About the masterclass leaders

Frances Woo is the Managing Partner of the Hong Kong office and head of the Local Corporate and Commercial Practice Group. She practices a full range of corporate/commercial law particularly specialising in mergers and acquisitions, advising on public and private offerings of debt and equity, restructurings, structured and other finance matters and funds work (mutual funds, unit trusts, limited partnerships, private equity).

 

Prior to joining the group in 1994, Frances practiced corporate commercial law in Toronto, Canada. She became a partner of Appleby Spurling Hunter in 1997 and managing partner of the Hong Kong office in 2000.

 

Frances holds a B.Sc. Honours Degree from the University of Toronto graduating in 1987 with distinction. She went on to study law at Osgoode Hall Law School, York University obtaining a LL.B. degree in 1991. Frances is a barrister and solicitor in Canada, a solicitor in England and Wales (now non-practising), Hong Kong and in the British Virgin Islands and is registered with the Bermuda Bar.

Judy Lee is Counsel to the firm within the Corporate and Commercial Practice Group. Judy practices corporate and commercial law specialising in corporate finance relating to offshore entities. Her practice includes advising on public and private offerings of debt and equity, mergers and acquisitions, restructuring, banking and finance as well as other corporate and commercial matters. Clients include numerous Bermuda and Cayman Islands companies, many of which are listed on The Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Limited, the Singapore Exchange Securities Trading Limited, Nasdaq, the New York Stock Exchange and the London Stock Exchange.

Judy was trained in London, England and was admitted as a solicitor of the Supreme Court of England & Wales in 1992 (now non-practising). Having been admitted as a solicitor in Hong Kong in 1993 (now non-practising), she practised corporate and commercial law in Hong Kong before joining Appleby Spurling Hunter in 2000. She is registered with the Bermuda Bar and is a member of the Inter-Pacific Bar Association, the Asia Offshore Association as well as the Law Societies of England & Wales and Hong Kong. She is also fluent in English, Cantonese and Putonghua.
