Mr Jon Andreasson,

Prior to joining the Australasian Chapter of ATMIA as Executive Director in February, 2004, Jon had established a successful security and risk management consultancy specialising in financial institutions, with offices in five Australian states and New Zealand. The Asia Pacific chapter represents and supports the region that includes Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia and the South Pacific. The Asia chapter represents the Indian Sub-continent, Japan, Korea, Taiwan and China. Jon’s background includes working for security industry organisations, many of Australia’s largest financial institutions and cash in transit organisations where he developed experience in security assessment, design, fraud control and risk management. This career culminated with a two and a half year engagement with the National Australia Bank as their Security & Risk Manager, NSW/ACT. At the National he gained further experience in risk management strategies whilst responsible for the banks extensive corporate real estate, branch and ATM networks. Jon currently lectures on fraud control and security studies in relation to risk management, law and occupational health & safety for both TAFE Blacktown and for the CPP students of the NSW Chapter of ASIS. He has previously served with Australia’s leading national security body, ASIAL on the National Training Competency Board to help steer the security industry to increase training and professional certification. Jon is a regular speaker at industry forums and has produced many articles that have been published extensively throughout the region in various security and financial institution magazines. Jon is a ‘Certified Protection Professional’ (CPP). This qualification is board certified and recognized throughout the world as the security profession's highest recognition for practitioners. Jon brings to the industry over 20 years experience as a security consultant working in the financial institution and local government sectors.

As president of the mobile commerce division of First Data International, Nandita Bakhshi is responsible to drive the development of the mobile payments sector for First Data. Bakhshi joins First Data from U.S. financial services firm, FleetBoston, and will head up First Data’s key mobile payments subsidiaries, Eposs and Encorus. In her previous role as director of the Deposit and Payment Product Group for FleetBoston Financial, Bakhshi managed consumer deposits and payments. Baskhshi also served as the Director of Alternative Delivery at Home Savings of America. Where she was responsible for the strategic planning and development of electronic distribution channels including Automatic Teller Machines (ATMs), consumer cards, Express Banking and Bank-by-Phone. Before joining Home Savings of America, Baskhshi served for seven years with Bank One Corporation in a variety of positions, including marketing director, product/segment manager and sales manager for the retail group. Bakhshi holds a Master’s Degree in International Relations from the University of Calcutta, India, and a Bachelor’s Degree in History from the University of Calcutta.

Rick Beasley is currently Operations Manager, National Livestock Identification Scheme. He has been working with Meat and Livestock Australia on this program for the last five years. During this time, the NLIS has been developed from a concept to a fully operational scheme with over 40 million devices recorded.

Rick grew up on a cattle property on the Western Darling Downs of Queensland and started work with the Qld Dept of Primary Industries in beef cattle research and extension in Central and North Qld.

He realised that the marketing of cattle was central to greater productivity and returns and moved to the Qld. Livestock and Meat Authority where the first systems of trading cattle on specifications were developed.

After 10 years in developing cattle marketing systems, he moved to a position of Livestock Operations Manager with a large export meatworks. This position was responsible for the purchasing of 1 000 cattle a day and matching the production to sales and marketing.

During his time in this position, he realised that product integrity was becoming a more important part of the supply chain. After leaving the meatworks position, he joined MLA to develop and implement the NLIS program.

The NLIS is now recognised as world’s best identification, traceability and product integrity system.

Peter Cole obtained the degrees of B.Sc. B.E. and Ph.D. at the University of Sydney, following which he was engaged in three years post doctoral study at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He has interests in radio frequency identification, electromagnetic engineering, microcircuit design, and signal processing. He has taught at the Universities of Adelaide and Sydney, and is now Professor of Radio Frequency Identification Systems in the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at The University of Adelaide. He was a founder and was from 1984 to 1999 the Chairman of Directors of Integrated Silicon Design Pty. Ltd., a South Australian Company specialising in Radio Frequency Identification Systems. In 2002 he was invited to join the Auto-ID Center established by MIT, and is now Director of the Auto-ID Laboratory at Adelaide, one of seven Auto-ID research laboratories throughout the word supported by MIT and EPCglobal.

Bruce Cox served in the NSW Police Force for 17 year’s 15 of which as a Detective. During this time Bruce was a member of various law enforcement agencies including the State Investigations Group, State Intelligence Group, Special Branch, The Royal Commission into the Building Industry and its subsequent Taskforce, the Fraud Enforcement Agency and Commercial Crime Agency now known as the Fraud Squad. In 1998 Bruce was recruited by American Express International Inc. to undertake the role of Regional Director of Corporate Security for Asia / Pacific / Australia. In this role Bruce has been responsible for the direction of all criminal matters impacting American Express. Bruce currently holds the position of Asia Pacific Regional Head of Security Services and Investigations for American Express in this role he also has overall responsibility for all Security and Investigations issues impacting AMEX in the Australia Asia South Pacific Region. During his time at American Express Bruce has overseen many changes within his area such as the introduction of Cyber Forensic investigative techniques and methodologies. Bruce is a graduate of Melbourne University in Electronic Crimes Investigation and is part of a select group within American Express who advise on electronic crimes globally. Bruce is a past President of the NSW Chapter of the International Association of Financial Crimes Investigators (IAFCI), founding President of the Asia Pacific Chapter and the current 2nd International Vice President of the global organisation. Bruce has previously presented papers and provided training to the “Conference of Commissioners of Police for Australia Asia and South West Pacific Region”, Law Enforcement Agencies throughout the United States of America, Asia, and Pacific countries. He also the AMEX representative on the Australian Banker Association (ABA) Task Force, the Australian Risk Committee and numerous other financial crimes working parties.

John E. Davies is vice president of the Sales and Marketing Group and director of the Solutions Market Development Group for Intel Corporation. Davies is focused on delivering enterprise business solutions based upon Intel architecture to the market.
Davies has worked for Intel since 1978, when he joined the company as the Reliability/QA Manager in Intel's Magnetics Division. During his 25 years with Intel, Davies has worked in engineering and manufacturing, as marketing manager for automotive products in Europe, and marketing manager for strategic accounts. Previously, he was director of Marketing for the Mobile Computing Group, and vice president and marketing director for the Consumer Desktop Products group. Most recently, John was vice president and general manager of Intel Asia Pacific Region where he was based in Hong Kong, and then vice president, e-Business Marketing.
Prior to joining Intel, Davies worked as a postdoctoral research fellow at IBM in the United States and as a development engineer at Philips in the United Kingdom.
Davies was born in London, England, in 1950 and received his B.S. in Chemistry and his Ph.D. in Solid State Physics from Imperial College, London University.
Intel has awarded Davies two prestigious Individual Achievement Awards for establishing Intel in the European automotive market in 1986, and for driving Intel's mobile computing architecture into the Japanese market in 1992.
John has a diverse background, and an extensive knowledge of business issues as well as advanced technology.

Adrian Lovney joined Cuscal Public Affairs in September 1999 when he moved to Sydney from Brisbane. He

competitive, and successful providers of financial services. The IA delivers a comprehensive range of

Skander Malcolm holds a Bachelor of Economics from The University of Sydney. Upon graduation, Skander joined Household International (HI) in the UK (HFC). HI (since acquired by HSBC) was a major consumer finance organisation with over USD35billion in assets, headquartered in the US and with operations across 4 countries. Skander held a number of roles in HFC across the branch, direct, and credit card businesses. After 11 years in the UK and US, Skander relocated to Australia in October 2000, joining Westpac Banking Corporation as Senior Manager, Card Products. He worked for 2 1/2 years for Westpac, and during that time was heavily involved in the launch of Altitude and Virgin products for Westpac, as well as supporting the Amex card value proposition development. In June 2003 Skander joined GE Money Australia and New Zealand as Client Director, MasterCard. GE Money is a major provider of consumer finance in Australia and New Zealand, with over AUD30billion in assets across a range of products. Skander was appointed to his current role as Managing Director, Card Solutions, GE Money Australia and New Zealand in May 2004. This business, in association with Coles Myer, has recently launched the Coles Myer Source MasterCard, which has generated the largest amount of new cards in the Australian market in its first 12 months.

Bruce Mansfield has been with Visa International for 12 years. In January 2004 he took up his current
role of General Manager of Visa Australia & New Zealand, which has overall responsibility for Visa’s
operations in both countries.

Prior to this he headed up Visa Asia Pacific’s Emerging Products and Technology Group in Singapore,
combining both the former Chip and e-Visa departments. In this role he was responsible for chip
migration, as well as internet and mobile payments across the region. He managed a regional team
tasked to support Visa’s member financial institutions in their migration from magnetic-stripe cards
to Visa EMV smart cards, as well as developing secure electronic Visa payments in the internet and
mobile commerce space. These programs were implemented under the Visa Smart and Verified by
Visa banners.

Before moving to Singapore, he was responsible for Visa's Australian and New Zealand businesses,
the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games sponsorship and a number of technology roles including
management of VisaNet, on-line debit and smart cards in these markets.

Prior to joining Visa, Bruce undertook a number of roles in the data processing industry, primarily
selling solutions and services to retail and commercial banks in Australia and New Zealand.

Mr Mudd brings to CompTIA over 25 years of business experience in Asia. Prior to joining CompTIA, Michael was Senior Manager for Product Management at Standard Chartered Bank, where he was responsible for working with Bank’s regional and country offices in supporting the bank’s award-winning suite of business software products B2BeX in 14 countries throughout Asia. Mr. Reynolds is vice president of Tyco Fire & Security’s RFID business, which has been identified as a major strategic focus for the overall corporation. Prior to assuming leadership of the RFID group, Mr. Reynolds provided global oversight of the company’s Electronic Article Surveillance (EAS) business during the critical period of integrating Sensormatic Electronics Corporation’s operations into Tyco. His mission of successfully guiding the EAS business through this transition was accomplished in ten months, with sales increasing 24% during that period to over $600M in revenue, and Mr. Reynolds was asked to lead the company’s expanding RFID initiative. In the years leading up to this executive appointment, Mr. Reynolds successfully managed several large product organizations within Sensormatic, including the Hard Tag business unit with operations in China, Puerto Rico, and the Dominican Republic. He achieved significant product design cost reductions, implemented new global supply & demand processes, and launched a three-year six-sigma quality improvement program that eliminated more than 90% of all factory and warranty defects on the entire EAS product line. With an engineering degree from Clemson University, Mr. Reynolds has held design and management positions of increasing responsibility and scope at Motorola, Chrysler, and NCR. He is married with two children and lives in Delray Beach, Florida.

John Veale is Head of Payments Policy Department at the Reserve Bank. Since joining the Reserve Bank he has worked in the Bank’s macroeconomic and forecasting areas and in the Bank’s office in London as well as specialising in payment and settlement system issues. Prior to joining the Bank in the mid 1980s he was a Senior Lecturer in Economics at the (now) University of Technology, Sydney. John has been closely involved in the issues he will address today. He was one of the authors of the RBA’s submission to the Wallis Inquiry which dealt with the payments system and was subsequently responsible for the RBA’s input into drafting the Payments System (Regulation) Act which sets out the Bank’s powers in the payments system. He was similarly involved with the Payments Systems and Netting Act and changes to the Corporations Act and Reserve Bank Act which gave the Reserve Bank responsibility for setting standards for clearing and settlement systems. At an international level, he has worked as a consultant to the International Monetary Fund on payment system issues and has contributed to a number of publications by the Bank for International Settlements on payment systems.

Russell Zimmerman purchased the business of Spark’s Shoe’s in 1980 with his wife Marion. Spark’s Shoes are family shoe shops specialising in the fitting of children’s shoes. In 2001 Russell and Marion opened the First Rockport Retail Concept Shop in Australia at Castle Hill in NSW. Russell was invited to join the Australian Retailers Association as a State Division Councillor in 1995. In 1997 Russell was elected as a State delegate to the Australian Retailers Association National Council a position that he still holds. In 2001 to 2003 Russell was elected as the NSW Division State President. In 2003 to 2004 Russell was also elected to the position of President of the Australian Retailers Associations National President. Being in a small business gives Russell close contact with staff and the customer. In February 2005 Russell was asked to Chair the Australian Merchants Payment Forum. Russell is also a member of Rotary.
