Masterclass: Urban water pricing This interactive half day workshop will take you through the key issues that arise from pricing of urban water services. The intensifying focus on urban water management on the policy agenda highlights the importance of pricing urban water services. This presents an array of unique and complex pricing challenges. Not only is robust and rigorous pricing crucial to delivering on the triple bottom line, it is also becoming increasingly important to minimising risk. Key issues to be addressed: Cost concepts Issues in applying building blocks assessment Quantifying scarcity values Valuing externalities and implications for pricing Assessing reliability levels and its impact on pricing Identifying and managing regulatory risk Pricing structures About your masterclass leader Euan Morton is a Principal at Synergies Economic Consulting, a company he formed in 2004. He advises extensively in the water industry on costing, pricing, planning, contractual, economic impact and policy issues. He was also an advisor to the Water Reform Unit and has advised bulk water suppliers, retailers, users, governments and regulators. Euan has recently been appointed to an Expert Panel by the Ministerial Council on Energy to review regulatory arrangements associated with the ongoing reforms to energy markets. He is also an Independent Expert under the National Electricity Rules and a member of the Trade Practices Committee of the Law Council of Australia. Course times and documentation Registration starts at 9.00am. The masterclass will commence at 9.30 am and finish at 12.30pm. Lunch and refreshments will be served at appropriate times. Participants will receive all master class materials.
