Tom Ballantyne, Chief Correspondent of the Hong Kong-published Orient Aviation magazine, has 40 years experience in international journalism. Still based in Sydney, Australia, he won the prestigious GE Aircraft Engines Award for the Best Air Transport Submission at the Royal Aerospace Society’s Journalist of the Year Awards in London in 1998. He has since won many other awards. He travels extensively around the world to report on all aspects of the airline industry and will be your chairperson for day one of the event.

He will be on the Transport analyst panel of day 1.

Callum is the senior Transport Analyst in Australia. He joined Macquarie in 2002, having previously worked at Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu for 2 years in Deloitte Growth Solutions. During his time at Macquarie he has researched the food and beverage industries before moving into his current role. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the Australian National University, a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Technology Sydney and a Masters of Commerce from the University of NSW.

Dennis Chant is a member of the Board of Airports Council International – Asia Pacific Region and formerly Chairman of Gold Coast Tourism, Australian largest regional tourism organisation. He is a panelist on day of the event.

Since leaving PWC in 1987, Kirby has held a number of senior financial roles, including 7 years with the Toronto Dominion Bank and the Victorian Plantation Corporation. IATA has undergone substantial restructuring and redirection in recent years. Mr. Drysdale has led this change in the Asia/ Pacific region. He has had extensive experience in aviation and tourism in Asia, Australia and the South Pacific. He is a former Aircraft engineer.

Prior to 2005, Steven was General Manager - Airport Operations at Sydney Airport, Australasia’s largest airport. Previous roles include Commercial and Finance positions at Sydney Airport and roles in the Australian Government during the privatisation of Australia’s airports. He will be presenting on day 2.

Peter Gregg was appointed Chief Financial Officer and a member of the Board of Directors of Qantas Airways
Limited on 13 September 2000.
Peter is also a Director of Air Pacific Limited and the Singapore based low cost carrier, Jetstar Asia.
Qantas is ranked in the top 30 listed Australian companies by market capitalisation, with an annual turnover
in excess of $12 billion. In terms of Total Shareholder Return, Qantas is one of the best performing airlines
in the world.
The role of CFO at the Qantas Group is responsible for Finance, Strategy, Qantas Business Services, Risk
Management, Investor Relations, and the Transformation Projects Qantas is undertaking to ensure its growth
in a rapidly changing aviation market.
Prior to being appointed CFO, Peter was Deputy CFO and Group Treasurer at Qantas. He was also Treasurer of
Australian Airlines and has worked for the Queensland Government in various Risk Management roles.

He is a Fellow of the FTA, a member of the AICD, was educated at Queensland University and holds a Bachelor
of Economics degree.

He is committed to expanding the role of the Association as the leading trade organization for international airlines based in the Asia-Pacific region; voicing the concerns of member airlines and other industry stakeholders on matters of common interest; and promoting the growth of international civil aviation. Ron is the masterclass leader. As the leader of Gensler’s firmwide Aviation practice areas, Ron has devoted over 27 years of his career to the design of airport terminal facilities and is responsible for establishing corporate overview on all airport projects. He has authored numerous articles, and delivered dissertations on terminal design for international journals and industry conferences.
Ron has also emerged as an expert with the new, post 9/11 security requirements and has recently been quoted in Time, the LA Times, The New York Times, the Wall Street Journal and USA Today. Most recently, Ron has served as Project Director for the new North Terminal at Wayne County's Detroit Metropolitan Airport.
Ron received his Bachelor of Architecture with Honors from the University of California, Berkeley in 1968. He is a member of the American Institute of Architects, an Associate on the Airports Council International, a Member of the Airport Consultants Council, and a Corporate Member of the American Association of Airport Executives.


Mr Udom Tantiprasongchai,

Udom is the founder of Thailand’s low-fare airlines One-Two-GO, as a subsidiary to Orient Thai Airlines. An aviation expert in South East Asia, Udom’s experience in airlines is over decade-old. A pioneer in innovative air travel services, he established Cambodia’s first privately run airlines in the early 1990s, then went on to found Orient Thai Airlines, one of Asia’s first and leader in air charter services. As the driving force behind the deregulation in the Thai commercial aviation market, and as a well-established and candid speaker with great aviation insights, Udom is not just an aviation expert, but a true airlines man at heart. He will be on the key panel for day 2.

Michael Taylor is currently Secretary, Department of Transport and Regional Services (Nov 2004 – current).

He has had more than a decade of extensive experience at chief executive level, including as Secretary, Department of Agriculture, Fisheries & Forestry – Australia (2000 - 2004), leadership of three Departments for the State Government of Victoria (Agriculture, Energy & Minerals, and Natural Resource & Environment) (1992 – 2000) and Chief Executive of the Australian Dairy Industry Council (1990 – 1992). He is also a member of an extensive range of boards, including the Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal, the Australian Logistics Council, the Trade Policy Advisory Council, the Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research (ACIAR), the Crawford Fund and President of the Institute of Public Administration Australia (ACT Branch). He is a fellow of both the Australian Institute of Administration, and the Institute of Public Administration of Australia (Vic).

Mike has been involved in work at State, Commonwealth and an international level across a wide range of management, primary industry, water, environmental and sustainable natural resource management issues.

Recently he has played a major national leadership role in improved border/quarantine arrangements to protect Australia from pests and diseases, the development of the National Food Industry Strategy and the establishment and implementation of the National Action Plan for Dryland Salinity and Water Quality and the National Water Initiative.

Mike is also Chair of the Commonwealth/State Standing Committee on Transport, and Chair of the Commonwealth/State Standing Committee on Regional Development.


Mr Abdul Wahab Teffaha,

Arab Air Carriers Organisation


Mr. Teffaha was elected Secretary General of the Association in June 1996 and still serves in this capacity. In his career he participated in a large number of international and regional conferences. On the regional level Mr. Teffaha played a key role in developing a new strategy for AACO based on collective power of negotiations in order to achieve better economic results for the Arab Airlines. AACO is now working on a joint approach towards the adoption of New Generation Passenger Management systems and better empowerment of E-commerce tools. He is a liberalisation panelist on day 1 and a roundtable leader on day 2 of the event.

Jeh Wadia’s, founder of GoAir, will be a panelist on the key panel of day 2. He is an experienced manager and entrepreneur. GoAir is a low cost airline in India, starting operations in October 2005.
