Mr Ray Adams,

Ray Adams joined SAP AG in 2005 as a Field Services Manager for the Industry Business Unit (IBU) Chemicals. Ray has over 17 years of chemical industry experience and started his career in Polymers research. His management experience spans technical services, manufacturing, operations and supply chain. He has implemented ISO-9000, MRPII Class A, S&OP and ERP systems for multiple businesses including polymers, electronic chemicals and plastics additives.
In 2001, he led the order-to-cash, supply/demand planning and procurement teams during the pilot implementation of SAP at Rohm and Haas, Company as the Supply Chain Manager. He completed a working capital reduction project in the Business Process Excellence Center as a Six Sigma Green Belt. Ray holds a BS degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of New Hampshire and an MBA degree from Santa Clara University.
Currently Ray is supporting the chemical industry and SAP on collaborative and adaptive business networks for manufacturing, supply chain and transportation initiatives.

Dangerous Goods expert at United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UN-ESCAP) in 1996. Undertook a survey of inland transport (road, rail and inland water transport) of dangerous goods in the following selected countries of the region, Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam to review:
i) risk analysis procedures and methodologies;
ii) contingency plans and dangerous cargo response information;
iii) demand for training and human resources development;
iv) availability of training materials relating to the transport and handling of dangerous goods;
v) the training capacity of each country and the present delivery of training to transport operators.

Provided preliminary advisory services in the form of an introductory one day workshop in each country as an integral element of the survey.
Produced a preliminary report on the findings from the survey with recommendations to governments for future action to improve the movement of dangerous goods in the region.

Alan is the Chairman of LCP Consulting which he founded in 1985. LCP is now recognised as one of the leading supply chain management and logistics consultancies with offices and partners around the world; the firm supports major organisations in the retail, manufacturing, chemicals, service and public sectors.
Alan has been a member of the steering committee and a contributor and authority in the EPCA (European Petrochemicals Association) and CEFIC (European Chemical Industry Council) initiative, to provide a supply chain vision and themes for action for the chemical industry’s supply chain.
Alan is a thought leader in the business implications of supply chain management, and is active in working with the senior teams of major organisations to develop practical and innovative strategies and to realise their benefits through change programmes.
He is a regular lecturer at both the Cranfield School of Management, where he works closely with Professor Martin Christopher, and at Management Centre Europe and the Vlerick School in Belgium. He also teaches and speaks at conferences around the world and regularly publishes in academic and professional journals.


Mr William J Cantwell,

William J. Cantwell joined Air Products and Chemicals, Inc. in 1979 as a salesman for the company's Polymer Chemicals Division. He subsequently held various sales and marketing management positions within the Division, including marketing manager of emulsions, general sales manager and manager of the diversified products business area. He was named general manager of the Division in 1992, and vice president and general manager in 1996. In 1999 Cantwell was appointed vice president and general manager, business divisions for the company's Chemicals Group.

In 2001 Cantwell moved into a corporate function with responsibility for the Program Management Office, where he focused his efforts on rapidly driving the Company's four strategic initiatives: portfolio management, growth, work process and change. In 2002 he was named vice president, Process Management, with responsibility for creating global work processes that were being supported by an SAP implementation. Cantwell assumed his current position in July 2003 in which he is responsible for prioritizing the integration of these global processes into supply chains that will improve Air Products' efficiency and effectiveness, allowing the company to deliver greater value to its customers and shareholders.

Cantwell was born in 1951 in Bryn Mawr, Pa. He received a bachelor of science degree from Villanova University in 1972 and a master's degree in business administration from Drexel University in 1979. In 1993 Cantwell completed the Advanced Management Program at the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School. He also served seven years in the U.S. Navy.


Mr Pete Cox,

Pete Cox started his career as an Electrical Engineer in 1989 at the Thorn EMI Lighting manufacturing site in Leicester, England. After completing his apprenticeship & associated college he was promoted through various roles in plant maintenance & when GE (USA) bought the business he moved from Engineering to Production Supervisor & finally into the Quality Department as Process Improvement Leader for the site. In 1996 GE introduced the Six Sigma initiative to all business units. After training Pete spent the next 3 years working as a full time Black Belt working on various manufacturing & commercial projects working from Sourcing to Customer across the supply chain processes.

In 1998 Pete transferred to GE’s Plastics division HQ in the Netherlands as a Supply Chain Black Belt. Working on inventory management processes & metrics for the Polymerland division before moving to the e-Business team to develop the online order centre. As part of this position he was a key member of the team that implemented a new Order Management system for GE Plastics in Europe. Later as Supply Chain Process Improvement Manager lead the complete system standardisation of all GE Plastics Europe businesses & locations using the Six Sigma DFSS methodology. In this roll he also managed all Supply Chain systems changes coordinating the functions & IT resources also responsible for Master Data.

In 2001 moved to GE Specialty Chemicals as European Supply Chain Manager, this division was divested to Crompton Corporation USA in 2002. At Crompton Pete has held rolls in the supply chain as Customer Service manager North West Europe & now as Master Black Belt covering the OTR processes & associated commercial processes. Pete is also responsible for the rollout of the LEAN improvement methods introduced this year at Crompton to compliment there ongoing Six Sigma initiative.


Mr Mathias Dollak,

Mathias is a senior manager with 13 years experience in Logistics and Supply Chain Management within the Chemical and FMCG sector, with consultancy, in house and third party management experience, at both strategic and operational levels.

Mathias started his current role as European Logistics Director for Sun Chemical beginning of this year. In this newly created role Mathias started to build an integrated European Supply Chain organisation. In parallel he developed a global Supply Chain strategy for Sun Chemical which is currently implemented.

Before starting with Sun Chemical Mathias was in charge of Supply Chain strategy for Wella AG, one of the worlds leading hair care companies.
In his role as Head of Supply Chain strategy he developed and implemented the global Wella Logistics and Manufacturing strategy. Including the definition of the world wide plant and warehouse infrastructure as well as the European Logistics strategy which streamlined the Western European Logistics infrastructure from 13 DC to 4 DC including a cross country direct customer delivery. In addition Mathias was responsible for the selection and contract management of all “contract Logistics” service providers (warehousing) as well as the purchasing and contract management of transports (road, sea & air).

After graduating from university Mathias started his professional carrier at an international business consultancy as a Project manager in various Supply Chain Management projects in the CPG, press & media and chemical industry.

Luc Haesaerts is CEO of Haesaerts Intermodal NV based in Breendonk, Belgium. Haesaerts Intermodal specialises in transporting gases and liquids for the chemical industry in tanks. Mr. Haesaerts is Chairman of ECTA (European Chemical transport Association) and is a member of the FEBETRA ADR and CTC commissions. Mr. Haesaerts has been active in the inter modal transportation of dangerous goods in the chemical industry since 1974.

Before becoming CEO of Chemion Logistik GmbH, Andreas Hardt (b. 1960), was at Bayer Industry Services GmbH & Co. OHG, where his last post was in energy services. There he was the head of the business segment gases, water, pipelines, and pipe bridges. Other previous assignments include logistics consulting at Bayer with a focus on Supply Chain Development. Before joining the Bayer AG in 1990, Hardt worked at the German Army for 12 years, where he also held senior positions in the area of logistics.

Uwe Heins from Hamburg/Germany is exactly as old as the German trade publication for dangerous goods transport, handling and storage for which he is the Chief Editor – 50 years (both appearing much younger).

His educational background is in chemical and automotive industry. He joined Publishers Storck Verlag, Hamburg, in 1983 and has since focused the content on all modes of transport, covering their interface links just as much as logistical tasks, legal issues and environmental questions.

Frank Hils holds a Diploma Degree in Business Administration and Engineering from the Fachhochschule Karlsruhe, Germany.

In 1991 he joined Endress+Hauser in product management for systems, components and digital communication technology. He then served in different management positions and headed product marketing, services and R&D of different business units. Today Mr. Hils is Director Solution Business with world wide responsibility for sales and marketing of Process and Inventory Control Solutions. He is member of the Endress+Hauser corporate management in Switzerland.

Peter Mackay is managing editor of Hazardous Cargo Bulletin (HCB), a monthly magazine covering the transport, storage and handling of dangerous goods. He has been with the magazine for ten years, for the last six as editor. HCB is now in its 25th year of publication and has built up a considerable reputation as the leading worldwide publication in its field. HCB plays a particularly useful role for the industry through its coverage of regulatory developments and the safety aspects of the transport of dangerous goods.
Prior to HCB, Peter spent three years with Drewry Shipping Consultants in London, specialising in analysis and consultancy in the gas tanker and chemical carrier sectors. He has also worked for oil consultancy Petroleum Economics Ltd (PEL) and as a freelance analyst in industrial markets.


Mr Godefroy Motte,

Godefroy A. Motte is president for Eastman’s Europe, Middle East and Africa region.
He was previously vice-president, Operations for the region, a position he held since 1999. He was appointed president in May 2001.

Godefroy Motte was born in Lille, France in 1958. He graduated from the school of “Hautes Etudes Industrielles” in Lille, France in 1981 as a chemical Engineer. He obtained also a management Masters degree (DESS) at the “Institut d’Administration des Entreprises” in Sorbonne, Paris. Prior to joining Eastman, Mr Motte worked for Valeo in Paris, France.

Mr Motte joined Eastman in 1985 as a technical marketing representative for chemicals and plastics in France. Later he was holding positions in product management, market and business management in Kingsport, Tennessee. In 1993, he returned to the Netherlands and was named regional business manager.

In 1996, he went to San Roque, Spain to build and to start (97) a new plant for PET and was named managing director in January 1998.

In December 1999, he was named vice-president, Operations and relocated to the Hague, the Netherlands. While in that position, Mr Motte was involved in major initiatives to grow the business in the European region through acquisitions (Sokolov, Mc Whorter and the resins division of Hercules).

Mr Motte is on the Board of the American Chamber of Commerce in The Netherlands and he is a member of the European Chemical Association (CEFIC), the Society of Chemical Industry (SCI) and the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE).

Mr Gustavo Vallazza,

Gustavo Vallazza is the global manager, eBusiness Process and Technology for the Dow Chemical Company. In this role, Gustavo is responsible for establishing Dow's e-Business architecture globally, as well as managing the lifecycle of I/T assets involved in e-Business. He is also part of the team responsible for development of e-Business strategy and accountable for execution.
While working as the Information Systems Manager for the global Styrenics and Engineered Products business group, he has been involved in the early stages of eBusiness at Dow Chemical, in areas such as Omnexus, Elemica, My Account at Dow and Customer Relationship Management. His eight year career at Dow includes several leadership positions in the Information Systems area, both in Latin America and the US.
Prior to joining Dow, he served for five years as a Systems Division Chief of Central Puerto, based in Buenos Aires, where he had the lead position in the Information Technology area. He has extensive experience integrating systems resulting from mergers and acquisitions. He also worked for nine years with Zurich Financial Services.
Vallazza is a graduate of the Universidad Tecnologica Nacional in Argentina and he attended Executive Education at Darden Graduate School of Business Administration.


Mr Geert-Jan van der Wielen,

Geert-Jan van der Wielen has been with Vopak Logistic Services since1-1-2005 and is P&L responsible for the VLS Pernis organisation, whose core activities are the drumming, and warehousing of hazardous chemicals. Before that time, he was working for 4 years at Israel Chemicals as European Supply Chain Manager.

VLSP has 25.000m2 of chemical storage, 8.000 of parking for containers, an own rail connection and 2 drumming operations. By adding a barge terminal to these activities, a tri-modal site will be created, and logistic advantages for customers will be obtained.

Geert-Jan van der Wielen has a university degree in Mechanical Engineering (TU Eindhoven) and Business (Nijenrode).


Mr Ronald van Klaveren,

He graduated in Marketing in 1986. He did his MBA at the Rotterdam School of Management and graduated from this in 2001.

Ronald joined Lyondell Arco in Logistics in 1989, and he moved to Sales, as Key Account Manager, Benelux two years later in late 1991. He was in this position for 6 years and in 1997 became Marketing Manager - Europe, Middle East and Africa. He became Business Manager in 2000 and has been in his current role of European Procurement Director for Materials and Services Supply since November 2003.


Mr Gerrit van Tongeren,

Gerrit van Tongeren studied transport and port economics at Rotterdam. His professional career started at the municipality of The Hague and led via the province of south-Holland to the DCMR Environmental Protection Agency where he became director in 1995. In this position he became well acquainted with the chemical cluster in the Port of Rotterdam. Since April 2005 he is the Chief Commercial Officer of the Port of Rotterdam."

Mr Jos Verlinden,

Jos qualified as a Chemical Engineer at the University of Leuven (Belgium) in 1977 and obtained a PhD in 1982.

After five years in research at the Leuven University, he started to work for the Belgian Federation of Chemical Industries as an Advisor for Distribution Safety, Product Safety and Occupational Hygiene.

In 1989 he joined ICI as Distribution Manager of ICI Belgium. In 1993 he was appointed as the ICI Corporate Distribution Safety Manager responsible for regulatory compliance, emergency response, safety auditing and safety training for ICI’s logistic operations.

In May 2000 he moved to Cefic as the new SQAS Manager and recently became Head of the Cefic Logistics Department. His main responsibilities are:

Mr Mark Warner,

Mark Warner is a European, born in London, who started his logistics career some 20 years ago within an international company specialized in packed logistics based in London.

Thereafter, he joined a Dutch headquartered logistics company, based initially in Belgium and thereafter in a number of West European countries assuming responsibility for the General Management of each of these locations involving initial opening, re-
organising and process re-engineering.

Eventually co-starting an international company specialized in bulk liquid logistics and supply chain management in The Netherlands. This company is now part of Den Hartogh Logistics.

Within Den Hartogh Logistics, he is responsible for corporate Information & Communication Technology and leads the various strategic teams. In addition he is responsible for the Strategic Business Unit, “Logistics Management”. A major task is establishing co-makerships with strategic corporate customers.
