Graham leads the Capital Strategies team within CB Richard Ellis Financial, the FSA regulated arm of CB Richard Ellis. Graham works closely with the Corporate Strategies, Indirect Investment and Fund Management teams within CB Richard Ellis Financial and the Corporate Advisory Services team.

Graham is also part of CB Richard Ellis’s property derivatives desk which is operated in joint venture with GFI Group. Since its establishment in July 2005 the CB Richard Ellis/GFI joint venture has established a leading market position and has brokered a number of benchmark trades including the first sector trade and the first spread trade.

Prior to joining CB Richard Ellis, Graham spent nine years at The United Bank of Kuwait PLC holding roles including Head of Structured Property Finance, Head of Corporate Development & Strategic Planning and Head of Risk Management. During this time Graham gained experience in UK real estate and various other structured asset finance markets, mergers & acquisitions and capital markets transactions including bond issues and securitisations. Prior to joining UBK, Graham worked for five years at KPMG where he qualified as a Chartered Accountant.


Andrew Baum,

Andrew Baum is Principal and Chairman, Oxford Property Consultant (OPC) and Professor of Land Management at the University of Reading Business School. Andrew is a chartered surveyor and qualified investment professional.

Formerly a property research manager for Prudential Portfolio Manager, Managing Director of consulting company Real Estate Strategy and CIO (Property) and Director of International Property for Henderson Global Investors, he is a member of the supervisory board for the Schroder Exempt Property Unit Trust and a non-executive director of Grosvenor Ltd. He established OPC in 2001.


Alessandro Bronda,

Alessandro Bronda was recruited in April 2005 by Aberdeen Property Investors as Head of European Research and is based in Brussels. He is responsible for various European research activities including forecasting property returns across various sectors and city regions. Prior to joining Aberdeen, Alessandro was Head of European Research for the Catella Property Group. Before joining Catella he worked for Security Capital, a major American REIT, where he assisted in the investment decision-making process through research. Prior to taking up the position with Security Capital in 1998 he worked for Eurostat in Luxembourg and for the Ifo Institute for Economic Research in Munich. Alessandro holds a Masters Degree in Economics from the University of Munich and speaks four languages fluently.

Nick Cooper,

Nick Cooper is a Managing Director at ING Real Estate Investment Management (UK) and Head of Indirect Investment. Nick has over 25 years experience, advising pension funds on both direct and indirect investments and was responsible for establishing the Fund of Funds / Multi-Manager business. He chairs the indirect team’s investment committee and acts as both a fund manager and client liaison.

Nick is also the current chairman of the Association of Real Estate Funds.

Richard is a partner in the tax group and specialises in tax advice for real estate transactions. He advises on the tax aspects of establishing and dealing in real estate funds for investment in UK and international real estate. He has been following the proposals for a UK REIT and has submitted a response on behalf of his clients to the various consultation papers issued to help shape the final product. His team has also been involved with the successful lobbying for hotels to be included as an asset class. Through his work across Europe he is also familiar with similar regimes in other jurisdictions.

Laure has also worked for Lehman Brothers, the European Investment Bank and the International Finance Corporation, spending 17 years of her career in banking and venture capital, in the US, Latin America, and several European countries. Laure speaks five languages and is a graduate from CESA (University of Tours), IEP-Paris and SAIS-Johns Hopkins (Washington DC).

Christof Gaudig is the partner-in-charge of the Cologne office of Mayer, Brown, Rowe & Maw LLP. After working for another international law firm in London and Frankfurt, Christof joined Mayer, Brown, Rowe & Maw LLP in 1997. He is advising international and German clients in complex transactions. Among other matters, he advised US and UK investors on various portfolio transactions regarding German assets.

Dr Robin Goodchild,

Dr Goodchild is responsible for knowing where the property markets of Europe are headed and for formulating strategies for both clients’ portfolios and LaSalle Funds that will meet their varying investment objectives. He leads a specialist team of 10 persons that is responsible for the strategy for €13 billion of property assets.
Dr Goodchild is a chartered surveyor with over 30 years real estate experience. He has been involved with property investment since 1985 and specializes in devising practical portfolio strategies that deliver the required returns. He was particularly involved in LaSalle’s investments in the UK residential sector from 1999 and with developing practical ways in which the risk profile of property portfolios can be analyzed.
He joined LaSalle in 1997 as Research Director and is well known in European property circles as a speaker and market commentator.

Ian is an Investment Director and Head of Research in the property team. He also co-manages the SWIP European Real Estate Fund, a pan European OEIC which invests in real estate securities, including REITS.

He has responsibility for research and strategy issues in the UK and globally in the direct and indirect (including listed) property markets. Additional responsibilities include the development of fund strategy, bespoke market studies, portfolio modelling, risk analysis and research into new investment opportunities. He is a member of the property investment committee.

Before joining the group in 2001, Ian worked as an investment analyst for Foreign & Colonial and Property Market Analysis, a European property research house.

Ian holds a BSc (Hons) degree in agricultural economics from the University of Edinburgh and a postgraduate diploma in Land Economics from the University of Aberdeen. He qualified as a chartered surveyor in 1996. He has passed the CFA Level 1 examination and also holds the Investment Management Certificate.


Mr Jon Hodnett,

Jon joined JER in 1996 and has been based in the London office since 1999. He is responsible for acquisitions in Sweden, Central Europe and Russia. Jon is a member of the European Investment Committee.

Before moving to London, he was based in Asia where he represented JER in Thailand, South Korea and Japan. In Thailand he was the Managing Director of the JER Thailand Property Fund, a tax-exempt vehicle for the acquisition of real estate and loan portfolios. Prior to this assignment, Jon spent two years based in JER’s headquarters in McLean, Virginia where he focused on acquiring non-performing loan portfolios and real estate assets in the US and Canada.

Prior to joining JER, Jon was a Principal with Gateway Associates, Inc. where he was responsible for the acquisition and development of commercial and residential projects in the Washington D.C. area.

Jon is a graduate of Duke University with an MBA in Finance from the Fuqua School of Business. He received a BA in History from Colgate University.

Brian Lee is a Chartered Accountant who is Chief Executive of the UK fiduciary business of the Ogier Group. He is an FSA regulated individual and is a director on many Ogier client companies investing significant amounts in real estate and other asset classes, both in the UK and overseas. Prior to joining Ogier, Brian was Managing Director with Allied Irish Bank asset management business responsible for operations in the UK, USA, and Far East and also Chief Executive Officer of a Jersey based financial services company.

With some 500 people worldwide, Ogier is one of the largest and fastest growing offshore legal and fiduciary services firms. Corporate and finance law and associated fiduciary services form the core of the firm’s practice, principally in the areas of banking, corporate, investment funds, real estate investment, regulatory advice and structured finance.

Paul Marcuse,

Paul Marcuse took up his current position as Chief Executive of AXA Real Estate Investment Managers in March 2000, with the objective of building AXA REIM into a leading Pan-European real estate investment management business. Prior to joining AXA, Paul was Chief Financial Officer of Rodamco (UK) and, in this capacity, was heavily involved in the public listings of Rodamco (UK) and a major capital-raising programme. He was also responsible for Rodamco (UK)’s and Rodamco Continental Europe’s private equity activities.

His career prior to joining Rodamco was spent in investment banking, including 10 years in the Investment Banking Division of Goldman Sachs, 5 years at BZW as Managing Director of the Real Estate Advisory Group and, subsequently, Private Equity. Before joining Rodamco, he was Managing Director and Head of the European Real Estate Group at UBS.

Liz Peace has become a well known figure in the property industry in a little of over two years, since her appointment at the British Property Federation. She has used her experiences as a former civil servant and communications specialist to drive forward a number of key property industry campaigns, for example on REITs, which exemplifies her approach to lobbying – that the way to a Government’s heart is to say what you can do for it rather than what it can do for you.

Bryan Pickup is a partner and Head of the Real Estate Division. He acts on a wide range of commercial property transactions for institutional investors, tenants and developers. The range of advice includes funding and project development, corporate and asset acquisition, environmental issues, taxation and financing methods, leasing and disposals.

He also leads a team which frequently advises both operators and financial institutions on a variety of transactions including the sale and purchase of restaurants, hotels, visitor attractions, health and fitness centres and sports facilities. Recent instructions include negotiation of funding for major projects from bodies distributing National Lottery funds.


Jonathan Price,

Jonathan Price is Managing Director of Close Business Centre Capital, a division of Close Brothers Investment Limited (CBIL), part of the Close Brothers Group plc, the UK’s largest independent merchant banking group. At CBIL Jonathan’s role is to manage Close Property Investment’s business centre investment funds, which at the time of writing consist of a dozen buildings around the UK with a value approaching £50 million. Jonathan thinks he may be the only fund manager in the world to focus exclusively on the business centre sector.

Jonathan has been an investment banker since 1982 and has a wide experience of various types of financial work including privatisation, project finance, corporate finance and real estate finance. His involvement in the service office industry dates from 1999 when he returned from Asia having spent an enjoyable five years running a ‘boutique’ corporate finance company in Bangkok. He is Vice President of the UK chapter of FIABCI, The International Real Estate Federation.


Mr Iain Reid,

Iain is Chairman of the Property Derivatives Interest Group and CEO of Protego Real Estate Investors. Protego was founded in May 2004 and specialises in the creation and management of funds, direct and indirect property portfolios and synthetic instruments for all investor types. Iain is Chairman of the Investment Property Forum’s Property Investment Performance Committee and represents the IPF on the All Asset Class UK Investment Performance Committee.

In 2005, Protego won two Property Week awards – “Up and Coming Property Company of the Year” and “Innovation of the Year”, for its work in property derivatives.

During the 1990s, Iain devised the first exchange-traded property derivative in the UK, known as Property Index Certificates (PICs). Several issues have since taken place in collaboration with BZW / Barclays Capital with whom he also created and ran a market for two years in Property Index Forwards, an O.T.C. derivative.

The most recent issues of PICs, of £400m in value, took place in December 2004 and April 2005.

There are currently three issues of Property Index Certificates in the form of Eurobonds listed on the London Stock Exchange, maturing on 2006, 2007 and 2008.


Michael Rentrop,

Michael has over 10 years combined structured finance and valuation experience in the German real estate market in addition to 10 years in retail banking. He is the surveyor of the RBS Germany Real Estate Financing team where he is responsible for all activities concerning valuation and research.

Before joining RBS in 2005, Michael worked as a real estate financing analyst for one of the biggest saving banks in Germany and for a big German mortgage bank before he changed to be an appraiser at the mortgage bank.

He passed the postgraduate programme in real estate at the ebs-immobilienakademie in Oestrich-Winkel in 2003. He qualified as an accredited appraiser in 1999 and as a chartered surveyor in 2004.


David Ryland,

David was admitted in 1981 and became a partner at SJ Berwin in 1988. Throughout his career he has specialised in commercial property work with particular emphasis on property finance, investment, hotel transactions and urban regeneration. He has extensive experience of a wide range of property finance mechanisms and has been personally involved in the establishment of property funds for an aggregate value of nearly £7 billion. David is ranked in a series of publications as one of the leading lawyers in his area, regarded as "a pioneer in the development of new property vehicles" and frequently cited as one of the best legal minds in Chambers, Legal 500 and Euromoney.

Cameron F. Sawyer is President of GVA Sawyer, Moscow, since 1993. Mr. Sawyer received his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Michigan Law School in 1986 and obtained his Bachelor of Science degree, magna cum laude, from Vanderbilt University in 1982. Mr. Sawyer was a Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst Fellow on the Faculty of Law at Ludwigs-Maximillian-University of Munich, Germany, from 1984 through 1985. He was an attorney in the real estate department of Powell, Goldstein, Frazer & Murphy in Atlanta, U.S.A., from 1987 through 1991. He was Deputy General Director for Perestroika Joint Venture in Moscow as well as Director of Leasing & Marketing. Mr. Sawyer speaks German and Russian in addition to his native English.

Christian Schulte Eistrup is Head of European Investment Strategy/Research for Morgan Stanley Real Estate. He is responsible for the formulation of market views and strategies for the Firm's real estate funds and investing clients. Christian joined Morgan Stanley in London in 1998, and led and executed a broad range of cross-border private and public equity financings and M&A assignments prior to assuming his current responsibilities. He retains an active role in the development and placement of real estate private equity funds. Previously, Christian worked in the financial institutions consulting practice of KPMG Germany and as a commercial banker. He received a BSFS in International Economics from the Georgetown University School of Foreign Service and an MBA in Finance from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. Christian is a member of the INREV (European Association for Investors in Non-listed Real Estate Vehicles) Fee Working Group.
