Mr Nathan Bell,

Nathan Bell, who joined BT in 2002, heads up BT’s product strategy and market development team for the Asia Pacific region. Nathan and his team are responsible for developing and delivering BT’s product and services roadmap for the region. Responsibilities include the regional forecasting and portfolio planning process, portfolio harmonisation and developing regional products and services, portfolio P&L and supporting account managers on bids. Nathan has extensive global experience having worked in the Netherlands, Central and Eastern Europe and, most recently, Asia Pacific. He started his career with AT&T-Unisource as a market development specialist for internet transit services. Following the acquisition of AT&T-Unisource by Infonet, Nathan was a sales executive in Central and Eastern Europe for wholesale and enterprise customers. Building on that experience, Nathan joined KPNQwest as director of wholesale IP services.

Gary Blough,

Gary R. Blough has been executive vice president of worldwide sales for Interactive Intelligence
since July 2004. Blough had been vice president of sales for Europe, Middle East and Africa since
January 2002, and served as area director and vice president of sales for Western U.S. and Latin
America since joining the company in February 1997. From January 1992 to February 1997, Blough held
various sales positions at CRM software company, Software Artistry, including manager of Western
region sales, from January 1993 to February 1997. From January 1990 to December 1992, Blough was
director of sales for On-Line Software, a developer of programmer productivity tools. Blough has a
bachelor's degree in marketing from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.


Hugh Bradlow,

Hugh is responsible for investigating the future technologies that will impact Telstra’s business.
Prior to joining Telstra in September 1995, he was Professor of Computer Engineering at the
University of Wollongong in Australia. During this time, Hugh directed the Centre for Information
Technology Research and was Head of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. He also
took leave of absence from his University duties for 4 years to be Foundation Director of the Nortel
Technology Centre, an R&D facility established on the campus of the University of Wollongong, by
Nortel Networks. Before moving to Australia in 1987, Hugh was Professor of Electrical Engineering
(Digital Systems) at the University of Cape Town and a Control Systems Engineer at ICI Plastics
Division in the United Kingdom. Hugh has previously been a member of the Victorian Government’s
ICT Advisory Group and the Advisory Group that assisted the Chief Scientist in developing the
“Backing Australia’s Ability” plan.


Mr Paul Bristow,

Paul started his technical career with a 13-year stint with Telstra. He has also worked for Plessey and Siemens as a customer service engineer before joining Advance Bank. The Bank merged with St George Bank and Paul has held technical roles within the voice department of St George Bank until his present IT managerial role. Paul has been in his current position for 2 years, as manager responsible for all operational and infrastructure issues relating to the Bank's voice and data networks, as well as the Bank’s contact centre.

Andrew Bycroft,

Andrew is a security specialist with more than ten years experience in networking and security. He has skills across a diversity of security concepts in addition to holding certificates such as the much sought after CISSP. Before joining Fortinet International, Andrew worked for the leading voice, data, applications and cabling systems integrator, Integ Communications. Prior to that, he worked for the global integrator and managed services provider, Atos Origin. Andrew has written whitepapers & presented several talks on the topic of securing VoIP including presenting talks at AUSCERT and other security/network related conferences. He has also been instrumental in several deployments securing VoIP installations for large businesses.

Matt Durand,

Matt joined ISPhone Australasia in March, 2006 as Head Network Engineer with more than seven years of
experience in the IT industry in Europe and Australia.
Squarely placed at the top of his profession, Matt holds two Masters degrees; one in Computer Science from
the Engineering Grande Ecole (EISTI) and one in Engineering Management from Florida Institute of Technology.
He has also passed several key IT industry certifications in Australia, including the Cisco certifications
CCNA and CCNP.

Matt started his career with NEC Europe and then joined SITA/Equant in 1999 where he worked on some of the
world largest Nortel Passport and IP/VPN networks. He moved to Australia in 2002 as a Team Leader with Equant
then moved to Vodafone Australia before joining ISPhone.
Matt brings strong networking experience to ISPhone Australasia, having worked on some of the largest
Data/Voice networks in the world.


Ms Shara Evans,

Shara has been active in the telecommunications industry for over 20 years and has held a variety of executive positions with Alcatel, Sprint, Telenet, GTE and SmithKline. She now heads a market research organisation specialising in the Australian telecommunications market. Prior to establishing Market Clarity in January 2006, Shara was the Founder and Managing Director of Telsyte — an independent telecommunications research and strategy consultancy that specialises in broadband technologies, services and metrics.

Mr David Forman,

David Forman is the executive director of the Competitive Carriers’ Coalition. The CCC was formed as a
loose alliance in 2001 as a vehicle for the non-dominant, pro-competition carriers to present a single
voice in support of policy and regulatory reform. It was incorporated as a formal industry association
in August 2004. Combined, its members represent more than $4 billion of investment in telecommunications
infrastructure.

The members of the CCC strongly support infrastructure-based competition are the best form of sustainable
competition in telecommunications in Australia and are committed to promoting debate about the policy and
regulatory settings.

Prior to joining the CCC, he was General Manager Corporate Affairs and Regulatory for Comindico, a position
he held from 2002. Prior to that, he was Vice President Corporate Affairs with Redfern Photonics.


Mr Doug Gardner,

Doug is currently based in Frankfurt, Germany and was Managing Director of Avaya’s World Cup Program between 2002 and 2006. Doug is responsible for the total project management, including in-country project teams and cost controls for FIFA’s World Cup events. He has been with AT&T, then Lucent and now Avaya in various management roles since 1992. Doug has a sales and marketing background and has led communications and call centre technology businesses for global Telco and IT companies. Prior to his current role at Avaya, he was Regional Managing Director, Global System Integrator Alliances for Avaya’s Asia Pacific region. He managed a team across the region focused on the development of strategic alliances with Global System Integrators Partners. He has built sales and support activities for Avaya’s solutions in the Enterprise Network market in Asia/Pacific and Greater China through Alliances such as IBM, EDS, Unisys, HP, Accenture, Anderson and PwC.

David Havyatt,

David manages AAPT’s relationships with government and telecommunications regulatory bodies.
He has more than 25 years experience in telecommunications, including over sixteen years with
Telstra, where he held numerous positions in corporate sales, planning and strategy. During
his career, David has also consulted to a number of telecommunications, pay TV and other
content ventures on regulatory issues and company strategy, and held the position of Regulatory
Manager at Hutchison Telecoms (Orange) prior to joining AAPT. He is a current member of the
Boards of the Australian Communications Industry Forum (ACIF) and Australian Mobile
Telecommunications Association (AMTA), and has previously served on the Board of the
Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman (TIO).


Mr Matthew Healy,

Matt’s responsibilities include government liaison and the management of regulatory issues in Australia and Asia-Pacific. Matt is a Director of the Competitive Carriers Coalition (CCC) and a Board Member of the Australian Communications Industry Forum (ACIF). Prior to joining Macquarie Telecom, Matt held the position of Director of Enforcement with the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission.

Mr Craig Hinkley,

Craig has over 13 years experience in the communications industry and is recognized as a technical expert in a wide range of data communication, computer network technologies, network protocols, services and applications.
Craig and his team are responsible for establishing Network Architectures for Voice and Data networks to support Bank of America’s strategic business plan throughout the United States. A key function is also analyzing the appropriate direction of network architecture, standards and systems in light of changing business priorities, business strategies and competitive market forces with the goal of decreasing TCO; improving service, improving process and decreasing time to market through business lead technology innovation. Bank of America has initiated a major VoIP transformation program to convert 180,000 handsets to IP handsets over the next two years.


Ms Rosemary Howard,

Before joining Telstra Product Management as Managing Director, Fixed Line, Rosemary was Chief Executive of TelstraClear, Telstra’s subsidiary challenger business in New Zealand. Prior to joining TelstraClear in 2001, Rosemary was one of Telstra’s most senior women executives, running one of its fastest growing business units – Telstra Wholesale. Rosemary has also worked in a number of other management roles in Telstra and with the NSW Government.

Ms Anne Hurley,

Anne has worked on communications issues both in Australia and overseas for many years. Her extensive
experience includes working in the corporate, legal and academic sectors across communications, trade
practices, telecommunications policy and regulation. Anne represents ACIF, which is a member-funded
organisation established to self-regulate and to foster competition in the telecommunications industry.
Anne has published a number of specialised competition and telecommunications law texts and has lectured
at both the University of Sydney and the Australian National University.

John has served on the Boards of several private and public companies in the broadcast media and
telecommunications sectors. He has also been involved with various telecommunications projects,
ranging from national DSLAM and fibre rollouts, to secure private networks for government. John
has been active in the technological requirements of the ‘triple-play’ delivery of IP networks for
several years, and completed high profile projects for national telecommunication carriers in this
area. He has been at the forefront of licensing content for commercial IPTV and PC download purposes,
and has significant expertise in the legal and technical issues associated with rights management.


Mr Sreeni Katta,

Sreeni has 16 years of experience in IT. He heads the IP Telephony services at the GM Holden headquarters in Melbourne and plans to extend the IPT services to other GM Holden sites. He is responsible for both data and voice services for GM Holden in Australia and New Zealand, and acts as SME for GM Holden’s telecommunications in Asia Pacific. Sreeni has worked for large IT service providers such as HP, IBM and AT&T.

Mr John Kranenburg,

John Kranenburg has served as SPAN's Chairman since September 2003. He is a member of the Australian Teleworking Advisory Committee, a member of the Eden Broadway Advisory Group and a Board member at radio station FM103.2. John was an Executive Director of Fujitsu Australia from 1995 until 2002. Immediately prior to this, he was the Managing Director of Nortel Australia. Executive positions held in Canada, prior to 1989, include several years as a General Manager in Nortel Canada and several years as a Vice President of Bell Communications Systems. John is a past member of both the ACIF (Australian Communications Industry Forum) Board and the Industry Advisory Board for CSIRO's ICT sector. He contributed to the Electronics Industry Action Agenda as a member of the Strategic Industry Leaders Group and as Chairman of its Research and Development Working Group.

Mr Carsten Larsen,

Jeff has spoken at several international conferences as keynote speaker on IT and performance management. He has been with Edith Cowan University for over six years following experience in the health, police and private sectors. Jeff is a member of the Executive of the Council of Australian University Librarians and is on the Council of Australian University Directors of IT Benchmarking Working Group.

Mr Dennis Muscat,

Dennis is a member of Pacific Internet’s Board of Directors. He joined the company in 1999 and was co-founder of the Australian operations. Dennis Muscat was appointed Managing Director 2001 and was previously Finance Director for the company. Since 2003, he has also been a Director on the Board of the Service Providers Industry Association, SPAN. demonstrations for live and remote customers all over the world.


James Sankar,

middleware and security. He joined AARNet in 2005 and project managed the development of AARNet’s
ENUM Registrar Services. James is a member of international working groups such as the eduroam

joining AARNet, James worked for UKERNA as Authentication and Authorisation Development Manager.


Mr James Sia,

James Sia has over fifteen years of experience in the telecommunications and computer industry. His background has primarily been in sales, product management and marketing for both the enterprise and service providers markets. Prior to joining Avaya, James had worked for companies like Lucent Technologies, Octel Communications, Apple Computer and Jebsen Jessen.

As a part of the Regional Product team, James is accountable for Avaya’s converged solutions, primarily focused on IP telephony & appliances, audio & video conferencing, peer-to-peer portfolios, and the next generation of Avaya’s products and services. In addition, James helps define key strategies on enterprise mobility that will allow Avaya to build on its success and continue to provide leading edge technologies for its customers around the Asia Pacific region.

He spent four years in various business development roles in Asia Pacific whilst at Telstra. In a career spanning 10 years and two continents, Mark Tatham-Thompson has diverse marketing and management experience across the IT and telecommunications sector.

After completing a BSc.(Hons) Product Design at Surrey University and MA Design, Strategy & Innovation at Brunel University, Mark worked in the United Kingdom and Europe. His roles included product management, marketing and business development within the vendor and operator arenas at Motorola and Dolphin Telecommunications. Mark immigrated to Australia in 1999, taking up a position in product marketing and business development with Ericsson Australia.

Since January 2002, Mark has headed up NEC Business Solutions’ product management and marketing teams, working to ensure the company’s products and solutions continue to evolve and meet customers’ changing business needs. One of Mark’s major focuses in this role has been the introduction of UNIVERGE, NEC’s pure IP solutions strategy and architecture, to the Australian market.

Mark is a member of the Advisory Board for the Marketing Department of Monash University.
