months sandwich section of his degree course with the engineering group Weir in Glasgow.

He then joined Allied Breweries as a Graduate Trainee and progressed during the next 4 months to Marketing Manager of their Eastern coast pub company, experiencing everything from working on the dray lorries and selling beer, to Working Men’s Clubs and Holiday Camps – as well as opening steak restaurants.

By 1986 he had become Allied Breweries’ youngest operating Company Director at Allied Beer Brands, their specialist company selling beer to Supermarkets and Cash and Carry’s. Two years later he progressed to Marketing and Buying Director of Victoria Wine, then Britain’s biggest off-licence chain.

In 1991 he left Allied Domecq to join Ladbrokes in order to add betting to his portfolio of pubs, alcohol and tobacco, and became Managing Director of the world’s largest bookmaker in 1995.

In 1999 Ladbrokes European betting operations and Vernons Pools were added to Chris’ responsibilities. In 2000 Chris’ responsibilities were expanded to include eGaming and International betting, and he is now CEO of Ladbrokes Plc. He is currently Vice Chairman of the ABB (Association of British Bookmakers), the betting industry’s trade association, and Vice Chairman of the Bookmakers' Committee.


Nigel Birrell,

Mr Birrell joined PartyGaming plc in December 2005 as Director of Mergers and Acquisitions. He joined from HIT Entertainment Plc, one of the world’s leading entertainment companies.

Having joined as Head of Mergers and Acquisition in 1999, Mr Birrell was appointed to the Board of HIT in 2000 as Director of Corporate Development and Acquisitions. His other roles at HIT Entertainment included investor relations, analyst and public relations and he was the Board Director responsible for Guinness World Records and Fun Radio, of which was also Chairman.

He led Hit Entertainments’ acquisition of several well-known and established entertainment brands, including Barney the Dinosaur, Thomas the Tank Engine, Guinness World Records, Art Attack, Sooty, Fireman Sam and Pingu. He also played a prime roll in devising, negotiating and establishing SPROUT, the only dedicated 24-hour digital pre-school satellite and cable telephone channel that was launched in the United States in September this year.

Prior to HIT Entertainment, Mr Birrell, who is a qualified lawyer, was Senior Vice President in The European mergers and acquisitions group at Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette, now part of Credit Suisse First Boston, and also spent 10 years working in corporate finance at Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein.

Since arriving at PartyGaming Mr Birrell has led the successful acquisition of Gamebookers, PartyGaming’s entry into sports betting, its disposal of its interest in the Poker Channel, its acquisition and integration of Empire On-line and IOG’s casino operations.

Anthony Novac,

Anthony Novac When the first terrestrial casinos were licensed in the early 1990’s in Canada, Mr. Novac successfully represented 2 different casino management groups in their bids for management licenses in 4 provinces. Later, Mr. Novac developed Ontario’s first Charitable casino. In 1999 he jumped into the online gaming market developing and operating an online bingo site, developing the first wireless wagering platform, and later founded the industry’s first lobby group in Antigua. In 2001, Mr. Novac co-founded a company that developed one of the first betting exchanges. In 2005 he co-founded Trident Gaming which purchased Gamebookers, a European-facing sports book. After almost doubling margins, doubling the customer database and significantly improving earnings, Gamebookers was sold to Party Gaming in 2006. Mr. Novac currently is CEO of Trident Gaming which is an active investor in the online gaming space as well as a consultant on operational, corporate finance and M&A. Mr. Novac is also building a 55,000 square foot casino for Sonco Gaming in Calgary, Canada that will open in Autumn, 2007.

Alan Pedley,

Alan Pedley has been involved with advanced technology since the end of the 1970’s.

From April 1990 until December 1998 Alan was responsible for the development and regulation of all technology based gambling within the Northern Territory of Australia . He was a founding member of the (Australian and New Zealand) National Standards for Gaming Machine Regulation steering committee and working party. His industry knowledge, leadership and project management skills were a significant factor in the Northern Territory implementing Australia’s only on-time, on-budget wide-area gaming machine industry.

Under Alan’s management the Northern Territory established a world leading position for regulated interactive gambling with both bookmakers and casinos operating on-line by 1999, in a controlled regulated manner. Justin Thouin is the Vice President of Casino at CryptoLogic Inc., and has been with the company since July 21, 2003. Mr. Thouin leads the strategic direction of CryptoLogic's Internet casino suite to ensure that the company continues to lead the market in innovation. He is responsible for player research to drive game development and for developing strategic partnerships with such top brands as Marvel, Bejeweled and Cubis. Prior to his tenure at CryptoLogic, Justin worked at Maple Leaf Foods, Canada's largest food company, in a variety of roles including consumer marketing, sales, and finance. Justin has a Commerce (Honours) degree from Queen's University in Kingston Ontario, a leading Canadian business school.

The Alderney Gambling Commission


André Wilsenach has been the CEO of the Alderney Gambling Control Commission, since 2002. This is an independent and non-political regulatory authority in the Channel Islands, established to license and regulate interactive gaming and betting in Alderney.

André is an economist by training, and worked for the Africa Institute of South Africa, the Development Bank of Southern Africa and Ernst &Young, South Africa from 1982 to 1994.
