Mr Chris Badenhorst, Director, Business Development and Account Management, Vopak Asia
Chris Badenhorst joined Vopak Asia Pte Ltd in 2003 as Director: Business Development and Account Management and as a member of the Vopak Asia management team in Singapore. In this role Chris is leading Vopak’s business development and commercial activities in Asia, both for greenfield projects as well as acquisitions. He is also responsible for Vopak’s Account Management program in Asia.
Chris first joined Vopak in 2001 as Vice President in the Corporate Strategy and Development group responsible for developing Vopak’s integrated supply chain offerings. Following Vopak’s strategic decision to divest the Chemical Distribution part of the business, now Univar, Chris assumed a commercial responsibility within the European chemical logistics business. In addition to his commercial responsibility, he was also responsible for Vopak’s supply chain (flow) design group and for the development and implementation of Vopak’s e-business strategy.
Prior to joining Vopak Chris held various positions in operations, commercial and logistics with a leading petrochemical company. He holds a Bachelor (honours) degree in Chemical Engineering and a Masters Degree in Commerce (Business Management).

CHANDAN KUMAR BHATTACHARJEE, presently Vice-President & Country Segment Head, CIBA Specialty Chemicals (India) Ltd. CIBA is one of the largest Multinational Specialty Chemicals Company based in Basel, Switzerland.
The major responsibilities being profitable sales growth, making business strategies, aligning sales & production network, leading people and their development, building corporate image.
Is a B.Tech. In Polymer Science & Technology and B.Sc. Honors in Chemistry, University of Calcutta. Has undergone extensive training in different aspects of Management at Singapore, Bangkok & IMD Lausanne in Switzerland. Widely traveled abroad to over 22 countries. Has 30 years business experience in India.
Have worked in various functions in Sales & Marketing, Technical Services & Application development, Sourcing & Exports, Acquisition & Joint ventures. In 1996, was appointed the Managing Director on the board of a Ciba Indian Joint venture Company where the entire team of professions was set-up prior to business start-up.
Is very active in Industry Circles. Presently a member of the Executive Committee in the Apex body of the Indian Chemical Manufacturers’ Association. Has also been in the admission faculty of a prestigious Management Institute in Bombay for aspiring MBA students. Often invited to deliver lectures in colleges & Universities on mergers, Acquisition & Joint Ventures.

Mr Arnie Bornstein, Director - Marketing & Corporate Communications, BDP International
Arnie Bornstein has been the director of marketing & corporate communications for BDP International since 1997. He has spent most of his career in service industries, most notably in transportation and logistics.
Prior to joining BDP, he was a director at a Class I US railroad, Conrail, in the corporation’s Public Affairs Department for 11 years. While his principle duties focused on marketing communications, Arnie was also involved with strategic and tactical initiatives in support of Crisis Management, Total Quality Management and Safety. Earlier in his career, he was associated with the energy industry in several public relations practices.
Arnie has been president of both the Association of Railroad Advertising & Marketing and the Transportation Marketing & Communications Association, and is a member of the Business Marketing Association. He is a graduate of Rowan University in Glassboro, New Jersey.
At BDP International, he is responsible for global public relations and marketing strategies, working closely with the company’s president, senior management team, and internal and external constituents, to build understanding of relevant industry and service issues. He has been a strong advocate of the proactive use of communications in support of reputation management and financial performance.

Michael Crothers is a Chemical Engineer hailing from Calgary, Alberta in the wild west of Canada. Of his 21+ years of experience, 18 are with Shell. Some 2/3 of his career has been in operations roles in manufacturing. The balance has been in strategy, portfolio and business development. He spent six years helping to launch the oil sands business in Shell, including General Manager, Scotford Upgrader. Working in London since May 2004, he is currently the General Manager of Global Supply and Logistics for Shell Chemicals. He has been married for 19 years and has three children.

Peter Mackay is managing editor of Hazardous Cargo Bulletin (HCB), a monthly magazine covering the transport, storage and handling of dangerous goods. He has been with the magazine for eleven years, for the last six as editor. HCB is now in its 26th year of publication and has built up a considerable reputation as the leading worldwide publication in its field. HCB plays a particularly useful role for the industry through its coverage of regulatory developments and the safety aspects of the transport of dangerous goods.
Prior to HCB, Peter spent three years with Drewry Shipping Consultants in London, specialising in analysis and consultancy in the gas tanker and chemical carrier sectors. He has also worked for oil consultancy Petroleum Economics Ltd (PEL) and as a freelance analyst in industrial markets.

Mr Winifred Mijares, Regional Supply Chain Manager, Rohm & Haas (Phils) Inc
Fred Mijares is a seasoned logistics person who has extensive logistics experience especially in the area of shipping for the past 20 years.
Is currently the Asia Pacific regional logistics manager for Rohm and Haas, Inc. In his current capacity, he is both accountable and responsible for the development and implementation or execution of both the strategic and daily logistics processes and programs of the company within the Asia Pacific Region.
Key responsibilities in his role include development of various cost down (or savings) opportunities for logistics across the region and efficient management of the APR logistics network to ensure timely and efficient response to all customer requests.
Previous to Rohm and Haas, Fred has worked for more than 10 years as Customer Support Manager for a major multinational shipping company in the Philippines where he has provided extensive after sales support to customers in the area of Customer Service and Documentation.
Fred is a graduate of the De La Salle University, majoring in Business Management.

Ms Zhao Wei, Environmental Affairs Officer, UNEP DTIE
Wei ZHAO currently works as Environmental Affairs Officer at the Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific of United Nations Environment Programme. Her main areas of work include environmental management of industrial activities, ecosystem based business development approaches, circular economy and sustainable consumption and production patterns.
Prior to the current position, Wei ZHAO worked at the Production and Consumption Branch of Division of Technology, Industry and Economics of UNEP. Her main responsibility was to manage activities in environmental management of industrial estates, eco-industrial development, and sustainable food production and consumption.
Before joining UN, Wei ZHAO worked in technical consultant firms and Chinese central government. Her experiences include management of public found and projects for technology development, governmental institute reform, technology transfer and implementation of Montreal Protocol.
She had her university degree in polymer processing in Beijing Institute of Chemical Industry. She then furthered her training at the Industrial Material Institute of Canadian National Research Council on composite materials. She also conducted a research on technology management during her stay in Canada. In 1992, she was selected by an international training and networking programme, Leadership for Environment and Development initiated by the Rockefeller Foundation. Upon graduation from the LEAD training programme in 1994, she has become a fellow of LEAD and joint the network of multi-discipline professionals from over 30 countries.
Wei ZHAO took an UN sabbatical programme in 2001 and conducted a research at Imperial College of Science, Technology and Medicine in London on innovative industrial initiatives on environmental management.

Mr Martin Whittle, General Manager, Chemical Distribution Institute (CDI)
Martin Whittle is a seaman of 21 years, with 8 years as Master in Command. Leaving the position as Managing Director of a ship management company, Martin crossed over the fence from chemical carrier to chemical shipper in 1999. He is now the General Manager of the Chemical Distribution Institute, a position he has held since the June of 2000.

Dr Lily Xie, Head of Asia Pacific Regional Supply Chain, Process Chemicals, Rohm and Haas Company
As the regional Supply Chain Manager, Lily is responsible for regional supply planning, toll supply management, warehouse and inventory management, and export process, as well as leading an international, cross-functional team for improving maritime shipments.
Lily started her career with Rohm and Haas in 1991 as a Senior Scientist, at the Research and Development Center in Philadelphia area. After completing a few successful projects in new product development, she relocated to Beijing, China, for setting up and managing a technical center of Polymers and Resins, the largest business unit. One year later, Lily was named as Business Development Manager for China, and then Area Business Manager for Greater China (Hong Kong, Taiwan and China).
In 1997, Lily became a Project Manager of implementing MRPII (Manufacturing Resource Planning) for Performance Polymers, later, the Business Lead of ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning), as well as Asia Pacific Region Supply Chain Manager, for Process Chemicals. The scope of supply management covers 4 Rohm and Haas manufacturing plants and 8 toll producers in Japan, China, and India, as well as multiple warehouses in the region.
Lily received her B.S. from Beijing Univeristy, and PhD in Chemistry from Brigham Young University. She also holds a certificate from The Wharton School of Business, University of Pennsylvania, after a two year Wharton Management Program.

Dr James Yuann, President, Specialty Materials, Honeywell Specialty Materials Asia-Pacific
Dr. James K. Yuann is the President of Asia, Specialty Materials of Honeywell International. James is responsible for leading the overall operations and business development in Asia for Honeywell Specialty Materials whose revenue is around $350M in the electronics materials, chemicals and performance products areas.
Prior to Honeywell, James was the General Manager of Asia in PolyOne Corporation, the world largest polymer service company from 1995 to 2004. During his tenure, PolyOne Asia revenues were increased from US$2M import sales with one man band to $100M with 400+ associates in four manufacturing plants located in China, Singapore and Thailand.
Throughout James’ career, he has covered engineering, project management, marketing and sales, technology licensing and general management in Monsanto Co, Standard Oil Company and BP. In 1984, James started his business with China by first marketing and selling catalyst and subsequently licensed five petrochemical plants to the China petrochemical industries. In 1989, he was expatriated to Hong Kong by BP and has been working in Asia since then.
China, Shanghai is current the home for James and his wife, Natalie while their two children are in the States. James was honored with Mogonolia Award by the Shanghai Mayor in 2000 as one of the best performed foreign enterprises. James holds a D.Sc. Degree in Chemical Engineering from Washington University at St. Louis, Missouri, a M.S. degree in Polymer Science from University of Cincinnati, Ohio and a B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering from National Taiwan University.
