Andrew Ballingal is the founder and chief executive of Ballingal Investment Advisors, an independent investment firm based in Hong Kong. The firm focuses exclusively on Asia Pacific absolute return investment, and currently manages two funds, the BIA Pacific Fund and the BIA Pacific Macro Fund.

Mr Bhagyesh Dash, Managing Director, Crosby Capital Partners
Mr. Dash is a Managing Director of Crosby Capital Partners in Singapore and a member of Crosby’s natural resources and energy team. Mr. Dash joined Crosby in 2002 and has worked on most of Crosby’s mining and energy related deals including the takeover bids for Novus Petroleum and Tethyan Copper Company.
Prior to Crosby, Mr. Dash was a Director with Triton Advisory, a corporate finance advisory firm based in Indonesia focused on mergers and acquisitions advisory work in the natural resources sector. Whilst at Triton, he was involved in the privatization of PT. Timah (at the time the world’s largest tin mining company), PT. Aneka Tambang (state owned nickel and gold producer) and PT. Bukit Asam (one of Indonesia’s largest coal producers). He was also involved in advising investors on the acquisition of various coal companies including Kaltim Prima Coal, Arutmin, Adaro Coal and Berau Coal all of whom are amongst the 5 largest coal producers in Indonesia.

Dr Farmer has 15 years of international experience in all aspects of exploration, with an emphasis on international joint ventures and business development. After graduating from the University of Southampton, he completed a PhD at the Royal School of Mines in London. Previous positions include Vice-President Australasia and Chief Geologist, Phelps Dodge Exploration Corporation; and Senior Geologist with both Highlands Gold (Indonesia) Pty Ltd and Billiton Indonesia BV.
Dr Farmer worked at the Lebong Tandai and Wetar gold mines in Indonesia, focusing on mine exploration. Elsewhere in the region, he has worked on gold, copper and base metal exploration projects in the Philippines, China, India and Australia and has evaluated projects in PNG, Laos, Korea, Malaysia, Thailand, Mexico, USA, Eastern Europe, South America, Fiji, Solomon Islands, New Caledonia and Canada.

Dr. A.S.Firoz is a reputed economist from India, known worldwide for his work on the steel and energy industries as also on international trade matters. He worked on the problem of disequilibrium states of the market in reference to the erstwhile centrally planned economies for which he was awarded the Ph.D. by the coveted Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi, India. He also worked on the concept of soft budget constraint syndrome.
He has a large number of research papers and articles published in major research journals and top Indian business newspapers. He has also addressed a very large number of international and national conferences and seminars on subject matters ranging from the industrial development to government policy issues.
Currently, he is Chief Economist at the Economic Research Unit of the Ministry of Steel, Government of India. Earlier he worked as a Consultant to the Bureau of Industrial Costs and Prices ( now re-designated as the Tariff Commission), Ministry of Industry, Government of India.

Mike Higgins graduated in 1971 from the University of NSW in Sydney, Australia with a BSc (Hons), majoring in Geology. From 1974 to 1994, he worked throughout Australia and different parts of the world for the Shell/Billiton Group companies at senior executive levels. This included a 3-year posting to Billiton’s head office in The Hague where Mike coordinated new business development in Africa, SE Asia/Pacific and the Americas.
He has experience in conceiving, managing and implementing successful exploration strategies worldwide, several of which have led to the discovery and commercial advancement of major gold resources. These include Mt. Todd (NT, Australia), Goldridge (Transvaal, South Africa), Poura/Larafella (Burkina Faso) and Agbaou (Ivory Coast), with a combined total in excess of 8 million ounces gold in resources discovered. The first two of these discoveries became operating open pit mines – Mt Todd has since closed, while Goldridge is still being operated by Harmony Gold. The others are at pre-feasibility stage.
In 1995, Mr. Higgins established Jandera Resources NL, an Australian unlisted public company, and secured funding and its West African gold exploration assets. Jandera was the subject of a public takeover in late-1997, and subsequent new owners explored its West Africa gold properties with some success, resulting in close to a million ounces in resource having been defined at Agbaou and nearby properties. In 1998, Mike established BSM Mining NL with co-directors Chris Rashleigh and Rolly Nice. This is a privately funded company involved in resource acquisition and development, and was instrumental in spinning off Goldcrest Mines Ltd, listed in Toronto, and Indo Gold Limited.

Educated at the Colorado School of Mines, Patrick has worked as a geologist and geochemist in mining and mineral exploration for 17 years. His experience spans all manner of exploration projects and mines in approximately 20 countries. He has worked in exploration for junior companies (Westmont Mining) and in mines and exploration for major companies (Rio Tinto, BHP Minerals, and Newmont Mining Corporation). He also spent 5 years as Chief Geochemist and US Manager for one of the largest international laboratory groups, ALS Chemex. He brings a diverse perspective to his current role as Global Manager of Exploration Business Development for Newmont Mining Corporation. Patrick coordinates the global exploration deal-making efforts of Newmont from the company’s corporate offices in Denver, Colorado.

Mr Robbins is the Managing Director of Indophil Resources NL, a publicly-listed Australian company. Indophil holds an interest in the Tampakan Copper Gold Project in the southern Philippines. The Tampakan project is the largest undeveloped copper deposit in SE Asia and was recently the subject of a US$21 million pre-feasibility study that confirmed the projects robustness and world class status. Indophil also has an interest in other exploration projects in the Philippines and is looking to take advantage of the improved investment environment in the Asia Pacific region to build its exploration portfolio.
Mr Robbins is a Director of Philippines-based associate company, Sagittarius Mines, Inc. He has been President of the Philippine Mining Exploration Association since 1999 and is on the Board of the Chamber of Mines of the Philippines.
Before founding Indophil in 1996, Mr Robbins held senior and executive positions with WMC Limited, including those of Senior Geochemist, Exploration Manager Eastern Australia and Exploration Manager SE Asia Pacific Region – a position in which he managed the exploration program that led to the discovery of the Tampakan deposit. Mr Robbins has taught and published on the subject of exploration geochemistry and exploration in SE Asia. He has also represented the Philippines on a United Nations project. Mr Robbins lives in the Philippines.

Mr. Stewart holds a Masters Degree in Geology and has 32 years of international and North American experience in the mineral industry. His early career development was with St. Joseph Exploration Limited, Noranda Exploration and AGIP Canada before assuming progressively more senior management positions with Northern Minerals in 1991. Mr. Stewart was President and CEO of Eurasia Gold Corp. from 1997 until 2000. From 2003, Mr. Stewart has been President and Chief Operating Officer of Alhambra Resources Ltd.
Mr. Stewart has been involved in evaluating uranium, base metal and precious metal projects in Eastern Europe, Mexico, North America and South America. In 1999, he directed the purchase, financing and development of two heap leach gold projects in Kazakhstan.
Mr. Stewart is a registered Geologist with the Association of Professional Engineers, Geologists and Geophysicists of Alberta, Canada.

Mr Thomson holds a B.E(Mining), an MBA and is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy. He has 30 years of Australian and international experience in exploration, feasibility, development, construction, operations, corporate development and project financing. He commenced his career as an overseer miner/shift boss in underground gold mining in Zimbabwe and then returned to Australia in senior open pit operational roles in coal and gold followed by Project Manager of two Cu SX/EW operations. For the last 12 years he has specialised in Asian mining developments. He has held in-country positions of General Manager Development for the feasibility, financing, construction and delivery into operations of ASX listed Kingsgate’s Chatree Gold Mine in Thailand and Project Director for the construction and operations delivery for Oxiana’s (ASX) Sepon Gold Mine in Laos PDR. For the last 3 1/2 years he was CEO of Philippine focussed Climax Mining Ltd (ASX) which has recently merged with New Zealand’s largest gold miner, Oceana Gold. With Climax, he worked closely with Chairman Jim Askew on funding and revitalising the Company including re-engineering and permitting the 230,000 oz Au equiv pa Didipio project - now under construction. In this period there was a fifteen fold market re-rating for Climax to AUD 300 million prior to merger. He was a founding director of Asian Mineral Resources ( ASN on TSX.V) and appointed CEO in November 2006. ASN proposes to develop the Ban Phuc nickel sulphide project in Nth Vietnam after expected grant of the mining lease in early 2007.
