Masterclass

Airports of the future: design and innovation

Masterclass objective
The objective of this Masterclass is to explore the magnitude of issues facing our aviation industry, especially the terminal facility. We are at the beginning of a great sea change with future innovations in terminal design at the forefront. This workshop will explore some of these innovations by examining their cause and impact on current design as well as looking at new paradigms that will eventually change how we view and how we use the airports of the future.

Your Masterclass leader:

Ron Steinert, Principal, Gensler
As the leader of Gensler’s firmwide aviation practice areas, Ron has devoted over 27 years of his career to the design of airport terminal facilities and is responsible for establishing corporate overview on all airport projects. He has authored numerous articles, and delivered dissertations on terminal design for international journals and industry conferences. Ron has also emerged as an expert with the new, post 9/11 security requirements and has recently been quoted in Time, the LA Times, The New York Times, the Wall Street Journal and USA Today.  Most recently, Ron has served as Project Director for the new North Terminal at Wayne County's Detroit Metropolitan Airport.
