CPD Credits

The PMI Continuing Professional Development Scheme

The Pensions Management Institute (PMI), introduced a Continuing Professional Development Scheme in 1993 for all its qualified Members. They are expected to attend at least 15 hours a year of updating courses, in addition to 25 hours of individual study. Attendance can be at any Conferences, Seminars, in-house training events or other external courses, and can cover both general and retirement benefit related topics.

Members submit a record sheet each year.   In previous years, the course details supplied by members were checked against the course information provided by Course Providers.  As from 2006, we are moving from a system of accreditation of individual courses to one where we accredit the companies or organisations providing the courses.  Course Providers will therefore no longer need to send course details or delegate lists to us.

Why is CPD important?

Learning does not stop once a professional qualification is attained. Legislation and work practices are constantly changing, and professional knowledge levels need to be enhanced and broadened, in order for practitioners to continue to be effective.

Having a formalised CPD Scheme provides structured learning and gives recognition that Members are maintaining and increasing the professional knowledge that they gained through the exam process.

Accreditation

Course Providers need to be accredited in order that members can claim CPD for courses run by that organisation.  Terrapinn has just received the accrredited status from the Pensions Management Institute enabling members to obtain CPD credits for attending Terrapinn financial events.

If you have any questions regarding CPD credits please call Amy Johnson on +44 20 7837 5940 or email:amy.johnson@terrapinn.com
