Mr Casper Hallas,
Portfolio Manager,
Scandium Invest (Copenhagen)

Casper was first exposed to the hedgefund industry in 1998 after leaving Copenhagen to join Neonet Securities AB in Stockholm as an institutional equity broker. At Neonet Securities AB he executed a variety of equity based hedging strategies for Swedish as well as overseas proprietary trading desks, hedgefunds and asset management companies.

It was at Neonet Securities, Casper gained an understanding of the dynamics of equity based, arbitrage type hedging techniques. Neonet’s multiple stockexchange memberships facilitated a variety of arbitrage opportunities such as those present when issuers choose dual listings (i.e. Nokia, Ericsson), basket trading, delta hedging and other basic arbitrage opportunities between the cash and derivatives/futures market.

Prior to joining Neonet, Casper worked as an institutional interest rate and currency broker at Nordea Markets, the trading division of Nordea Bank in Copenhagen. His primary responsibility was to advise corporate clients on risk management through the use of currency and interest rate products and their derivatives.

Subsequently, Casper went on the join Jiway Holdings Ltd., London. Jiway was the ambitious attempt by Morgan Stanley Dean Witter and OM Group to set up the first pan-European, fully integrated stock exchange. Casper was based in Stockholm and head of sales in Scandinavia. It was his task to explain the concept to the banks and brokers that would be using this new equities trading platform. As a result he has a detailed knowledge of trading, clearing and settlement processes, their complexities and the issues that arise when integrating systems across a number of markets and stock exchanges.

Since January, 2002 Casper has been managing a portfolio of hedgefunds on behalf of a select group of investors. This multi manager, multi strategy investment approach has performed well and it is intended to launch a similar onshore product when the pending hedgefund regulation is adopted in Denmark as of July 2005.

Casper was previously licensed to act as an equity broker with the Stockholm, Copenhagen, Helsinki, Oslo and Frankfurt stock exchanges.

Casper graduated with a BSc in Business Studies from University of Buckingham and an MBA from Boston University (Beta Gamma Sigma). He is fluent in Danish, Swedish and English.
